At least the EU is pushing the least work-thrift countries to reform themselves in order to become stronger, although this has been done with a 10 year delay. The NAU will come some time down the next decade, when the US will realize that it could compete with some industries on the continental level and try to adjust itself in order to be competitive in other industries. At least the EU is pushing the least work-thrift countries to reform themselves in order to become stronger, although this has been done with a 10 year delay. The NAU will come some time down the next decade, when the US will realize that it could compete with some industries on the continental level and try to adjust itself in order to be competitive in other industries. America should see this as an opportunity, not as a burden...

Economic cooperation of European countries (incl. free trade) is a great idea but political integration makes no sense. There were few attempts to unite Europe in history but all of them failed. EU also will.
Reasons to create European Economic Community was OK (economic cooperation) but it was converted into a political organization not controlled by the people. It is a success of bureaucrats but a failure of the people

I can agree with you to some extent. You seem to be forgetting however that the modern EU started with the ECSC, which would make it impossible for the member countries to build up an army in order to start war.

It seems that everyone who refers to a North American Union refers to a combination of the U.S, Mexico, and Canada. When I think of a North American Union, I think of the EU, only in N. America, and with countries like Costa Rica or Belize being members as well. I don't imagine one nation, I imagine a alliance.

Romney proposed capping spending at inflation less 1%, the guy came to office in Mass with a deficit and turned it around.Reagan also signed a fairly liberal abortion bill as governor of California but then later in life became a strong advocate of the pro-life cause. I never said that there weren't people that don't vote for Mormons because they disagree with their religious views. There are also people that won't vote for somebody because they support the pro-life position, even if they are the better candidate. There are many staunch left-wingers that vote on general preconceptions of what is left-winged, rather than stick to the important issues. You would be surprised at how shallow the average voter really is. If you see somebody with an annoying tic, that is a preset negative disposition towards that said politician. Have you ever made a payroll...calculated quarterly tax payments...balanced a budget for a business? You see as a business owner you have to watch the bottom line all the time. That is what he meant. The government doesn't give a damn about the bottom line because they don't produce anything that is sold. They just tax.
