This was also my late mum's favourite, one of her few pleasures. I shall enjoy seeing the whole story, which my itinerant life prevented so many years ago.
watching this is making me very happy, remenbering when i was 16 years old and i used to stay late to watch poldark, i never finish to see all the episode, now I did and i feel so happy .
Thanks a lot for uploading these. I remember Poldark when it was really big in the 70s. I didn't really bother with it because I thought it was just a dull soap opera. However it's nice to watch it properly now. Decent drama like this seems like gold dust now compared to most of the crud on TV.Nice to have it here. I may even read the books now. Also, I'm sure Robin Ellis appeared in a Fawlty towers episode as the policeman in the Lord Melberry show.
I got the books after it 1st aired on PBS here, way back. Thought there was 1 more ending episode. Must be a memory from the Warleggan book. I think there comes a happy surprise twist with the Poldark daughter & the Warleggan son. I could have sworn I saw it on TV, Oh Well & Valentine growing up to resemble Ross even more.
What a project to post it all here! Always enjoyed watching Clive Francis too, later on "Yes, Minister".
@katiebird53 they did make some more of the books into a tv production a bit later on so you might have seen it, it was later on about their children :)

So hard to find good story-telling on the tube nowadays. I'm glad to be able to watch this again after so long. Maybe this time around I will actually understand what the hell Judd is saying. [if not, there's always subtitles!] Thanks so much for uploading.
sooo happy to have found this...what a wonderful trip down memeoy lane.Thank you so much for taking the time to do this...Robin Ellis sure is a hunk :))

Dear god, it's been...what, 35 years? I was 15 years old when I first saw this, and thought it the most profound and beautiful thing I'd ever seen. Or maybe that was just Ross...
How wonderful to see it again! Just the opening shots and music alone bring it all back. Thanks for posting.
I was only a child in the late '70 when I first watched Poldark on Italian Tv Program..It reminds me a lot time ago..we loved this British tv serial..
a very handsome man and talented actor Robin Ellis... <3
Been at least 35 yrs.. since I saw this on Masterpiece theater. Most enjoyable. Can't un derstand why Ellis didn't become a big star. I could easily see him as James Bond.
Thank you so much for posting this. I haven't seen it since the late 1970s, when it was rerun on American TV. Love it then and have never forgotten it. A thousand thanks from the Colonies!
My cousin is called DEMELZA! My aunt loved this so much, she called her 2nd child, her first girl Demelza. At first it was "Wha.???" but now, 27 years later, she more or less lives up to the name and character!! Great stuff!! (books are lifted off the [age and onto the screen. Class!
Thanks a lot, xalicehayesx! Been 34 years since I saw this & my dear late mum she loved this as much as I - never missed an episode! You've brought me to tears - the nostalgia, memories, rushing home from school..Such a great, beautiful story Ross Poldark & Demelza, how I hated Elizabeth! Robin Ellis is SO man-ly, tough, handsome & decisive - truly one of the best heroes ever known. Just found this, so you can imagine the fun I'll be having hours henceforth!! BIG THANK YOU, love from Singapore!
I found this series to be extremely engaging. The acting was solid, the costumes were authentic, and the soundtrack was beautiful. Even the dancing was pleasant. The relationship between Poldark and Demelza, a bit fiery, but thoroughly enjoyable and believable, kept me riveted. Their rapport prevented the plot from becoming insipid and tedious. (Some costume dramas become overlong for me.) It took me two weeks to watch the whole miniseries, but it was worth it. Magnificent!
holy crap O_O theres no pauses in the poldark DVD??? i have the VHS tapes (thankyou Nan and the bbc for that) its in parts and i tried to calculate how long it was. more than eight hours i think. thankyou for uploading i Love poldark :D
Thanks Xalice, love the opening music theme to this.
Bit of Information, the girl next to Poldark in the carriage at 1.23 was Jane Eyre in 1983 opposite Tim Dalton, her names Zelah Clarke. I bet not a lot of people know that.
Yes it's a shame Zelah Clarke didn't do more costume dramas. In my opinion she was perfect as Jane Eyre with Tim Dalton and that's the best version ever of Jane Eyre.
I watched this show for the first time with the person who was the love of my life who I still think about and is lost forever
