  • Thank you for the great video. I'm starting for the first time this year - spring 2012. I will offer this and consider the source is a wanna-be bee keeper. I noticed you had on a black coat, I've been told to always wear white or light colored clothing - so they don't consider you to be bear or some type of animal. Guess you're supposed to dress like a polar bear?? Wishing you and your bees the very best. Again - thanks for helping me with your video.

  • The worst thing that a bee can do to you is sting you. Once you get stung the first time, the fear goes away. The night I got my first hive I was stung eight times (even though I had some protective clothing on). After that, I didn't look back. You will enjoy working with bees. They are lots of fun. Your 'can do' attitude has really impacted me. Keep up the great work.

  • Hi Stephanie!

How many bees is large your hive today´s?

Can you make a new video?

    What is your E-mail?

    Much love from Austria: Zoro

  • very well done Stephanie...especially as the bees were very active...another job well done..you should be proud of yourself...thanks for sharing......

  • Hi Steph, i was at the top bar workshop with you. awesome videos! do you mind if i share them on facebook? i tried doing video of the process but it's nowhere near as good and informative. i know a bunch of my friends would love to see it.

my queen was also dead and i just put a new queen in. good luck with your beekeeping and hope to see you at the inspection class. Mirela

  • Hi Mirela! Please feel free to share away, that's why I posted them here. I was very dissapointed that the Queen was dead, but grateful for the "extra" experience.

  • Not bad for a first timer.

I've seen it all in my years as a beekeeper. The first part of this adventure shows a lot of first time mistakes but not as many as I have seen before. You need to put the feed can in the TBH so they have something to eat while getting acquainted with the area around the hive. Otherwise a good job. Especially with a disability, which I have now also.

  • @deantn: The syrup can was empty. I already placed a mason jar with fresh syrup inside the hive prior to installation. Any tips, please share!

  • Totally wicked Steph...I'm hooked!
