  • Truly magnificent with Sonderangebot und Gedenkminute

  • this is like a mantra without a voice

  • One of the best songs ever.

  • Ultravox? Hawkwind? The Boredoms?

    BLOODY JOY DIVISION, please !!

  • @Phavonic pavement, sonic youth, jesus and mary chain, suicide even ..all lineup behind neu!

  • @RockRazorback Now you know what influenced Ultravox's entire output, and Hawkwind and many more. (^_^)

  • If I could only take one Neu piece with me to a desert island, this would be it.

  • @hairymarx this would be an excellent choice. i might blow out my brains trying to decide between this, hero, and after eight though....

  • KICK DRUM.

  • Reminds of The Boredoms

  • I'd listen to this fur immer

  • good!

  • im german and i never ate kraut

its only a clishee and stereotype of germans

its like to say AMERICANS are EVIL PEOPLE WHO MADE WAR IN THE WHOLE WORLD

    partly true :-)

  • @ffm20zaheri Mostly true.

  • RUNBHO

  • I LOVE ACID

  • ...it is the sound of my youth since 1973 until now. Thank you Neu!...

  • musik dari planet lain :)

  • In the words of Iggy Pop, "The drummer in NEU! escapes the tyranny of blues and rock and enters a kind of pastoral psychedelicism".

    Thank you, James.

    Musical pioneers, one and all.

  • @TOBERT001

It's a fact - Klaus and Michael made a great musical pair.

  • @TOBERT001 that's such an awesome quote, thanks for posting that man. I love it. One of my friends described this stuff after I'd shown it to him as the most peaceful, gentle music he'd heard.

  • @crayyawn You're very welcome. I love this stuff. Neu are fantastic. It just doesn't date at all.

  • Sounds like Rex Gildo !

  • it sounds like Hallogallo, just a few twists here and there.in fact nearly all their songs sound similar.

  • I somehow find this beat very relaxing and deep everytime im drunk

  • Sounds like Lady Gaga.

  • @tomstickland clean ur ears out so

  • one of the greatest songs of all time

  • Timeless Beauty!

  • WHO ELSE FINDS THIS AMAZINGLY RELAXING ? I HAVENT FELT THIS CHILLED IN A LONG TIME ........

  • @000SAMBO YES I CAN ONLY AGREE WITH YOU MR CAPS LOCK

  • Sounds like Bay City Rollers. Very Good!

  • There`s alot of "filler" on Neu 2 .but this is an awesome tune . Timeless , the endless straight.

  • I didn't see that kick in the middle coming. WOW! I've just shat myself.

  • unique

  • Brilliant!

  • Sublime. Hooray for YouTube and BBC4 because I've added three Neu! cd's to my collection now. I can't believe it was done in the early 70s, it sounds so fresh.

  • this is perfect music to fly to..i don't own a plane or a spaceship but i do have an imagination

  • @vunderground1 or some pot

  • There are no words for this kind of invention. So many bands in my everyday must play list clearly would never have existed without them, cos I'm damn sure it didn't exist before them? The these days cliched stereoscopic phasing across the headphones is absolutely immense! :D

    Sepher x x x ;)

  • iv found a mainstream in the woods .

  • I've never heard neu, I found by accident looking for Kraftwerk, and I was impressed with their music was certainly an inspiration to many

  • @wxbeavis

Neu were actually in an early incarnation of Kraftwerk.

When they were told to get haircuts, wear suits and give up guitars and real drums - they left.

A win-win really as we got classic Kraftwerk and Neu !

  • This song was played during Radioheads' 2nd webcast on February 11th 2000!

  • Great! love neu! and their innovations!

  • Love this band, love this song, hate the retro elitist attitude. If you don't think there is music being made today that is just as genius as NEU! and other krautrock acts, you need to lose your bias, open your ears, and dig a bit deeper.

  • @sev783 amen to that.

  • @sev783 ah c'mon man. I hear you on the "retro elitist" attitude. I might be victim of that but I try not to be. But I don't think you can ignore the fact that certain time periods are better for art than others. Not every time has just as great of music as the last. Anyway, it's just different. Music today captures different emotions than this music does, so w/e enjoy both I guess. Any good new bands to recommend by the way?

  • Sounds like Hall & Oates.

  • @shatchett0 lol i'd love to hear what Hall and Oates song sounds like NEU :D

  • @Alexm799 In some alternate universe perhaps.

  • @Alexm799 if you take enough acid it sounds like Maneater :)

  • @thatfingio Are you referring to Haul and Oates? Or am I missing something?

  • @jacob7207 Scroll up :)

  • @strumbolli Scroll up to what? I can't be assed to research other comments on a youtube page, so yeah, Haul and Oates?

  • @Alexm799 listen to out of touch

  • @Alexm799 Agreed. Unbelievable that such an inane comment is made, jesus !!! If anyone is into Krautrock try the album 'Deutsche Electronische Musik' - it's friggin awesome !!!

  • @Alexm799 yeah no shit!! HAHA

  • @shatchett0 Lol! Hall & Oats! Maybe one of their B-sides!

  • @shatchett0 You have to F&^%$#ing be kidding us Right???!!!!

  • @shatchett0

I'm curious to know what planet you live on, because it certainly isn't Earth.

  • @shatchett0 You need some new speakers.

  • @shatchett0 No.

  • vamooooooooooooo!

  • Excellent track

  • listen to LUSH RIMBAUD

  • Freut mich, dass Engländer nicht nur "Can" kennen. Ich liebe "Art-Rock / Experimental"! Deswegen geht für mich auch nichts über "King Crimson" und "Brian Eno", besonders mit "Roxy Music"!

  • i love this kind of drumming, it's trying to be filly just for filly sakes! it all makes sense...

  • @KyostiG damnit, i meant ------ It's NOT trying to be filly just for filly sakes!

  • Beautiful! Futuristic, clean and inspiring.

  • you definitely hear how bands like radiohead are influenced by these guys, awesome music.

  • @clairestarrocks lol fuck radiohead, easily one of the worst bands to be influenced by Krautrock

  • Wow this song is absolutely stunning. Can't believe it's almost 40 years old - it sounds so fresh! (And now I know where early Stereolab drew their inspiration from...)

  • 2010? Nisennemondai "destination tokyo"...

  • This is the music style I was always searching for. This is fucking real. This is it.

  • motorik forever.....thanks neu

  • this is like the beginning of time.....this is life.....this is m.u.s.i.c. blissful, epic, yet quiet, unassuming......this is great art

  • Timeless!!!

  • excelenteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • Special ? yeah Very Special, Rother and Dinger early 70s way early in the creative days of new wave and electronic rock, this one here is a masterpiece !!!

  • Neu = erstaunlich.

  • Proves that Neu really were special.

  • Beautiful. Refreshing.

  • yEP WAS LUCKY TOO CATCH THEM FIRST TIME ROUND THANKS FOR POSTING THIS UP

  • quien quier mas¡¡

    visionarios de verdad¡¡

de esos que solo tu conoces no?

  • This is timeless. People who care about good music need to own the first 3 Neu! records. There are fine reissues out there - go get'em - today.

  • can't believe how awesome this music is. sounds like it was made yesterday! even though it was done decades ago!

    puts new music to shame!

  • it certainly does put modern music to shame,i cant imagine any of the so called 'big' bands out today creating something one hundreth as unique as something like this...

  • I love krautrock, especially Amon Düül II, Can and Harmonia, but I can't fully agree with you about there not existing much inventive music nowadays. Mainstream music is always the same, but listen to Animal Collective, The Dirty Projectors, Boards of Canada, The Flaming Lips, Panda Bear, Stars of the Lid, Radiohead, etc. and you are sure to be surprised at how unique their music really is

  • ...I love animal collective!

  • You're right. There's always another beautiful new band to discover! Check out "Phantom Band" - new scottish band, making great tracks - and obviously very Neu influenced. There's some stuff on youtube.

  • Thank you for that comment! Checked them out, and you're right, they're quite incredible :P Just bought their album on iTunes :) thnx! If you haven't already, check out Stereolab with "Refried Ectoplasm: Switched On, Vol.1" A french group also very influenced by Neu!

  • I glad you liked them! Apparently they do a great live show too - but they don't seem to leave Scotland very often, so I haven't had a chance to see them yet. I've got some Stereloab BBC sessions - which I love - , but I'll check out the album you recommended. Tx!

  • @Dereck89 apparently radiohead was really inspired by this band and other krautrock bands. I can definitely hear it on "weird fishes" and "these are my twisted words", it's all in the rhythm!

  • @KyostiG radiohead suck, they make Krautrock look bad, which is completely untrue.

  • @ConiferTreez err, they don't play krautrock. and what's untrue?

  • @KyostiG yeah, but they list it as a major influence, which gives Krautrock a bad look because radiohead suck the big one, always have.

  • @ConiferTreez and here i thought all krautrock fans were open minded...hmmm...

  • Comment removed

  • In this context i think the chemical brothers jump into my mind first. (no not their more pop oriented tracks) titles like: sunshine underground, jumping the tide, surface to air

  • @highvoltaged Yes, they use(d) a lot of influences for their songs. Let forever be for example reminds me of Tomorrow Never Knows from the Beatles.

  • @highvoltaged Not at all.

    Circle

    Pharaoh Overlord

    Giant Brain

    Colour Haze

All the bands in Germany nowadays that are the children of Krautrock.

  • @Dereck89 Wow, really? You're going to argue in favor of contemporary music by listing nothing but Pitchfork bands? Embarrassing.

  • @Dereck89 Other than Stars all those bands are mainstream.

  • @jameshughleigh Boards of canada are mainstream?

  • @evanchester420 hmmm boards of canada mainstream now that is debatable

  • @Dereck89 i don't really find any of those bands unique. i know, i'm so wrong. radiohead is brilliant. i guess they are if you never listened to anything recorded before them.

  • @Alexm799 I agree. It makes us redifine what "modern music" really is. As this sounds more modern in the sense of it's experimintation and minimalism than any sort of music today.

  • @Alexm799 People used to say the same shit in Neu!'s time. Only difference being that Neu! was one of the bands that people like yourself used to refer to as being, "put to shame." Did you hear? This album did not sell well at all during its time. I'll admit that these guys are good, but the only difference between Neu! and what other people were doing at the time, is that Neu! wasn't trying to be anything in particular. They said fuck the box altogether, let's have fun.

  • @mugabesunny Remember, this is Engineered Music for mass consumption....

  • Feel the greatness.

  • ich liebe dich ina

  • zum glück gibts die original

  • die lorbeeren bekommen immer andere

  • u2 hat auch geklaut

  • awake back to the future

  • This is the autentic COSMO PARTY.....

  • pinches putos; escriban en español

  • kann man immer wieder gerne hören, ohne ende........

  • I agree with you ..I thinkit's time I bought some Neu! the cover arts great too ... predates the whole uk punk thing the early 70's were an incredibly fertile time if you knew where to look. The seeds of so much were sown back then... it's only recently people have figured this, this music doesn't date (much) it shows what could be acheived with relatively simple tech and a few inventive minds buggering around with it.... tape was and still is a great recording medium

  • this is awesome

  • reminds me of the secret machines...

  • Magic.. I'm on the moon !

  • as a krautrocker from the outset I was into Faust and Can and the boys from Dusseldorf .. never heard Neu .... to my ears it's like Fausts Krautrock for sure ..with Michael Karoli's clipped guitar thrown in if you like this and haven't heard Fausts track give it a go ... I think it predates this by a year ...but this is in no way saying Neu ripped off faust ...German bands notoriously didn't know what other krautrock bands were doing ..... interesting subtle a great track ..

  • This actually came out about 6 months before "Faust IV". I don't reckon either of them ripped off the other - the Krautrock bands were spread across a pretty wide land mass and weren't always aware of each other from what I've read. They're both superb, though.

  • this is simply the most beautiful song ever made by two humans.

have thought so for many years.

  • That shits badass, I'll be checking them out more

  • Is it me or does it sound like Kasabian have ripped this off and used it as a backing track for Reason Is Treason?

  • Loads of bands steal from Neu! - PiL especially

  • I never understood why critics have given this album such mediocre ratings. I think it's absolutely amazing! Neu's first three albums are all masterpieces.

  • this is so good! Whats their best album?

  • fucking awesome!

  • Way ahead indeed. My girlfriend walked in while this was playing and said "Is that Stereolab?"

  • way ahead of their time! happy memories of listening to this at in the early 70's with mr. strongbow

  • what tha fuck is a KRautrock band?^^

  • krautrock is a term that english speaking people gave to german rock music. it is generally heavy influenced by psychedelia

  • I've been totally into Krautrock Or Musique Cosmique as it was known in Germany. I love this track and Negativland too.

  • Smack me if this is not the finest piece of modern music.

  • @ PutasZG: *SMACK* *SMACK* *SMACK*

  • A hammer beat!

    Thank you posting;)
