  • there are two glitches at work here. one is the press left and right simultaneously glitch.

The other one is the healer glitch caused by talking to a lady repeatedly before entering her house which messes up the connections all over the place, and is how the palace is reached so fast.

  • You know what they say... warping around too much will lead you to an early grave.

  • Pressing every other frame left and right causes this "fast-run" glitch. It is easy to do on an emulator.

  • Dark Link's all "what the fuck is this guy doing"

    Link's all "HATERS GONNA HATE"

  • @kaitengirl

Negative Edge Glitch, one that I believe makes you go super fast.

  • What the hell glitches is he using?

  • .Hack// The magic of video editon!! hahahah. Nice work/

  • This is one of the few Zelda games that gives me a hard time. I've had it for a couple years, and I am still stuck on the second dungeon. Why can't games today be this hard?

  • @Jesusfreak9895 , because this is too, TOO hard

  • Seizure @_@

  • Thumps up if you have this game for gameboy advance. ;P

  • best zelda ever. a real quest.

  • best games ever

  • The game exploded into millions of pieces.

  • DAAAAMN!!!!

This was ALOT more glitched than I excpected o.o

  • Great game. Very underrated. Do avoid playing this game with jNES; FCEU has always played this game seamlessly, as has Nesticle.

  • Amazing TAS. Who would know doing all that shit would lead you to a turbo shortcut like that?

  • Anyone suddenly get the Adventures of Duane and BrandO lyrics to the music in the game stuck in your head while the music played?

  • how can you walk this fast!?!?

  • godamn ur fast as hell

  • I have a theory that these glitches are impossible on a real NES.

  • Well i don't think so... but they should be hard, except you can push buttons in the speed of 1 Button per frame :3

  • @Exitussan

I've tested this game on a number of emulators and none of them ever get this game perfect. Most in fact (like jNES) make the speed gliding trick happen with little effort, making the game unplayable. They might just need some extra God-like skill on a real system, but I still think there's some bias with this game on an emulator. It's a TAS though, who cares.

  • @Rachman1337 Pretty close to it; generally controllers aren't built such that you can hit the left and right directionals simultaneously, which is how you trigger the main glitch used in this video.

  • @SlebRittie

    Aha that makes sense. Thanks.

  • @Rachman1337 Me Too!

  • WOW! This 'Speed-glitch' seems to be very hard. You must press left and right at the same time like in A link to the past the 'moonwalk-glitch'. I didn't tried it. Did you do that on an emulator? Would it works on the GC-controller? I have this game for Collectors Edition.

  • Wow this dudes a pro. Even I'm not that good.......

  • lol @ 2:00 hyper-speed knight.

  • (6:07-6:14)Ha, ha...That shadow didn't stand a white man's chance in Harlem!

  • 6:20 So an old man just gives you the triforce?

  • 2:40 I thought Nintendo had strict policies AGAINST religious references?

  • Apparently all the eurofags that went to Japan during the age of exploration has brainwashed Nintendo.

  • I don't really care that religion's in it, but, being an Atheist it would be nice if they followed their own rules.

  • @MarioZeldaPokemon mayb your death be slow, bloody and painful , may I be there to watch it.

  • HOLY SHIT...wow...I've played this game through and through and now I see u beat it in less than ten, lol.Crazy glitches on your game dude, lol.Wow

  • I remember when I was little I somehow found a way past the barrirers in the beginning of the last level. It was by total mistake and probably the coolest glitch in the world.

  • total bad assery @ 5:38

  • I remember seeing how weird the game got when you hit left and right at the same time. I'm amazed that you were able to do it so well. I usually just get bounced back and forth from miss timing my inputs.

    Cool video.

  • Is that what's happening here? Interesting! I always wondered what would happen if I could do that with my Nintendo controller. I'm a programmer (sort of) and I am trying to figure out this logic of why this would happen if the buttons are pressed simultaneously. The passing walls makes sense, but why do you go fast? Maybe one direction, two times the speed?

  • its something with, since both buttons are pressed, there are 2 limits making they kill each other, thus not limiting the speed

  • LOL! Theres a new glitched way to beat dark link!

  • the music in the palaces used to drive me crazy as a kid because it took me so long to beat them all so i love watching someone kick the shit out of this game haha

  • Even though I liked this video, I wonder why people do this and don't want to play the full game, since it's a great game.

    even though, 5/5

  • Actually, I'm quite fond of the game and play it through fully frequently.

  • 7:00 GET SOME!!!!

  • WTF!!!

  • i believe when you hold down left and right at the same time, you run fast.. idk thats what i heard

  • wow he can run and jump fast :O

  • dam ugly zelda :s the legend of zelda classic 1 is way better

  • @ pupsher: No cheats were used in this speedrun. Every strange happening was caused by abusing bugs in the game.

  • for me tool assisted is kinda cheat.. I know what you mean

  • this game seems to be full of bugs

  • it doesn't count if your playing like that

  • "With this you can jump very high"

    What another hack?

  • no, it's the jump spell

  • a glitched zeldas no fun :(

  • you´re right

  • not glitched its tool assisted...

  • what i must doing for this GLITCH???

  • To move quickly, press left and right on your controller at the same time. Yes, it is possible to do this on your console.

To activate the warping, it takes a bit of luck. An easier way than what is done in this video is to use the FAIRY spell when you're above the top of the screen in any town. Then enter the first door 5 times.

  • Something I didn't understand, though: why did Link die and go back to North Castle when he went through the locked door with the key?

  • When you pause on controller one, and press up and a on controller 2, it calls up the 'continue, save' screen you get after a gameover. It's sort of a failsafe the programmers put in in case you get stuck. Of course, it's used to save time. I think that's what you're talking about.

  • Oh, right. I figured that was it, but due to the timing I wasn't entirely sure. Thanks.

  • You could technically do this on a real NES, but being able to press left and right simultaneously would require you to pull apart your controller.

  • haha..nice =P

  • That, and the kind of accuracy using the left+right trick that is required to get through the game this quickly is probably near impossible without tools. Also, the person who made this video obviously knew exactly how to use that trick to teleport to various places in the game, and I don't even know how many people would have that level of understanding of the glitch. So, even if you can open your controller, it's probably not even worth the effort.

  • Trying to get Link to go in the direction you want at any speed by pressing left+right in real time takes a lot of luck. Luckily, the teleports that are taken are thanks to the series of garble rooms in town breaking the left exit of the screen rather than Link's speed, so anyone could try this route, walking at normal speed, assuming they could get the healer glitch to work.

  • The healer glitch sis started based on pressing the b button a couple of times and luck, so with enough time you could get it. You can also get to the same place using fairy off the top of the screen in town (if you search youtube for "fairy glitch #2" you can see an example). You'd eventually get stuck at the second last boss, since it's unskippable at normal speed. You have to fight it normally, I have yet to find a way to get the required spell without playing most of the game normally.

  • Yeah, nobody cares.

  • It looks like link is skipping...

mabe thats why he never does?

  • 2:03... that Ironknuckle was booking it.

  • lol

  • you saved hyrule and are a fucking cheater.

  • Do this on a NES. Only can do that with an emulator.

  • damn. my eyes are burning with all these glitches!

  • haha emulation glitches

  • u can call this a poor comment but i dont understand. how did he go so fast and y is it that dark link is the final boss not ganon? also he went thru walls and stuff, i dont understand. another thing y did the old man make u fight dark link and when u beat him he gives u the triforce? y wouldnt he just give it to u to save zelda? is the old man a bad guy or something? and again i dont care if u call this a bad comment or not i just dont understand

  • Maybe Dark Link was trapping him or something?

About no Gannon, maybe they figured the second game should be different than the first one, idk

  • tru tru

  • have you even played this game?

  • that doesnt matter. i was just wondering. stuff like being able to go thru walls or super fast kinda needs a explanation to someone who doesnt no how to do them or understand them.

  • It's a TAS run, which means the following:

Exploiting lazy programming/glitches to make things that aren't supposed to happen happen

Using save states and slowdown to achieve the best possible result everywhere

Basically, this is not anything like what the real Zelda 2 looks like. It's damn impressive though.

  • i no about tas. i love tas runs CUZ they exploit glitches and stuff. i only wanted to understand how he went thru walls and stuff and went super fast. thats all. cuz other games like ocarina of time. i understand the glitches its just this one i dont.

  • Link doesn't actually go through walls, he is going so fast that the walls are drawn in the wrong place. They don't correspond to where the barriers actually 'are', if that makes sense.

  • yes that actually helps alot thanks

  • Okay in the first Zelda game Ganon was defeated and the story of Zelda two is that if you defeat the one who slayed Ganon and spill his blood on Ganon's ashes he comes back to life. In this game Zelda is put to sleep and Link must awaken the triforce of Courage in order to wake her up. The old man can't give you the triforce because you have to prove you deserve it by being couragous.

  • I'm sorry, I wasnt paying attention..What? =P

  • [4:01]

    SEZIURE!!!

  • hmmmm.....I wonder wat link and zelda do after the curtain goes down???

  • hug?

    ^.-

  • I was thhinking other things but that works too.

  • to me willow greatest game of all time

  • People only hate this game cus they suck at it. It's not that bad if you play it for more than 5 minutes.

  • All I know is I love this game, and I seem to come back to it every few years and play through it again. Course my playthroughs look nothing like this :)

  • Yea, every now and then I pick this up

I never beat it though, infact I never beat the first boss :P. I still have fun, though.

  • @z3ekeezzz

you are right, one of the best games in NES, classic...

  • The music of this game is awesome.

  • I can jump like that in real life.

    I just don't want to.

  • That's quite a Zelda 2 game glitch!

  • I always hated those things that would run after you on the map! On 01:54 was that the dungeon music?

  • Run & win the game Link! :)

  • Can anyone tell me where to get Phil's FCE Ultra patch.

I wanna try this, but my emulator won't register left and right at once. It definately isn't my keyboard since it can register all four arrow keys normally.

  • LOL

  • this run must have been a lot of work. very nicely done and fun to watch :D

  • Boy. When a game is glitched, it's so boring.

  • 5:28 elevator to hell?

    you should have been killed

  • I think `glitched' is an understatement here. lol

  • wow... wtf... y guys didnt answer now in sittin here pwnin the island palace cuz all i can do is kill things. i need that key! how do i get it

  • you have used the darkside lol , noi cookie for you :P

  • wtf lucky.

  • I liked Twilight Princess, but the NES Zelda games are the best.

  • yea, uhh.... im a noob at this game and i get to the island palace before i finished the maze palace. i tried out the island one and got a key. i think i used the key from the island palace on the maze palace so now i cant get the flute cuz there are no more keys. wat should i do??

  • Fairy spell will let you "squeeze" through doors. If you don't have it already get in in Mido Port. You may need the Sacred Water/Water of Life.

  • uh it took 6:14

  • Hacking? You misunderstand, I think.

  • Meh... probably.

I'm not super into technical stuff and taking advantage of glitches etc.

The only kind of hacking I do is hack and slash, so...

Ah, but how did you know where you'd end up? I recognized all of the places you jumped to, but I didn't see the, ah, connection between some of them.

  • This player uses an emulator which can slow down the game and have save states, so basicly he can play it frame per frame and therefore aim for the perfect run easily. The glitches can be also made with original NES, but since the player here uses them all the time, it seems chaotic and very, very messed up. So there's no hacking of any kind involved.

  • What hack? Pressing left and right on an emulator at the same time (the same effect could be acheived if it were possible to press left and right on a regular controller) causes link to move very fast. Not one ounce of hacking, and believe me: I've hacked video games for years, and I would know if he was hacking.

Oh, and explain how the TAS runs properly when you download it off TASvideos and play it, since it doesn't load external cheats.

  • i dont read the word hack anywhere

  • So if I open up an original NES controller, take out the cross-button (or boomerang button according to Castlevania 1) and cut it in half, then put it back inside and press left and right at the same time, I will get the same effect?

  • yes!

  • Look up Battle Of Olympus speed run, same effect.

  • SWEET!!!

  • Dude, that's fucking insane!

I do know that pressing left and right at the same time on an emulated game gets that effect. But I've never seen it pushed to such a degree. I tip my hat off to you.

  • LOL @ 2:01 and 4:01 speedballing

  • wear wath that cheat?

  • this is uber-hacked

  • did anyof u know this is were they got the idea to replenish life with hookers in GTA because in this game a woman will take u in her house to heal u

  • Is it just me or does the world map music make you want to hear the original, iconic Zelda theme? It's so close to it yet so far away. Great game nonetheless, even though its hard as balls.

  • I thought so too when I bought it back in 1989, but it only took me a few weeks to discover I actually liked it better than the original theme. It took me 1 years to beat the game though.

  • 1 years kwit life now or stay in skool plz k thnxz

  • LOL! Good one! Priceless!

  • :).

  • Glitches shouldn't count.

  • It just doesn't make sense

  • Haha thats was so cool with all the telportation XD

  • ...the hell?

  • with the speed hack

  • What frustrates me is wanting to know how you made it so the world map monsters NEVER encounter you. That's the most annoying thing I can remember from that game, since I didn't have the inhuman patience required to actually beat it.

  • whoah! how'd you do that?

  • i agree with toomanygames, this is a really good game

  • this is one of the best glitch videos I have seen, how did you do it? And I liked this game, was the first LoZ game I owned

  • I don't know what the hell Frenchy's saying up there, but this is one of my favorite TAS speed runs, mainly because I enjoy Zelda 2. Shame people talk shit on it so much, it's really a good game.

  • Its the best according to me.

  • The Legend Of Zelda is better than best imo. :)

  • Not only is it the best Zelda-game, it's the best game ever.

  • the 2 CD-I zelda games are the worst zelda games ever...

  • CD-I? were that zelda games not made by nintendo? I don't count them as zelda games

  • The zelda games for CDI were not that bad;) I had fun playing them.

  • I know them, they are so BAD that I I would sell 'em, I would sell it for less than nothing! not that I have them..

  • Did you ever play through them? Just wondering, cuz I did and it honestly wasn't so horrible. I'm glad to have CD-I to be able to play them. But anywayyyy..happy gaming :)

  • hehe you too.. but I think in the first place they look horible.. I'll keep playing twilight princess, and wind waker..:P

  • I'm in the mood for a pointless argument...

Zelda 2 doesn't suck. The game doesn't get interrupted constantly by pointless conversations, generic cut-scenes, etc, so it's not on autopilot mode half of the time. The palaces have millions of floors, Link can do any move anytime and you have total control over it. And the music kicks ass, it doesn't sound like a Walt Disney soundtrack by Elton John. The emulated versions do suck though. They totally phucked those up.

  • Agree that this is a great game. Reason people hated it was because it didnt look like the other zelda game. It was an experiment, but all the good zelda elements were there and it had great atmosphere to boot.

  • I totally sucked at this game when I first played it, and I hated it. But then I got better and I think it's one of the greatest games of all time.

  • Bof... Les failles sont euh...
