Yeah I remember how it was near impossible. The only way to beat him it was to have AUTOMATIC or maximumu 4 gear transmission. Because like this your speed was under normal and CEARA too. And to beat him it was necessary to never use the beake. With 7 gears it was necassary to brake sometimes, and like this CEARA every time fo far and more far away!! I just saw the film Senna and I got all these flashbacks of Super Monaco GP. I used to think it had the best graphics and colors, but mostly, I remembered my childhood biggest nemesis: G. Ceara. I'll probably search eBay to find a Genesis, this game and settle the score. Of those first two races after the Championship... after that, it was easy breezy lemon squeezy.

@sampras19 i doubt it as the game only counts in .5 of a second, every lap will end with a .5 or 0, it's not accurate enough to measure within a tenth of a second, watch this video again and you will see every lap ends in 5 or 0

I played SMGP and SMGP2 a lot when i was a child ( about 15 years ago).

I always thought that key to beating G.Ceara lies in slipstream and mantaining top speed over the turns + using fastest possible transmission (7 speed)

I never realy used other transmission.

Today thanks to You i beated G.Ceara for the first time!

Gostei do vídeo, bela corrida, vou tentar fazer isso, pois não sou acostumado a usar 4 marchas, mas 7, nunca consegui ganhar a corrida em cima do ceara, mas o campeonato ganhei, enfim otimo vídeo.

Wow! So that was possible! I always waited till Brazil and just used automatic to go around all the turns at top speed to keep my Madonna car.

After watching this though, I'm surprised I didn't discover how to beat him in the first race with this method. (Probably because I always went 7 gear or automatic when trying to beat him).

G. Ceara is kind of like Lewis Hamilton and Madonna is like Felipe Massa. Madonna catches up and beats G. Ceara in the race, but L.H takes home the championship.

7 gear selection has a problem you reach the last drivers faster so you can't avoid collision or some brake attempts to avoid them. i beat him in auto, i never tried 4 gear i thought i was going to have the same problems with 7 gear. but i see it's easier with 4 gear if you touch a kerb with auto you lose time. Imola is very hard with the auto though, brazil is way too easy

Both choices have their pros and cons, i don'l like to race with auto, but i tested here now with auto, and i found it easier, less speed, so the chances of making mistakes on a curve is much small, and you takes longer to get the pilots who are slower.

He's the same, but you'll just have to use the AUTOMATIC transmission (it worked FAR better than the 4-gear one for me) and do exactly the same as above.

The video is a nice tutorial for people who didn't know it was possible to pull it off. I, fortunately, did. And it saved me years of disappointment. LOL

Isso tem sim, você ganha dele e segura a Madonna, ai espera ele ir te desafiando até que alguém ultrapasse ele no número de pontos, seja desafiado por esse piloto e vá pro carro dele, depois desafia a zero, e da zero desafia a Bullets, G.Ceará vai guiar a Zero kkkk.

Mas isso só acontece em algumas versões do jogo, tem algumas hardcore que nem passar ele você consegue, ele se teleporta quando você chega perto.

Strangely, it's mainly to do with the gearbox that you choose. 4 speed for San Marino and automatic (!) for Brazil. They're usually slower gearboxes but work here.

I played this last night, it isnt impossible to beat him. I was right on Ceara's tail when a bloody backmarker got in my way (Ceara drives straight through them!). I beat him in Brazil (Automatic Gearshift), he challenged me after Brazil but he wasnt fast (unlike the first two races), and after the start of each race, he goes sailing towards the back of the field. Shame that, would have been good if Sega had made him challenge you for longer!
