The word Discipline is commonly misinterpeted with the word Hit or beat when translated from Russian to english. I don't see any verse in Bible telling us Christians to abuse our children. Kids need to be disciplined, but not in anger. Read Bible more carefully. You know Zzaikin1 there were many factors associated with the final verdict. As some people have pointed out on here the family came in to fight without hiring an attorney. The mother did not follow the court rules (some of those who attended didn't follow the rules as well). The mother openly accused the judge of corruption and told Him that God's law is above his law. Keep in mind while she was saying this she was disrespecting his court rules. Not to mention the child abuse on top of all.
All of the things I have mentioned above and more have added to the final verdict in this case. We know only part of the story since the testimony proving the actual physical abuse is not available to the public.
I agree with you on many points. Family Kozlov has backgrount which affect their behavior in court. If you know them closer you will have different opinion. It is not judge fault I agree, he was doing his job. But look again: final product of this process is bad, very bad. Not punishment, but counseling, education, reconsiliation give better chance for kids and parents. What we can do? Law is for everyone. If parents ca get this they not be in jail today. Mrs. Kozlova is disrespecting the judge, she doesn't follow any of the court orders. If she's RUSSIAN doesn't mean she can do whatever she wants. They should've hired a lawyer. Judge is just doing his job. He's not at fault that the parents didn't hire a lawyer. For exactly that reason most smart people hire a lawyer who is familiar with court orders. HELLO!!!! the parents tried to explain what they did was wrong they didn't listen. the mother came back from the hospital after three days because she gave birth. and she comes home to the kids being tattooed all over and having piercings. thats frustrating especially because of her hormones. anyway, in Ukrainian and Russian homes that are christian it's a sin to do any of that kind of stuff. and now the kids want their parents back but they made a stupid mistake and now they probably won't.

Russian people like the parents on trial are the reason Americans think bad of Russians. I myself will think bad of "certain russian people" because of how they behave. Just because there are negative statements out there regarding russians, it doesn't mean that they apply to everyone. So dont take things so personally! I have a great idea! Parents should try "spanking" on each other and their adult friends who believe in disciplining kids in this fashion with all those beating devices (preferably with anger) and then determine what degree of pain is appropriate.

And if the parents followed the formula below, no judge could give them any jail time. Especially, if the parents used their bare hands. Although, to some parents that is not painful enough if applied to kids, they have to use other beating devices... but the same people would not enjoy that much pain if applied to themselv.

@ zakharovsl. I was also raised in a Russian family, and I am a very responsible person. There were times that we were spanked, and there were times that we were beaten for nothing. I grew up in a russian familly and around the culture of the russian christian family. I have seen this classic case of language mix up too often and now here it is again. The word Discipline is commonly misinterpeted with the word Hit or beat when translated from Russian to english. A Child is to be diciplined or spanked on that special spot for dicipline on the back side of the body. Any other body part is not dicipline, It is abuse. SPANK + DICIPLNE+BUTT= OK. BEAT+HIT+ANYWHERE ELSE= NO

I don't see any verse in Bible telling us Christians to abuse our children. Kids need to be disciplined, but not in anger. Read Bible more carefully. I've witnessed personally how a mother was beating her two daughters and pulling their hair and throwing them and punching, because they were talking in church, and she was doing it in CHURCH!!! I'm pretty sure those kids were beat up on a regular basis. What these parents did is unacceptable!!! Disagree with me all you want

You know Zzaikin1 there were many factors associated with the final verdict. As some people have pointed out on here the family came in to fight without hiring an attorney. The mother did not follow the court rules (some of those who attended didn't follow the rules as well). The mother openly accused the judge of corruption and told Him that God's law is above his law. Keep in mind while she was saying this she was disrespecting his court rules. Not to mention the child abuse on top of all.

I agree with you on many points. Family Kozlov has backgrount which affect their behavior in court. If you know them closer you will have different opinion. It is not judge fault I agree, he was doing his job. But look again: final product of this process is bad, very bad. Not punishment, but counseling, education, reconsiliation give better chance for kids and parents. What we can do? Law is for everyone. If parents ca get this they not be in jail today. It is very sad story, nobody is happy

I'm reading the comments and I'm SPEECHLESS!!! Do ANY of you know the court rules and how the trials are done? This is not a therapy session. Watch the full video of the trial. Mrs. Kozlova is disrespecting the judge, she doesn't follow any of the court orders. If she's RUSSIAN doesn't mean she can do whatever she wants. They should've hired a lawyer. And I don't think that kids would run away from a loving home. I know and seen how Russian parents can discipline their kids.

Judge is just doing his job. He's not at fault that the parents didn't hire a lawyer. For exactly that reason most smart people hire a lawyer who is familiar with court orders. There's nothing special about Kozlovi's case. Do you know how many similar trials this judge had in the past? Russians just made it personal and made a big deal out of it.

Just prior to kozlov's case, there was another trial for which a father was being sentenced for raping and murdering his two year old daughter. That case was not as popular as kozlov's it appears.

I heard that they were given to a nice Menonite family. Menonites are very conservative and old fashioned. I hope the kids are in a loving environment. Apparently the kids are not a joy to be around due to the environment they grew up in. Maybe the new family will soften them up and make them more cooperative.

yeah, but spanking with love(with the feeling of not wanting to do it), not with anger to want to beat out the bad stuff out of a kid. Maybe it's better just to seat down and talk to a child instead of beating. This is a big lesson to all of us parents. I pray to God to turn their kid's hearts back to the parents and forgive them, and reunite this family. They need the parents especially a baby needs mother's love and care and warmth.
