IS quite idiosyncratic music, still its great. I appreciate that Percy not goes for showing off. Instead he is tuning down the bass a bit. Thanks for posting
Someone asked who I think is good: Nat Baldwin, Tony Levin, Greg Cohen, Paul Jackson(Herbie Hancock), John Patitucci(Wayne Shorter), Ron Carter, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, John Paul Jones, Chris Squire, Tina Weymouth, Del Palmer(70's and 80's Kate Bush), Mark Dresser, Colin Greenwood, Armistead Burwell Smith IV, Bootsy Collins, James Jamerson, Ngouma Lokito. I'm leaving out a bunch of great players, but you can get an idea from this list. Sorry for all the hostility.
Good list. Need to check some out that are new to me.
My additions in no order, some of whom I'd be willing to bet you dig as well:
Eddie Gomez, Anthony Jackson, Michael Manring Tom Kennedy, Mingus, Jaco, Jack Bruce, Percy Heath, Stanley Clarke, Abrahama Laboriel, Jeff Berlin, Nathan East, Greg Willis, Victor Bailey, Phil Upchurch, Baron Browne. Tal Wilkenfeld
didn't notice any hostility, then again i skip right over that stuff; life's too short.... lists are cool, though ;)
I came on a bit strong with my previous comment-I'll admit that. I still don't like this stuff at all, but I don't think it's as bad as my last comments implied. Also, what I meant to say with my last comment was that technical proficiency doesn't always mean that someone is creative, tasteful, or even a good musician. Would you say that a professional stenographer is a great writer because their technically more proficient than others on a keyboard?
whoa. a link from an old genesis video brings me to this nightmare of a performance?
billy cobham, phil collins, mahavishnu?
get crucial.
these nonsense melody lines are STRAIT GARBAGE, not to mention the inane drumming. actually, if it weren't for the live drums, i would be ready to believe this was entirely constructed in TabIT 2.0
Seriously?! People think this bass playing is actually good? As in not cheesy? Can we all take a step back here? The bass playing is insanely idiotic. He's already toeing the line by playing with a fretless electric, not to mention the inherent cheesiness of the actual lines. Just because someone is good at their instrument doesn't mean what they play is good.
what a bad idea for a fusion jazz robots rocking with their nobs out

That's not a Wal at all, it's a custom Ibanez with the AFR body shape, Mahogany body and piezo pickup.
