Somehow i don't think the lenovo would have lived through that when our school have the same laptops and the screens break with less force than that one went through...
Over-generalisation much?! If you were to walk down an intercity train here in the UK, you are likely to come across a businessman tapping away on a Thinkpad, and sometimes a on Macbook Some of my university lecturers (I study Physics) were issued with Thinkpads. Ultimately I really don't get this whole brand loyalty argument - the majority of PCs and Macs are built using the same Intel processors and chipsets and, with the exception of OS/X, can all run the same programs and operating systems.
how many computers sold by is just a testament to advertisement. im almost positive i have never seen a lenovo advertisement on tv. yet you see dells with there pretty interchangeable back to school piece of shit covers all the time.
They don't show how much pressure they put on each laptop and how long. Rank #1? Don't make me laugh... Count how many people prefer Acer, Asus, Dell, MacBooks, Sony or even Samsung over Lenovo.
@devilxcries Thats like counting how people drive Toyota, Fords, Honda, Mercedes, Volkswagens, Chevy, Peugeot, BMW, over any other car company. Ever been to a professional environment like a real workplace or university? Thinkpad is the brand of choice. They're highly reliable, but they cost a premium too.
@n0y0x Actually it's what king of workplace and the environment you're talking about. If you're talking about office for business, most people use Dell since they have office specials which runs very well and not costly at all. If you're talking about universities, what subject? I do art and graphics and I use Macbook Pro since I use photoshop and adobe design suite. Design programs are horrible in windows no matter the specs. I have two laptops, Acer Aspire 4750G and Macbook Pro 15" 2011.
"Professional Environment". Name a particular environment where Lenovo is actually better. I can't seem to find one since office = dell, universities = apple macs, designers = apple macs. "Durability" and "Reliability", can't rely on Lenovo or Windows to run Adobe products smoothly.
@devilxcries The number of people preferring other brands over Lenovo is not a discredit to Lenovo. Thinkpads are expensive, hence fewer people will be willing to plop down the cash for one.
Using sales as a means of judging quality is like saying Ferraris are crap compared to a Chevy Aveo. You see more Aveos. Doesn't mean anything about Ferrari's quality.
So you're saying Lenovo is Ferrari in PC world? that's a bit too extreme and very very laughable. I'm talking about people's preference. Preference does not equal to sales and I'm not talking about sales if you read carefully what I wrote.
The Thinkpad T60 I bought 5 years ago is still very good to use. It's expensive at that time 1400 dollars, but it's so worth it. I drop my Thinkpad T60 so many times, I pour juice on it so many times, the machine just survived with ease...I will always buy Thinkpad X series, if I am getting tired of the T60 (I doubt it will get broken)...
I used to own a piece of junk Vostro 1000. It was crap to begin with, the battery lasting only 40 minutes and giving out a little more than a year later. Guess what broke? The screen.
Now I'm typing this comment on my new ThinkPad T410.
LOL I have a Asus laptop and I always leave on the floor, and every time I step on it but it doesn't damage the screen. By the way, my weight is 140 pounds.
here's something to work on & look forward to in the future models, i got a scratch on my lenovo screen after i knock a spray can off my table and onto the thinkpad.! lol.. damn..
Curious how my Vostro 1400 would have done. I wouldn't be surprised if it broke, but it's still way the heck better than the new Vostros. Magnesium alloy chassis FTW.
I have DELL vostro V13 and it's awful :( Color lines on the screen appeared without any stress test after 6 month of use . I'll never buy dell any more.
@mathieupoussin The average starting price of the Vostro is £670 compared to £550 for The Thinkpad Edge. They are both in the "cheaper professional" category, so I would say this is a fair test :)

Dell Vostro V13 seems to have an internal LCD screen problem, it's really a disgrace.
