I would like to have a time machine to travel to the past and see this extraordinary people alive. When I hear this song I trully imagine an old man telling a magical story about Popol Vuh (the mayan bible). And very interested kids listening to him.
I thought it interesting that this parable played out in the style of tragedy. It left no room for the consideration or possibility of a happy ending, only the bleak reality that men are an insatiable horde, and will ravage their world until nothing but they remain. Obviously some of its poignancy is lost in the fact that said tale was scripted by a man in a writer's studio, but were this story actually told by a Mayan elder, it's gravity would truly be something to behold.
