Homosexuality did not even become a word in the English language until about 1892. Sodomy did not become a word in the English language until around the 1520's. The English language and the Bible are much older than these two dates, so how could these words be in the Bible, unless the Bible was modified (or mistranslated?), probably by people who had an anti-gay bias in the first place.
Even if we were to ignore the word origin dates in the reply comment I made earlier, what the Bible actually says in the Corinthians statement is "homosexual offenders". Therefore, my interpretation of this verse would be: don't offend homosexuals or you will not enter the kingdom of Heaven.

Nor does it use the word 'Sodomy'.

For unbelievers, they don't care about/know about God's punishment, so they choose what they want on the basis that "life is too short, bla bla bla." Christians r supposed to be against the spirit of homosexuality rather than gay people.

Domestic violence between gays is far greater than amongst heterosexuals. If gays are born that way what about pedophiles, people who practice beastiality and incest? Are they born that way too?

You are blinded.You read but do not accept what scripture is saying and make excuses by taking scripture out of its context where it condemns this act,and you therefore try to adapt your lifestyle to scripture and contradict everything the Word of God says,and instead of sacrificing Human nature and renewing yourself with the Holy Spirit you are still living in human nature.Homosexuality is not of God,because if it was,it would have been acceptable in the law for man and man to get married.

I don't know if you are still replying to me, but I can see and read just fine. I accept what scripture is saying. I just don't buy into the anti-gay bias that most Christians seem to have when they talk about the Bible. Life is too short for you to keep living in fear and hatred of those who are different from you. Religion is supposed to bring people together, not force them apart. Don't use God's word to hate, for that is the biggest sin of all.

Yes, I am gay, and I have a sister who is gay. I am also left handed. I have never regretted being part of both of these groups, nor have I chosen to have either trait. But they are part of me. I enjoy being myself, and one is just as natural to me as the other. But both have been given a bad rap in the Bible, and members of both of these groups have been forced to be converted to "normal" by Christians, or told they are going to Hell. Everyone, please, live and let live.

jmk1975, yes, live and let live. As humans, not God, this is the only thing we can do. I'm a Christian. When I face gay ppl, I don't try to convert them to be "normal" b/c no one can change anybody. I'm just telling u the consequence of certain decisions. I admit it's wrong for believers to belittle gay ppl. It's the wrong side of some believers. But it's the wrong side of God and the bible. You know what I mean?

(1 Tim.4:4-5) Paul was talking to Timothy about people abstaining from certain foods to be righteous. In the New Covenant, we are not under the law of Moses. We are under the grace of Jesus. Let me read from 1Corinthians 6:9-10 "do not be decieved.neither fornicators,idolaters,adulters,homosexuals,
sodomites,thieves,covetous,drunkards,revilers,extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God." Scripture only condemns this act,i do not see anywhere where it says "its natural," "man must have his own husband" No certainly not,in corinthians 7:2 "let each man have his own wife and each woman her own husband." I am qouting scripture,and i dont see anywhere where it is acceptable.

Homosexuality did not even become a word in the English language until about 1892. Sodomy did not become a word in the English language until around the 1520's. The English language and the Bible are much older than these two dates, so how could these words be in the Bible, unless the Bible was modified (or mistranslated?), probably by people who had an anti-gay bias in the first place.

Even if we were to ignore the word origin dates in the reply comment I made earlier, what the Bible actually says in the Corinthians statement is "homosexual offenders". Therefore, my interpretation of this verse would be: don't offend homosexuals or you will not enter the kingdom of Heaven.

I'm not trying to judge God. I am merely pointing out that there is a perceived double standard in the way that the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, and other parts of the Bible, are discussed among most Christians. This is quite disturbing, since many people are being ostracized (and some have even committed suicide) because they are unable to align their sexual orientations with the beliefs of the people in their communities. It is becoming a serious political and religious wedge issue.

The bible does not explicitly state that homosexuality was the reason of the destruction of Sodom or Gomorrah, nor does it state it as bad anywhere else. (For those of you about to quote Leviticus, that line 18:22-"You shall not sleep with a man as with a woman." can be interpreted in many ways. For example, a gay man would not sleep with a woman, so he is still respecting this line even if he sleeps with a man.) Also, sodomy can be committed by either same or different-sexed couples.

Can i just say to JMK1975, anything that is the lust of the flesh opposes God, and what i mean is the human nature.Galatians chapter 5 is clear and says that we are to put to death the lusts of the flesh and renew ourselves with the Holy Spirit and that makes us true followers of Christ.God made man and woman,and this is the natural way to live in society,and if being homosexual is not a sin why did God not save the homosexuals aswel as Lot?people will say anything to misinterpret scripture.

1. There is a difference between love and lust. Would you fall in love with just any person of the opposite sex you meet?
2. Homosexuality is considered by a growing number of scientists to be a natural variation. It has proven to be present in a large number of animal species and most if not all human civilizations.
3. If you check my earlier comments for this video from about the time the video came out, you'll notice I've already talked about Lot, and have answered your question.

While I respect your religion and your right to believe what you believe, I would rather go to hell for liking people than to go to heaven for hating people. As for my "righteousness", I have my own because while the bible is somewhat well meaning, it is not the only source of morality, and many people who read it only believe what they want to believe. I prefer to follow Science because their conclusions are repeatable and testable where the bible is arbitrary and unprovable.

He is holy and cannot except ANY sin. Psalm 19:7 'The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
You or me cannot stand when God judges the world in righteousness, except those that have repented and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Anyone who reads the entire Bible cannot fail to realise that the Bible teaches that homosexuality is both immoral and unnatural. jmk1975 people who commit evil can do more than one type at the same time. One of the points being made in this clip is that homosexuality is associated in our own language with Sodom.
SpeedyBruin the Bible teaches that wickedness will increase as we approach the end of the age, so why would you not consider an increase in homosexuality as a sign of the end?

So, God had sent two female angels to Lot's house, and the men of Sodom went after them, would God have been punishing Sodom for committing heterosexuality? Probably not. This sounds to me like a double standard. Couldn't it be more likely that God was more likely punishing the town because they had committed rape, or rudeness to guests?

God did punish when house of Banjamin raped a woman from Judea. They actually wanted her husband but accepted her as a ransom. Therefore the whole house of Israel fought with house of Banjamin. Please dont judge God based on what you see christians doing. God is kind and loving and He can change lives.
