The Census acts like a scam artist would, asking you to answer 72 highly personal questions then using fear of fines/jail should you fail to respond to their survey. Call 1-800-962-3524 (Capitol) - Ask for your congressional leader’s phone #s, tell them your complaints then demand they make the American Community Survey VOLUNTARY by supporting/passing Bill HR 3131.

I teach sociology, specifically statistics, and my colleagues and I saw this coming a few years ago when the Census Bureau decided to change the way they counted people. There has ALWAYS been "mathematical figures" to account for missing data. The process by which this is done is far too complicated to address here, but the fact remains that more homeless and low income people will be counted, which will clearly help the Dems. Its more about accuracy than it is politics but that isnt good tv.

ummm. census has been happening for decades. already run by the feds (commerce bureau) so being outraged that obama wants to see the results is outrageous in itself. he wants to know what the census says so he can serve us.

We should have total and complete privacy from the government, not the other way around. They absolutely lie and say you must fill the entire census, when they have no legal right to ask us anything other than how many people are in the household and even then we can still withhold an answer. The census has been abused to intrude into our homes and privacy by asking 20 vapid questions and then asking if you own a firearm or if you think your neighbor is doing something illegal.

If your neighbor or a stranger knocked on your door and asked you for your income, employer, phone #, ages, names, ect would you tell them that info? Why then would you need to share with big brother? No reasonable need for that info other than # of people living at your home.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz is correct, we need to keep control of the census as far away from the White House, (or congress for that matter) as we can. It needs to be as independent as we can get it.
