  • Dang

  • As an ex c5 and C6 Z06 owner I can safely say that the C6R is officially the most awesome beast to ever grace the GT category at Le Mans, it's worth going to La Sarthe just to listen to that V8 rolling by for 24 hours non stop. Thanks for the memories Bowling Green from the UK.

  • what type of engine does this car have?

  • @chris88cvgt1 V8 it's amarican it must have an v8 ;)

  • @Orvieta I was referring to the Pratt and Miller C6RS. In my opinion it's the best corvette out there, all carbon fiber, suspension from the lemans corvette, same exact body panels, an 8.2 liter small block dry sump engine built by katech...the ingredients are there, it's a world beater.

  • i love the badboyvettes

  • nice following a saleen

  • it's a shame that the saleens' mr design lets them get out of hairpins faster. vettes are still better :P

  • i love the sound of a corvette C6-R CORVETTE RACING #1

  • GT1.... Glory Days!!!

  • There's a safety light fitted to the rear brake light which is used as a warning for the pit lane speed limiter and in adverse weather

  • See em every year at Laguna Seca to end the season, racing into the night business. Squeeling brakes, sweet smell of burnt high octane fuel, Pirelli girls, Mamba dancers, good stuff.

  • @mackc6r They can't quite commit to racing into the night, as they stop right befor it gets fully dark. I guess it's the extra expense of all the track lights they would need. Great race but I hoped the #4 car would have pulled off the win.

  • Ron Fellows makes so many mistakes...like ZERO.

For the record, I'm a Porsche guy. My dad is the Corvette freak. But for 8-10 years these cars are certifiably bad-ass.

And no drivers could do the Chevrolet any better than Fellows, O'Connell (father of the singer), and Boris.

They are among the best in the world. Period.

I would pay to watch them 7 days a week.

  • Just curious, do you know how fast these GT2 tops at the long stretch before the large chicane?

  • about 180mph for GT2, 195-200 for GT1 and P2, 200+ for P1 at the longest part of the mulsanne..

  • @golferchin76

that's insanely fast, we only do 100mph at our much shorter circuit, in little Hondas 1.5 liter engine.

well, we pull more than a 1.2 G in corners, and we are amateurs :)

  • i couldnt help but notice that the driver driving the saleens7R has turn signals on the back of his race car? Did any one else notice on you tube notice that?

  • In my country, Thailand, when we race, the regulation's that all lights need to be functional. That includes head lamp, turn signal, brake light, etc. I suppose it is FIA rule.

  • yes

  • its not the saleen, its the corvette.....when the pit limiter is pressed on the C6.R the headlights flash on and off....

  • at the end the saleen did have a turn signal though.....weird---thanks for pointing that out....

  • Le Mans 2007 cool cars, cool guys on the campingsite and shit weather^^

  • oreca saleen in front...

  • no drive thru McDonalds?

  • wow man that was nice!!Got a feeling how it is like being in one cool:)

  • This is a nice sounding car but i like the sound of the c5r better. Dont get me wrong this is an awsome sounding car but the c5r has a richer sound to it.

  • I agree. It's a meaner, angrier sound...like it's pissed off or something.

  • Which vette is faster the c6r of the gt1

  • Ummmm. the GT1 C6R is faster than the GT2 C6R but both are C6R. think of it like the Japanese GT500 and GT300 series

  • I love the Pratt-Miller C6.R cars. Katech Performance did a masterful job with these cars.

    Keep kicking asses, BBV!

  • Katech only built the engines. The new GT2 vettes will have inhouse built 6.0 liters.

  • For the 2010 ALMS season, the inhouse motors will 5.5 liters.

But I was referring to the GT1 cars.

  • Are the 5.5's going to be 7.0's with different cranks?

  • Dude, I wouldn't know. The 7.0L is a small-block V8. You can have the same small-block configured to 5.5L with similar cranks but the GT2-class horsepower rating is capped at 600bhp.

  • Yeah if you have the same bore and lower compression you'd have one long-lasting engine

  • Couple that with the DI that the ACO jackasses banned for the 2009 ALMS GT2 season and believe me, I'm so looking forward to seeing Corvette Racing completely annihilating the competition for the 2010 season when the ACO lifts the ban on Corvette's DI-technology.

  • It seems like they're always trying to hold the Corvette guys back.

  • It sucks. Here's the ridiculous thing as a fallout from the Laguna Seca crash recently: The ACO banned both Jan Magnussen and the Lizard Porsche's Jorg Bergmeister for the first two races of the 2010 season. That's fucking hilarious to me because Laguna Seca was SUPPOSED to be Jorg's last race for the Lizards.

The best coordinated team with the car and crew is definitely Corvette Racing and you're right. The ACO is always trying to find a reason to screw over Corvette Racing.

  • and yet, they STILL come out on top.

  • @triplexxxsatyr you should see the C6RS production car they made. It's fantastic!

  • I've seen them and they have the 500 ci (8.4L) small-block motor. Fantastic car and Jay Leno has the first C6RS running on E85 fuel. In fact, Leno collaborated with P-M to produce his car specifically.

What I LOVE about the C6RS is that's all naturally aspirated. I'm not a fan of screws and pinwheels so anytime a tuner house improves power output on a Corvette without screws and pinwheels, I will always be interested.

  • @triplexxxsatyr 8+ liters, nice interiors, they made it lighter with the dynamat, and I suppose they ditched the run flats...what's not to love?

  • @TechThem22 At Le Mans they never run higher then 8 liter engines, the viper had the most of all time. Here we're talking about a 6L engine in the video.

  • @Orvieta Ummm....The Peugeot Talbot Sport ran a 'Peugeot SA35 3.5 L V10' motor at the 1993 Le Mans. 3 of those ran. Also, Toyota's Team Tom's ran a 'Toyota RV10 3.5 L V10' motor. That was just the 1993 season. So yeah...they do indeed run higher than V8 motors in the 24 Hour Le Mans.

  • @ProTuner06 I know, my post mentioned the top limit is 8 Liter, not 8 cylinders in V...They are still running V12's atm, but never above 8 Liter, read carefully ^^

  • holy sh*t the vette sounds the best way better sounding than the diesels

  • I was at Le Mans this year and f*ck.....the sound of the C6.R's was amazing. Love that thundering V8 =)

  • Outstanding video - thanks very much for posting.

  • Those straights at Leman are pure sex

  • I love LeMans except for the two chicanes on the Mulsanne!

  • nice video:P:P

  • nothing beats the sound of a V8

  • I don't get this le mans stuff, why is there vipers and porsches that are slower and even let the other faster ones pass?

  • They have to let them pass, its part of the racing rules. You cant block a faster car thats behind you. The reason why some are so much slower is that there is different classes in Le Mans. Some are faster, some are slower. Your goal should be to finish first of your class.

  • I see, but I still think they should have a race for each class separately

  • the reason why they do this is i think because they do a warm up time for fia gt that takes about an hour and then a 2hour race with only a 20 cars is pretty boring especially at le mans because it takes 3minutes to see them so i think they let fia gt drive with other classes for saving money and make sure the peoples get to see what they paid for so they'll come again ;)

  • I see

  • no no..thats what makes the Le Mans Le Mans..and it makes the racing for technaical and difficult. And it makes it funner to watch

  • Bingo. The different classes running on the same track at the same time makes it more technically challenging for all cars involved. A straight up race with one class gets boring after a few hours, but this kind of mix up makes it very interesting and you never know what'll happen next!

  • its multiple classes, LMP1 and GT1, you compete in your individual class. The faster, more advanced goes into the LMP1

While corvettes, Lamborghinis, astons race in the GT1.

  • may be more classes.

  • LMP1 (Le Mans Prototype 1), LMP2 (Le Mans Prototype 2), LMGT1 (Le Mans Grand Touring 1), LMGT2 (Le Mans Grand Touring 2).

  • Lamborghini hasn't been in the 24hr in the past couple years i dont think. but i could be wrong.

  • 1 Murcielago in 2006, 2 (1 T-car) in 2007 and 2 last year.

  • nice take over on 1:42

  • GM did a great job with its Corvettes of this year. they managed to make a supercars V8 into a E83 burning machine. yeah they lost but shit gotta give them some great credit. aston Martin gave some good challenge here, but no much during the other races where the vettes dominated. BBV for life man.!!!

  • can´t get enough of this stuff...next year: i´ll be back!

  • im hearing Corvette will no longer be in GT1 which is rather saddening. BUT!!! they will be appearing in the P1 class to kick the comp a round a bit an dhopefully have some challenge. even though aston Martin won the Le Mans twice out of i dunno 6-8 years maybe. THE RACE ITSELF AWSOME YES!!!

  • huh? no P1, but they will move to GT2 after Le Mans

  • Ah. Circuit de le Sarthe. The Mecca of all racing period. 24 Hours of Le Mans = greatest race of all time. Tell them NASCAR boys to stick it.

  • @corvettez06usa we have circuits here in the usa that r just as good or better fuc# france

  • That was awesome.

  • badazz. Anything else in life come close to this?

  • awesome lap with an awesome car :). but I really think you/they made a mistake with the camera ON THE HOOD. Even for that big v8 its alittle hard to hear over the wind noise, like on the mulsanne straight they're going atleast 180 so yeah. next time do like the other teams and put it IN THE CAR.

  • Love the sound of this car!!!!!!!! Anyone from Mass. should go to Lime Rock. Definetly the place to go that's affordable.

  • nice (h)

  • if only you could make love to a car.......

  • LOL!!!

  • thats a good idea lol!

  • @wpsracing108 actually you can but it falls under a psychological disorder

  • awsome, I wanted to see the saleen down when corvette put full gas...

    goodbay.....good corvette

    saludos desde argentina...keep doing these

  • its not a ferrari its a saleen

  • wat car is in front of it almost teh hole time?

  • Oreca Saleen S7R

  • lol gt cars have tickers on them? (4:33)

  • mind blowing sound shame no one thought to put a wind deflector on the mic

  • of course we had a deflector on the mic. what is recorded is still OUTSIDE the car!

  • if thats the case i suggest you invest in a better one mate, dont get it twisted tho i still like the vid

  • Sweet video, I wanted to see him pass the Ferrari.

  • wasnt a ferrari it was a saleen S7

  • great vid, thanks! i wish all cars would have onboard cameras, especially during the race...

ps i love the angry mean sound of the 'vette, but imo the panoz sounds like a 24hour continuous fart...

  • ok the saleen s7 is not made by ford at all that is a saleen. and if i remember correctly the corvette has one atleast the past 5yrs except for this one they came in second to an aston, not a saleen

  • Saleen S7 is engineered and built by Steve Saleen Inc. and not Ford. Also, those were reconnaissance laps and they weren't going to race on cold tires anyways.

  • That and you don't want to push the car very hard before the race.

PS to Einjm, You're a fag for thinking Saleen was designed by Ford, only the engine was

  • I'f I'm not mistaken one of the Saleen trims has a TT LS1, which is a GM motor. In fact, the LS family was initially designed exclusively for Corvettes.

  • doesnt the current s7 use a 7 liter tt ford engine?

  • very nice ,my wish is visit that track

  • Even the pitstop at the end there was impressive.

  • music to my ears

  • I rode around the course in 1964,after the race. The course has changed so much it is almost unrecognizable!

  • sound of 600bhp Vee8 - priceless

  • 427 overtaking the Italian ponies.

    Hoo-rah!!

  • my God! that sound is orgasmic!! sounds like a huge explosion!! it's perfect!

  • love that car!! u gotta hear it in person if u havent already

  • Ok! Will try it! But they should've put the mic inside so you wouldn't hear the wind noise... shame...

  • Cool

  • Awesome! Just a small favor to ask, can I have the power plant... please?

  • American big block engines have a sound all their own and god, it's beautiful! Panoz is another one.

  • YEa!

  • American small block is more like it ;)

  • I do believe you're right. Thanks, Znowball2. :{)

  • Ron Fellows is the man!...And that C6.R ain't half-bad either! lol!

  • Thanks you badboyvettes!!!!

  • it's a so graet race car !! i want the same at my !!

  • Cool. I wonder who was drving? Jan is my favorite driver. Very smooth.

Do they still manually downshift in the LMP1 and LMGT1 cars?

  • "We strapped a camera to the hood of the 2007 Corvette C6R and had Ron Fellows take it out on a pre-qualifying lap at the 24 hours of Le Mans, France." ....

  • Do they manually "blip" and downshift in GT1?

  • lol, my point in copying the movies own description back to you, was in response to "who was driving." He clearly stated that "Ron Fellows" was taking it out on a pre-qualifying lap there..

  • yea they sti8ll do

  • sequential gearbox 6 speed

    down to up

    up to down

  • Excelent video, thanks!

  • Amazing Stuff!!. This is as close as it gets for an armchair fan.
