I agree, it's impossible to change anybody's mind, but i can't live without fighting because there are things whcih i don't like and they affect me in a way i don't want them to affect me. It just tough to let things go.
Agreed it's tough. It's easier when we realize the problem is usually not what we think it is. We blame life, people, and circumstances. When the real problem is our reaction to these situations. You can't use will power to create inner peace. It starts by observing the mind and separating it from your true nature. Treat the source and the symptoms fix themselves.
I'd like to gently suggest that you can't escape your own admonition to, "stop trying to change people...let yourself be".
As even with the above you likely hope to convince.
There's a way to struggle/labor to enter rest (as the Jews labor to enter the Sabbath - as Jesus labored to enter His rest of glory that we can all now enter thru His Spirit).
When I live FROM me, I weary. When the living comes from His Spirit thru me, there is real rest - shalom - even in the darkest of hours.
Thank you for being a gentle Christian. You bring up a good point. There is difference between growth and change in my opinion. Growth is gentle and inspiring. While change is often accompanied with feelings of insecurity and constant criticism of self and others. There is nothing wrong with growing by watching videos, asking advice, reading books, etc. The problem is when we try to change others unsolicited. Unfortunately this method is what turns a lot of people off to Christianity.
"There is nothing wrong with growing by watching videos, asking advice, reading books, etc. The problem is when we try to change others unsolicited."
Some 'evangelize' in a wrong spirit - hatefully instead of in love. I don't think the 'rightness' can always be gauged by how the hearer reacts (as it can be unpleasant to hear truth).
Re: unsolicited: I'd think one who believes in the consequences a Christian does would need to dislike people greatly to not share what they believe...no?

Another enlightening video. Thanks!! I have watched your videos for some time now and have learned a lot. I have an inner peace that I haven't had in years. Once I find a job, I'll be requesting your life coaching without a doubt.
i remember hearing somewhere, maybe your vids, our conditions / bad habits are like infections that we pass on and receive
Like in highschool there's COOL and people infect (Bully) this bad habit condition of how to behave...those acting differently get treated poorly, so people conform
thats how I am, I find myself infecting my behaviors to those around maybe because I see that old non conditioned version of myself in others,
I agree. If you want to show your point of view just live it. The worst things that have happened to me and others I know came after someone announced, "I'm a Christian." Now when someone has to say that, I know they are about to do something that is anything but ":Christian," or they are about to judge someone as less-than due to their beliefs. I get as far away from them as possible If you are a Christian, act like one don't tell me about it.
Great video and powerful message. :) It definitely turns people off more than attracts. I have some friends who keep asking me what I think about God and although I consider myself very spiritual and have my own beliefs about the universe and reincarnation, I can't bring myself to believe in Jesus. The most I can say is he was very wise for his time if he existed. Maybe even a philosopher. Thanks for sharing your message with all of us. :)
Great video Steve! Really great!
