Not to dis your video or anything but I don't think 30% of women drink during pregnancy. If 30% of women drank HEAVILY during pregnancy, then about half of the babies would develop FAS. It would be 150 out of every 1000 births for FAS. Yes, maybe 30% of women take at least 1 drink during pregnancy but this 1 drink will have no effect on the natal development of the child. All your other stats were on point, great work. Especially for a high school project.
@NewToTheLyte you don't need to drink heavily to cause FAS. Most of the time it occurs during the first 2-3 mths of pregnancy when most woman do not even know they were pregnant.
I agree Drinking in pregnant women is 100% preventable but it is very unfair to blame the mothers. In the first semester of being pregnant is when the brain begins to develop and before the signs that you are with child happen you may go to a friends house and have a glass a wine. It is very likely your mother had a glass or two as well. One glass can create mental problems that you may not even be able to measure. I can see how extreme cases seem so brutal to you but don't judge every women.

The women who drink during their pregnancy should be really ashamed of themselves. There is no excuses at all. This was a true labor of love you created. I have worked with developmentally and intellectually disabled people throughout my life. Most women do not understand, let alone care what the effects of their behavior does to an unborn child, and that they will live with that guilt forever, as well as the "forever baby" they created. Such a sad thing that is 100% preventable if they would put that life in their belly the #1 priority, as it should be.
