Wow! You are amazing! I am in love with the products you use!
I have written everything down and plan a shopping trip tomorrow! I went online to Home Depot in Canada and they have BEHR PREMIUM PLUS WITH STYLE Faux Glaze - 946mL for $14.97. It dries clear. Is this what you used? :) Ruthie
@rsingr100 Yes Ruthie that is it. Get a small one to try it out first and make sure you like it! Have fun you can also look for things that make great stencils and patterns while you are there ;)
Awesome book covers! Great idea on using caulking and glazing medium. please link me if you have a video or blog entry on the ironed bubble wrap technique, because that piece was pretty! I sooo want to know more about that!
This was amazing! The quality of products used will allow your book to last a lifetime. Only one question.........how do you keep the book from tearing away from the cover? as so many end up doing? Great video! Loved the Book!
@illigersinSpokane Thank you! I choose books that are sewn spines and not glued. I tear out every other page leaving a 1/4" edge. That usually leaves plenty of room for the painted pages. I don't usually use a lot of think items in my journal pages so the books hold up really well. I did have one book that I tore the spine on, but I learned to remove more pages and that works.
@sasdebosque That depends. When it is an altered book that I am sending away for other artists to work in I will alter the cover first so that the artists can use the cover for additional inspiration. If it is a book I am working on myself I will usually wait and create the cover at the end so that what is inside inspires my design outside.
@Fray4all With this cover I just attached already bound paper by gluing the first and last pages directly to the inside covers. I did not think to show a snapshot of it.
Awesome job. Wow....love it. Thank you for sharring. I really enjoyed watching the whole process. Very inspiring. Beautiful cover. Would love to see more as you go along in your altered book. I'll stay tuned.
I have a daylight lamp on my table and both kitties will lay there just like they would in a sunbeam. But they do traipse all over my work too, Peaches right now has a white paw from walking into a paint cap ;)
Thanks! Yes, DIY stores are filled with great stuff. Just think stencils and walk the isles and you would be amazed at what you 'see' and usually for just change. I'll do a video soon on the many crazy strange things I have picked up and use as stencils and masks from the hardware store.

I'm ultra sensitive to chemistry. What can you tell me about the glazing liquid you use? Are their any warnings on the label? Does it have a scent?

Do you cover the book before, during, of after working the inside?

Brilliant, the cover is so beautiful. How do you get Peaches to just sit and watch, my kitties would be running all over the cover :)
