  • Truly one of the greatest bands who have ever existed.

  • Where's that fucking dog? Yeah!

  • Never heard the second half of this before - excellent :)

  • not one - not fucking ONE - of the so-called "artists" in todays charts has as much energy in their entire bodies as these boys have in their little fingers!

  • Lummy.

    I mean Yummy

  • Fuckin' awesome

  • Awesome

  • Oups... I think I had a musical orgasm....

  • Fenton!

  • They should just release an entire "practice" DVD like this. I would buy the shit out of this!

  • @lukerbob seconded

  • @lukerbob thirded

  • @lukerbob Add a CD to the package and im with you.

  • @lukerbob fourthed!! (Best comment i've read in a long time..... made me laugh out loud!)

  • words cannot describe how utterly lovely this is xxx

    (I am here you bastards!!)

  • I once walked 9 miles to get home after staying after a gig to talk to TIM. We'd walk a million miles for TIM and the cardiacs. genius. Thank you for uploading this. See you on the facebook page.

  • @foxintheforest 9 miles! Try London to birmingham...in the snow...worth every blister tho :)

  • There are NO others who come close. Cardiacs are beyond good. Simply just the band that by which all others must be judged. Fact.

  • it's worth switching on your computer just to listen to this.

  • @testingonetwo1 Oh, I concur!

  • i wish they'd release this on DVD. (at least i can't find it anywhere) I have the Wildhearts DVD that Tim did & its amazing.

  • I'm totally overawed by this performance. Sheer briliance, and probably the greatest canine intervention in musical history. Great performances all round but it would take something or someone special to top Tim at any time

  • Talent, pure talent.

  • glad to see it passed the 100 k mark!

  • Awesome!

  • Sick, sick, sick! Love it!

  • wow - only just came across this video! jim is a good sport!

  • memories

  • "Oh... fffucking dog!"

  • So cool for a bunch of old dudes.

  • This has just become the first Cardiacs video to hit 100,000 views. Usually I don't give a shit over view counts, but I'm proud of this one.

    Get well Timmy.

  • @GingerPimpernel the old tarred and feathered vid made 100K 2 years ago before it was put down

  • @GingerPimpernel Adam, hello there. Guess who?

  • @thatstidy Haha, this could be practically anyone from the Facebook page! Steve?

  • It would be ironic if someone from the strokes had a heart attack, as Tim had a severe stroke, not a heart attack. He was clinically dead for a while, and can't use his hands properly or sing, far and away the best band ever, but the tribute album 'leader of the starry skies' its amazing and a well deserved cause funding the great mans recovery

  • 3 people had a hart attack when they heard this song...

  • They should release all these on CD. Love the rehearsal vids.

  • this is now a legendary corner of the internet.

  • Embrasser le grand requin laide!

  • "Fucking Dog " Epic!!

  • i so love this. whoever edited this video footage into this absolute GEM deserves a place in high heaven

  • A heart-attack spells the end of cardiacs, the irony :(

Thanks for years of high-strung, mind-boggling and utterly genious music.

  • I would buy a DVD of Cardiacs rehearsals. I would happily pay for a couple of hours of this. Outstanding!

  • we need more Tim Smith's!!.....i have heard that because of good sales of the tribute album Tim has now got a car to take him out of hospital when he has good days.....that man didn't deserve what happened to him.....he is a lovely genius.

  • WHERES THE FUCKIN DOG

  • @chillimat hi,i to when young like my friends liked is this the life, but my girlfriends brother kept playing there more "strange" sound,i thought it was crap like many others who first hear it,but then somethig clicks and its like youve found a pot of treasure and cant get enough of them, buying there 12 inches before id heard them.i agree to begin with take this and hope day for example, you have to play and play it,even a fan myself, had to play hopeday verse 20 times before it clicks, just try

  • Is this the life is one of my all time favourite tracks...but this!!..jesus christ!!...just sounds like a sonic mess...like a lot of their stuff its far too quirky and abstract..and probably the reason they never really made it...if they had only gone down the bug wall of sound route in 88...

  • @PeckhamExile stuck to their guns I guess. Can't fault them for that.

  • @danbassuk yeh your right...no reason for them to conform and bring out a tribute album to the sixties..but after 'is the the life' I was expecting a bit more than the avant garde stuff they seem to have as a trademark sound..only popular to a niche market....is this the life must have been their biggest hit..it must have been a hard decision for them to turn their back on a hit formula/sound and possible fame and fortune and stick with what they obviously enjoy doing and are good at.

  • Fucking amazing and so little of this talent around now, get well soon Tim, we miss you!

  • Liked his expression 2:37

  • Music only Niels Bohr could explain. Still, very catchy.

  • FUCKIN' DOGS!!

  • Who da hell are these guys?! They're soooo weird. Oh my god....I think I have a new favorite band.

  • So happy to have been a fish in the pond ;) Stiil wear my "i am in it" badge with pride. Tim your a fukin genius squire. Much love

  • Thank you, Mike Vennart!

  • i want to hear you say yes

  • Google thegenepool tim smith and think whether the 33 years of pleasure he's given is worth just £10 of your cash. Then do the right thing and buy it. It goes straight to Tim. And it's good!

  • Please buy the tribute albums as all funds from them go towards Tim Smith's treatment.

  • Fucking dogs!

  • I love this!

  • Love the last 2 seconds. The drummer pretty much represented everyone who listened to this song. Fantastic stuff.

  • I've just ordered the two tribute albums that have been put together by many different bands/artists as a Tribute to Tim Smith/Cardiacs work. Can't wait to hear them.

  • @RichardEP-i am interested.are you selling or is it a friendly gesture :-] any chance of a dvd transfer?

  • I've got a VHS of their set at The Timebox around 1986 that I filmed if anybody's interested

  • @RichardEP So upload it!!

  • @RichardEP hi, i am very interested in a copy of the timebox gig, how can i get a copy? is this the gig they did after the tour they did of Holland? If so i was there

  • It don't get better than this Gunius

  • This is just fantastic but every time I what it makes me sad get well soon tim

  • Get well Tim!

  • Fan Fucking Tastic.. I also saw them in 1987 and was blown away, still am, I need a copy of The Seaside, All the best Tim,get well soon

  • Genius!

  • THIS FUCKING SONG IS INSANE IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE NOTHING ELSE

  • I have a feeling Cardiacs lyrics will stick longer than lady gaga's...

  • @zombiegod I totally agree: comparable lyrics youll find on our channel ;)

  • Saw them in 1987, full of LSD, life changing? oh yes. Tim is the de facto composer of modern rock.

  • Utter, utter genius.

Was the dog part of it? Who knows but I think it added to the insanity.

Cardiacs were so tight with their timings too.

    Bliss.

  • The worst part was when it ended.

  • I'm really not easily moved. This clip changed my life. fffffff uuuuuuuuuuulllll sssssssttttttttttttooooooooopppppppppp.

  • memories!

  • Too good for words... Where is that dog?

  • Too good for words...

  • A 13 Year old girl listening to nothing but a band who formed in 1977? Incredible what this band can do :)

  • Love how he says "something or other" at the very end LOL

  • Get well Tim, and find that fuckin' dog!

  • Where's the fucking dog?

  • not as good as Silvery are they lol

  • all thoughts for Tim!

  • SKA!

  • CARDIACS FANS, old and brand new... You may know that Tim Smith suffered a serious heart attack and needs long-term care.

** Pop open iTunes, download some Cardiacs material and HELP FUND this. And 'like' this up to the top, to keep 'em coming. **

He won't play again, but let's thank him for all the wonderful noises and send something his way...

  • @toynoise i love this band so dont take this the wrong way! but dont anyone think its quite ironic that the bands name is Cardiac and Tim Smith suffered a heart attack that could of leaded to cardiac arrest ??(Thank god he didnt)

  • @toynoise f only we could do more...

  • I've never heard anything like this before, I'm blown away.

  • @swedishnitro go to itunes, get the albums[sing to god 1&2,a little man.. on land & in the sea recommended, tho if you love this song get the garage concerts] be amazed, get hooked and youre life will never be the same

  • Look out for a Tim Smith benefit album soon peeps!!!

    Get well soon Timmy!

  • @MeenGMeenie when and by who?i was only thinking of this a while ago.thought it would be a great idea if by some miracle someone in the buisness could get the likes of the wildhearts, blur, radiohead, oceansize, patton etc doing a benefit covers album that could get some bucks for tim.fuck knows hes given us a lot over the years..and lets face it,who wouldnt want to hear napalm death cover anything by cardiacs eh

  • @bellyeyed All i know for sure is that Oceansize are on it, which is no bad thing.

If you wanna chat to fellow Cardiacs mentallists about it and other related stuff go and visit the mares nest forum...

    cardiacs org/forum

  • WHERE'S THE FUCKING DOG?

  • It's a shame that nobody remember this band, especially in this times of mathcore, cause everybody thinks that the bands that mixes progressive music with punk are a recent thing and this guys did it more than 20 years before any mathcore band. But fortunately some great bands like Faith No More, Tool and Radiohead have recognize this guys as a major influence.

  • The guitar tones are fab.... all of their stuff showed great guitar/amp tones and they've put me back about 10 years playing now. Back to the drawing board!!

  • Fucking geniuses. I am sorry I missed seeing this band in their prime live. JEEZZZ...

Get well Tim! I need to hear even more.... what is up with the rest of the whole band?

  • Isn't that the guitarist from Guapo? Yes.

  • @lilasbua Yes, it's him :) He plays in Cardiacs since 2003...

  • cant see who is playing the organ/piano

  • Comment removed

  • @duffdeluxe It's a playback tape. The keyboardist William D. Drake left in some time between 1989-90. He could not be replaced.

  • early material??? they been goin years and years and look old ere

  • @nickjktucker This track was originally written in the early 80's and recorded in 1984, you can find the recordings elsewhere on the tube; this are the rehearsals of the two concerts in which they played all the early stuff written before the first album (that came in 1988) it's all fabulous stuff...

  • I fucking love this to bits, end of.

    Get well soon Tim!

  • this song made me lol

  • Thank You Steven Wilson!

  • What a tune! AND Alan Davies on guitar!

  • @howlindan49 Isn't it Kavus Torabi?

  • @armandbourgoignie Yeah it is, he just looks like the comedian Alan Davies in this video though

  • To CASPERCLIMBER: He had a huge heart attack and was dead for a few minutes and they brought him back but he has brain damage and is undergoing neuroligical rehabilitation. I'm not allowed to post links here but if you google "cardiacs", their site is the first hit, and click on "news". Get well soon Tim.

  • @joanne3420 Thanks a bunch! I could have looked it up myself, but I decided to look one here.

  • @CASPERCLIMBER doesn't know why he said one, he meant " on here".

  • So I see a lot of people saying "Get well, Tim!" What is wrong with him?

  • we all are Steven Wilson's adepts... and we are glad to follow his direction towards great music

  • This is incredible. Reminds me of the intense Cardiacs show I saw in 1992. Haha, at first, I thought the bass player was Dave Thomas from Pere Ubu.

  • They reanimated prog!

  • You dont see lady gaga bursting out with this much talent . And look how far she has gotten :s either way its awesome :)

  • Superb!

  • When Steven Wilson shared it, I knew it'd be good...because Steven shared it. And of course he didn't disappoint. I'm excited to have found another awesome band and will be exploring their stuff now.

  • They must have been listening to Mr. Bungle.

  • @tylthomas Who has been listening to who? Cardiacs first album (which includes this track) 1984, Mr Bungle's first album 1991. I rest my case.

  • @streaminfinite I think you are absolutely right.

  • Like this if Steven Wilson sent you here

  • @zzalybyrd : lol

  • @zzalybyrd

yeahh Steven Wilson sent me here too!!!

  • @zzalybyrd yes indeed. lol

  • @zzalybyrd No, for me it was Mike Vennart from Oceansize ;)

  • @zzalybyrd Can I not like this if it wasn't? (I didn't)

  • Tim, I'd sooooo marry you right now.

    Genius! Pure, insane, genius.

  • ARE THERE ANY BANDS LIKE THIS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW!?

  • @likeahawkk Už Jsme Doma

  • amazing, i wonder why i've never heared about them before

  • Where's the facking dog????

  • Growing up where every kid around me listens to this radio crap(Lady gaga, Kesha), makes me very sad. Even if I may seem like I have a bit of an ego I have to say I may be the only one in my entire school who has something reminiscent of a Musical taste. I am currently 14 and listening to these guys, and I have to say, they are fucking amazing,

  • I love how much dogs feature in Cardiacs music. Just the word "dog" in Tims voice cracks me up now.

  • oh my giddy aunt.

  • Cardiacs remind me of Cardiacs.

All the best for your recovery, Mr Timmy

  • The most amazing thing I think I have ever seen in my life

  • What albums this off?

  • holy fark! I luve it!!
