  • I couldn't afford HBO in the 90s.

  • I wish Babar had fought the hunter ina fight to the finish!

  • @DakariKingMykan Stomp him to death and watch the guts sill out? Damn!

  • @DakariKingMykan wow. you are pretty messed up if you wanted to see an elephant in a kids show stomping someone dead. Especially starting from a very young age

  • @DakariKingMykan I shall drop dead? And I thought you would prefer it, if Babar stomps me.

  • @DakariKingMykan Yeah Mykan! Go away and stop bothering Mykan!

  • Thanks so much for posting!! I got to be eight years old again. :-)

  • My guess is that the hunter was out for trophies/ivory first but got so sick of having his ass kicked by Babar that it became a personal grudge

  • You know we should have world meeting to bring leaders from around the world to the states, talk about the problems in the world and try to bring pecae on earth.

  • what i love about the first few episodes of babar is that it shows realism, it shows us how people can be so cruel to animals, like the killing of babar's mom, but it also shows you the courage to be better than those people as babar had the chance to kill the hunter or wound him but chose to destroy his gun the symbol of his threat. And it shows us how hate can consume and destroy us and how working together can benefit everyone. great show, the first episode terrifies kids, the others teach

  • 1:06-1:26 No junk food, just earthly goods / I ate weird berries in the woods / Now I'm seeing colors, I'm getting higher / I think I'll start.......a forest fire!!!!

  • He deserved to die after what he did to those elephants and Babar's mother.

  • 4:30

That scene. I don't know how many years it's been, but it has literally haunted me for over a decade. Well, not *truly* haunted as in nightmares or anything, but that shot of him screaming to the sky as the flames advance - that was burnt into my memory (no pun intended). It feels good to view it again, older and able to understand what was actually going on.

  • Now that's what i call Animal Teamwork.

  • the hunter is extremely psychotic

  • As messed up as the hunter was.. I'd prefer Babar over any childrens show these days..

  • Hey, look, I found a cartoon I sort of remember from when I was quite young. Nothing to do, so I'll take a look at it. Oh yes, I remember now -- the forest fire, the bit with the elephant holding the gun, ah, it's all coming back to me . . . Wait, what's happening here? The camp is on fire, they're all running away. I remember this I, think, but FUCKING HELL A MAN'S GETTING BURNT TO DEATH IN A KID'S CARTOON JESUS CHRIST.

  • That man was a really messed up villain though. I guess him dying was the only way, that he could be stopped.

  • you can't run! i won't run!

  • @thewewguy8t88 -

Yeah, I kinda wondered that, too.

But you're right - like Babar said, there's really no reasoning with someone like that.

    =(

  • The Jungle Federation reminds me of the United Federation of Planets in Star Trek. :) This was my favorite show in Kindergarten - we need more shows like this on TV today!

  • you know i actully wondered why the madam never actully tried to talk to the hunter but like then agian he would porably shoot her for siding with the elephants.

  • wow, the part where the hunter died was surprisingly gruesome for kids television

  • Yeah, I remember being a little surprised at that, when I was a kid. Not only did the Hunter die in the fire, he stood there and let it happen! That dude was messed up!

  • yeah i agree with you there. i was 9 when i first saw that scene

  • I think the hunter got immolated. The remains of his body were never seen again

  • Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what happened too. His goose got cooked.

  • @hornean who wants to see them anyway

  • Talk About An Anmail Team-Work.

  • thats humans for ye...

  • That hunter really went off the deep end. He was so full of hate for the animals that it ended up consuming his life.

It's amazing how reflective this is of our real life world, and how unfortunate it is that we often don't realize what brings us together until we find ourselves threatened by the same dangers.

  • I always wonder what was up with the hunter and his animal hate. Some kind of childhood traumatic incident? Or maybe he was just mentally unbalanced? I tend to think the latter.

  • NOOO!!! COME BACK! YOU CAN'T RUN! I WON'T RUN! I'LL DESTROY THEM ALL! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Like what you said, this is not just for ivory commerce or trophies that the hunter wanted to kill those animals. There was a personnal goal. Like what you said, maybe it's because of a childhood traumatic incident. I guess he was so traumatised that he became obsesed with that and he bacame, like what you said, mentaly unbalanced.

  • Oh No.

  • "Oh No" what?

  • @sailorlum I find it quite ironic by starting a fire to kill the animals the hunter ends up kill himself by his own plan literally backfiring on him.

  • @sailorlum

actually madame tells babar in the second epis. that some people have no regard for the value of life, they seek trophy's and or ivory without thinking of the repercussions of their actions. the hunter merely saw them as a source of money, and then later because babar and the elephants defied him he saw them not as animals but as enemies and obsessed over destroying them, he couldn't let go of his hate and it consumed him, causing his destruction and uniting the animals together.
