Did you ever get a green or blue screen? If not you don't need to spend loads of money on buying one. Just some green or blue felt would be suitable as long as it's smooth. You don't want the creases in it or it will create shadows. There should also be some functions within Sony Vegas to fix the transparency and the soften the edges etc. I use final cut though so I'm not sure.

Some cool edits in there, the folder randomly changing color was quite funny :)

As a side note, chromakey will actually work with ANY solid color background, just green and blue are most commonly used as they are about as far from skin colors as sensibly possible. Depending whether you want mobility or not, a blue-painted bedroom wall is often quite acceptable :)
