This seems about accurate. Its a healthy R129, some of you are measuring the 0-60 in the time it takes the needle on the speedo to start moving! The car by then is already going 20kmh!

After on the SL's were fitted with electronic speedometers, they would measure from 0kmh. My SL60 from a deadstart is just a little bit quicker than this car.

Its to fast for a 500SL. Normally very good running ones, do 0-100kph in like 6.0 Seconds with stock 1:2.65 rear axle ratio, 0-200kph after speedometer in like 21 seconds if running very good.

This is more like a 7L++ Car. Although it was was claimed that the early 500SL with KE-Injection are running consinderably quicker than the later ones with Bosch LH and Bosch ME injection..... hmmm.

Other possibility is, he is running very small wheels on the car, like 16" with very flattish Tires.

@ChristianCohn it's not too fast, our 500SL accelerates as good as this one but even does 262 kph. It's right that the KE-Jetronic specified engines are a bit faster (326 hp and LH-Jetronic 320 hp). Because of a higher torque the LH-Jetronic 500 is more efficiant according to fuel consumption. But insiders even claim that all SL models offer more perfomance than comparable S- or E-Class models, positive performance dispersion is able to reach 10-15 %.

@Andrea1491to Go and take a ride with this car. Its real i prommise. Mercedes is the automatic guru. The automatic of an Mercedes W115 from ´68 will shift as good as new ones. And "much" more sensetiver than a new VW DSG. ;-)

Fantastic car, fenomenal engine. This, I think, is the early 326 PS version, as the gearbox has 4 speeds.

This older cars remind me why I love Mercedes-Benz.. If only they still made such incredible machines...

@Andrea1491to well the new ones must suck. And it could be chipped, but that means it only has 340ish HP. Considering that a 425HP 5.7 Firebird does 0-100 in around 4.5, and it would not be as heavy. Maybe this driver tricked his transmission to start in first gear?

I've never seen a Mercedes 90s automatic gearbox changing like this.

It's a bit weird, but of course if you say that yours is so fast, I believe you.

This gearbox isnt fast at all. Its a normal automatic....check the VW or Audi DSG gearbox. That is fast.
