not one - not fucking ONE - of the so-called "artists" in todays charts has as much energy in their entire bodies as these boys have in their little fingers!
I once walked 9 miles to get home after staying after a gig to talk to TIM. We'd walk a million miles for TIM and the cardiacs. genius. Thank you for uploading this. See you on the facebook page.
I'm totally overawed by this performance. Sheer briliance, and probably the greatest canine intervention in musical history. Great performances all round but it would take something or someone special to top Tim at any time
It would be ironic if someone from the strokes had a heart attack, as Tim had a severe stroke, not a heart attack. He was clinically dead for a while, and can't use his hands properly or sing, far and away the best band ever, but the tribute album 'leader of the starry skies' its amazing and a well deserved cause funding the great mans recovery
we need more Tim Smith's!!.....i have heard that because of good sales of the tribute album Tim has now got a car to take him out of hospital when he has good days.....that man didn't deserve what happened to him.....he is a lovely genius.
@chillimat hi,i to when young like my friends liked is this the life, but my girlfriends brother kept playing there more "strange" sound,i thought it was crap like many others who first hear it,but then somethig clicks and its like youve found a pot of treasure and cant get enough of them, buying there 12 inches before id heard them.i agree to begin with take this and hope day for example, you have to play and play it,even a fan myself, had to play hopeday verse 20 times before it clicks, just try
Is this the life is one of my all time favourite tracks...but this!!..jesus christ!!...just sounds like a sonic mess...like a lot of their stuff its far too quirky and abstract..and probably the reason they never really made it...if they had only gone down the bug wall of sound route in 88...
@danbassuk yeh your right...no reason for them to conform and bring out a tribute album to the sixties..but after 'is the the life' I was expecting a bit more than the avant garde stuff they seem to have as a trademark sound..only popular to a niche market....is this the life must have been their biggest hit..it must have been a hard decision for them to turn their back on a hit formula/sound and possible fame and fortune and stick with what they obviously enjoy doing and are good at.
Google thegenepool tim smith and think whether the 33 years of pleasure he's given is worth just £10 of your cash. Then do the right thing and buy it. It goes straight to Tim. And it's good!
I've just ordered the two tribute albums that have been put together by many different bands/artists as a Tribute to Tim Smith/Cardiacs work. Can't wait to hear them.
@RichardEP hi, i am very interested in a copy of the timebox gig, how can i get a copy? is this the gig they did after the tour they did of Holland? If so i was there

@swedishnitro go to itunes, get the albums[sing to god 1&2,a little man.. on land & in the sea recommended, tho if you love this song get the garage concerts] be amazed, get hooked and youre life will never be the same
@MeenGMeenie when and by who?i was only thinking of this a while ago.thought it would be a great idea if by some miracle someone in the buisness could get the likes of the wildhearts, blur, radiohead, oceansize, patton etc doing a benefit covers album that could get some bucks for tim.fuck knows hes given us a lot over the years..and lets face it,who wouldnt want to hear napalm death cover anything by cardiacs eh
It's a shame that nobody remember this band, especially in this times of mathcore, cause everybody thinks that the bands that mixes progressive music with punk are a recent thing and this guys did it more than 20 years before any mathcore band. But fortunately some great bands like Faith No More, Tool and Radiohead have recognize this guys as a major influence.
The guitar tones are fab.... all of their stuff showed great guitar/amp tones and they've put me back about 10 years playing now. Back to the drawing board!!
@nickjktucker This track was originally written in the early 80's and recorded in 1984, you can find the recordings elsewhere on the tube; this are the rehearsals of the two concerts in which they played all the early stuff written before the first album (that came in 1988) it's all fabulous stuff...
To CASPERCLIMBER: He had a huge heart attack and was dead for a few minutes and they brought him back but he has brain damage and is undergoing neuroligical rehabilitation. I'm not allowed to post links here but if you google "cardiacs", their site is the first hit, and click on "news". Get well soon Tim.
When Steven Wilson shared it, I knew it'd be good...because Steven shared it. And of course he didn't disappoint. I'm excited to have found another awesome band and will be exploring their stuff now.
Growing up where every kid around me listens to this radio crap(Lady gaga, Kesha), makes me very sad. Even if I may seem like I have a bit of an ego I have to say I may be the only one in my entire school who has something reminiscent of a Musical taste. I am currently 14 and listening to these guys, and I have to say, they are fucking amazing,
Superb! Genuis!! Godlike!!! This is one of the greatest things I have ever seen. Would love to see more than the two tracks currently available here from the same session. A wish too far. . . ?
