  • WOW IT REALLY IS GREAT GRAFFICS

  • did he say "sky fucks"?

  • aaahhhh EA and Activision before they became monopolies :D

  • Could have been a great system had it been released in 1984 like originally planned and had it had better sound. It also needed many of the classic arcade games it lacked such as Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Frogger, Q-Bert, Galaxian, and more. Some of these games were made after market but way too late.

  • EPIX? and wtf is GLOXGFDGFHERMOX??!! oh, yeah, and SHIT IT'S SO REALISTIC MOFOOOO.

  • I still have my 7800... actually its my mom's - dad bought it for her when they were dating :)

... and then I was born in 87 lol

  • lifelike animations! HA! xD

  • @purplefreak7410 yeah! i actually moved it back so i could hear the guy say that again. i can't believe we actually believed at some point in time that those graphics were "lifelike". and in 1988 i would have totally agreed with them. my brother mentioned last night that when "double dragon" was released, he figured that graphics couldn't get any better than that. that was as lifelike as they could possibly be.

  • Skyfox..?

  • Electronic arts= EA

  • From such top software companies as Activision, Electronics Arts, and other corporations that put out the same game year after year and expect you to buy it again.

  • one of those on ebay right now with 22 games cool to see the original commercial

    ebay. co.uk/itm/250974509574?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649#ht_5080wt_1251

  • "and skyfox"

    star fox?

  • I lol'D ''life like animtions''

  • I think its cool that Activision and EA were just as big as they are now

  • LMFAO Winter Games.. Avgns review of that is so hilarious xD

  • activsion makes call of duty thats funny

  • "Great graphics"

  • lol i laughed my ass off when he said life like animation XD

  • should have bought that electronic arts stock!!! im an idiot

  • Activision, Electronic Arts?, things haven't changed That much

  • HAHAHA sky fox what happend to star fox

  • great graphics check, life like animation check, good sound effects check.

  • "life-like animations" lol

  • DICKTITS.

  • I lol'd at ACTIVISION

    lol

  • activision and ea?? wow they have some years behind them i see.

  • @supervegito2277 activision were the first third party company

before activision all games were exclusive to their console, like the atari only had games made by atari

activision changed all this to the way gaming is today

  • Did he just say Activision?

  • @plamenxyzpenchev yeah, activision were the first ever third person company , before activisiom, only atari made games for atari, activision was the first to change gaming to the way we know it today

  • @plamenxyzpenchev yeah activision was one of the first 3rd party developers

  • @plamenxyzpenchev yes activision was out since the atari 2600 when they made pitfall

  • @plamenxyzpenchev

Yes, it was originally part of (well the) game division of atari but because of new management the started a separate company.

  • under 100 dollars :O

  • imagine cod on that

  • Fresh haircuts

  • 0:17 i wasnt paying attention and thought he said "...winter Olympics and sky fu*ks.." HAHAHAH

  • lol Activision, and EA back then!!

  • EA, hahaha there a joke

  • LOL winter games, AVGN taught me all about that.

  • Now the latest games from Activision and Electronic Arts are Call of Duty MW3 and Battlefield 3, who'd have thunk it.

  • QWOP

  • THIS CONSOLE GOT ITS ASS OWNED BY NINTENDO

  • XD Lol its amazing this was soo realistic back then. I was born in the 90's and I played Resident Evil Veronica (yeah not good for 7-8 year old to play) and I thought that was the most realistic and human like game that was created XD

  • and EA?

  • damn, when was activision founded?!

  • Activision is still kickin today lool. And they're still making the best game franchise ever.

  • activision.. EA?

  • lifelike animation? really?

  • Just look at those groundbreaking graphics!

  • @Zekium

The NES was released before the atari 7800

  • And then, the NES came out in Europe and USA...

  • Genesis does what Atarin't.

  • @grim10fire Funny you could do it with most companies Nintendo is what Genesisn't and the actual phrase Genesis does what Nintendon't *you know that already* Atari does what Colecan"t?

  • @roleplayingnoob I know dat. Anyhow, Happy New Year.

  • In the late 1980's, if the game manufacturer was not Japanese, the game would get boring after a while.

  • NES was better in terms of gameplay because of Super Mario Bros and I believe The Legend of Zelda was released that year if not 1987. Also it was $80 dollars at launch so it was as much affordable as the 7800. Not saying the 7800 was bad, it was much better then the 5200, it was just too late when they released it. Galaga I think is my favorite 7800 game

  • I'm offended by the term "Lifelike animations."

  • Build time machine and go to the past.... I bring you Xbox 360 :P

  • @narutosrei yeah, that would cost as much about as a car, or even a new house.

  • 0:19 Atari proudly presents a flagship title, SKY FUCKS!

  • Starfox? I BET THEY DIDN'T DO A BARREL ROLL

  • @ZeldaMario24 lol. But he says Skyfox.

  • @SNESIvan looks like it

  • its funny because now we dont even need controllers to play games

  • "The 7800 is one of the best home videogame consoles in the world" I'd like to see Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo dare to say that in their next commercial.

  • It only cost $100? I guess that does not make it as bad.

  • So what we're seeing here is basically a bunch C64 ports.

  • I want the song!

  • Also at that time they were advertising the "new" 2600 for 49.99

  • Wow those controllers sucked! Colecovision's weren't much better. The greatest controller at the time was the Intellivision ones. Overlays...16 point direction disc...it was awesome!

  • @DickLodge68 By that logic, Atari 5200 should be best.

It had overlays and an analog joystick.

  • @CODMarioWarfare Not at all. Intellivision came out almost five years before the 5200 and still had a better controllers.

  • LOL @ life-like animations

  • The Atari 7800 . With controllers not even the people in the commercial can hold.

  • Under $100? What a great deal!

  • 0:5 that girl is just ugly

  • 0:23 he actually said "life-like animation" hahahhaha........!!!!!!

  • @jrzc pshh i bet a decent gaming pc has better animations

  • @flamingarse1 Comparing modern computers to ancient consoles, are we? =3

But no, if you look at commodore 64 (arguably the best computer back then) it was about as powerful as the 7800.....

And back then, PC (as in, the x86 architecture created by IBM, used in modern PC's, and invented in the early 80's) was a business only solution that HAD NO GRAPHICS AT ALL! Just text! PC was considered a computer for "serious users"

  • LOL WINTER GAMES

  • 0:17 i gotta admit that version of winter games looks way better than the one on the NES

  • I hated this system, the only game i liked for this system was Pole position 2.

  • wait so atari 7800 was like 8 bit? so what was the 2600? like 2 bit?

  • @Falcondick69 No the Atari 2600 was 8 bit also just less powerful then the 7800.The 7800 has more horse Power and can display more colors on screen then the 2600.

  • @barlog20 it also has tracking and scaling too.

  • "Will be released to take advantage or the 7800's great graphics , life-like animation and superb sound effects" - Sorry , I couldn't not laugh when I heard this ...

I imagine what would it be like if I came to 1980 with my PS3 and LCD TV and showed them games like Uncharted ... hmm ....

  • @BassOutcast I 30 years someone will read your post and laugh at your crummy PS3. Don't be such a bore...

  • @Eastcoastdude99 Foodfight? I LOVED food fight. But I hated those goddamn chefs!!Unlimited watermelons FTW

  • The Atari 7800 wasn't quite as good as Nintendo or Sega graphics wise, but it was still a great console. Food fight was the fuckin shit!

  • Comment removed

  • Alien brigade was amazing i still have my 7800.

  • @Feathery0 If you hated that controller you will probably hate the Atari 5200 controller. It did not work half the time and although it had an inavative addition, a pause button, but it was just bad. Yes, the Atari 7800 controller was a breeze compared to the Atari 5200 controller.

  • Sky fox? well maybe its fox in 8 bit

  • eu juro que eu amaria ter um desse =(

  • I hear that same music at the movie theater...

  • 0:18 Sky-Fucks! :P

  • poorly supported system. The controllers could have easily been fixed. too bad

  • lol life-like graphics :'D

  • 0:18 My favorite game, Sky Fucks!

  • Does anyone know what the name of the music playing during this video is?

  • keep clicking (either) 18 or 19 and hell keep saying fucks

  • magnavox did

  • 1980's = mostley everywhere 2010 through = yard sales'dumps,and other small old places

  • Oh Atari this wasn't an immediate hit sadly.

These kids look too happy by the way

  • I got it for christmas and the controller did not work so beated it up in my school with my friends

  • does the atari 7800 even have pac man?

  • @HCkev u watched AVGN before watching this didnt u

  • Atari should have learned how to design a decent controller before instead of releasing 3 Atari consoles in less than 10 years. The 2600 controller was okay, but the 5200 and 7800 controllers were dog shit.

  • its a bad sign when you list winter games as one of your flagship titles!

  • In some ways it was a much more capable console then the NES but lacked a good controller and exclusive titles like Super Mario.

  • WINTER GAMES? LOL No wonder this thing failed

  • @CONKER17 Winter Games was one of the worst video games of all time. The NES version was the worst, and most watered down even though it was supposed to be a successor to the Atari 2600 version.

  • @MIKON8ERISBACK I know o.o i said that because i had saw the AVGN video :3

  • The 7800 was not a bad console itself. Unfortunately, the control pads were fucking shit.

  • @andoc What about the European game pads they were better

  • @andoc

in europe we had a better controller

  • @superstrok99 In mother Russia, controller moves you!

  • @andoc I'll take a C-64 any day over an Atari 7800. Hundreds or maybe a thousand more games as well to choose from.

  • @andoc Go to Europe! They had NES-like control pads there in Europe. In the PAL region, the 7800 was far more successful there, and people over there constantly complained about the terrible controllers, so Atari released the Streamlined Joy Pad in Europe and Australia only, as not enough consumers in America bought a 7800 to complain about it.

  • @andoc

To be fair though, you could use a 2600 joystick or even genesis controller when it came out a few years later. Try that with the crap 5200.

  • @andoc I cant imagine all of the people used to play this game with this graphics :P

  • @andoc only the us control pads the eu ones were goodd

  • @andoc

Luckily, you could use your 2600 controllers with it and a few years later a Sega Genesis controller. So it wasn't really that big of an issue.

  • if i went back in time with a 360 and black ops i cound make some serious heads explode

  • Too bad they didn't know they were gonna get their asses kicked by Nintendo, but it's funny that they give shout outs to EA and Activision.

  • i bet activision didn't expect to be where they are today!

  • this takes me back...

  • ROFL Sky Fucks.

  • The sad thing is i can remember having one of these back in the 80s haha

  • I wish i could go back in time with a PS3. Just saying, probably get me laid... yeah, it wont.

  • lol @ skyfucks.

  • under 100 dollars!!!

  • hahahah sky fucks!

  • Sky fucks looks so foxing cool!

  • SKY FUCKS?! LMAO

    Also, Kwikii1 its at 0:16 :P

  • I like how the kids look like they are hypnotized.

  • Lifelike animations LOL!!!!

  • sky fucks?

  • God, how I hate these vidyatards everywhere, who don't even have hair down there but think they're smart loling at a 25 yo old hardware.

They can't even figure that the beloved ps3 they sleep with each night will be only marginally less obsolete than the 7800 in 20 years from now.

  • @EricBarbman The funny thing is that the kids that grew up to design and implement the modern systems.

  • This guy would have died if he saw the PS3 back then xD.

  • pff... great graphics lol

  • Lifelike animation?

  • everybody shit talks the 7800 but it's still a fun console. yeah obviously zelda and mario 3 blew it out of the water we all know that but it's still worth playing, btw desert falcon is an awesome game

  • Every title demo'd here was available for the Commodore-64... What my brother talked my parents into getting instead, and it was able to use the "classic" 2600-style controllers. Not to mention there were several after-market 2600 controllers to choose from.

  • my bro bought a 7800 in 1990 for 25 bucks, the store was blowing them out.

  • Atari reinvented the video game? No no no, NINTENDO reinvented the video game, Atari destroyed the video game in 1983.

  • @Lightness1882 Atari destroyed the video game in 1983 by what, not being unable to control the flood of shit being dumped onto the market? Not their fault in the least.

  • @Lightness1882 Atari played their part with duds like the 2600 version of "Pac-Man", but plenty of others were involved in the crash as well. Also, everybody talks about the video game crash as if it was a worldwide thing, when it largely only affected North America.

  • @Lightness1882 and anyways, magnavox invented the videogame

  • @neonrider93 Magnavox invented the first video game console, perhaps. But it is Thomas T. Goldsmith, Jr. who invented the video game all the way back in 1948!

  • @Lightness1882 1. Your comment is US-centric (and perhaps Canada-centric), as the North American video game crash of '83 mainly affected....North America; 2. Saying Atari killed the entire industy is taking things too far...there were plenty of causes for it, including: Too many competing consoles, too many untrained 3rd-party publishers, people preferring to play games on home computers instead of consoles, etc.

  • @Lightness1882 Well it wasnt Atari as they made good games but other people where making so real crap games for it and that helped bring them down. However Activision did make some really great games for the 2600 ,Nintendo put the lock out chip in their system to try and stop this

  • lol winter games lol

  • This music RULES!

  • I like how the focus of the commercial is games that are going to be out but aren't out yet... lol. Kinda like the PS3 @ launch

  • 7800 has horrible sound and music.

  • @Rachman1337 Your mom has horrible sound and music.

  • life like animations? suberb sound effects? ahhahahahahahahha nope!

  • SUPERB SOUND EFFECTS

  • Did that dude Just say Life Like Graphics Lmao!!!

  • Wouldn't it be hard to fuck and fly a plane at the smae time? Especially when shit's being shot at you!

  • skyfucks looks like a good game haha

  • 00:17 he says sky fucks

  • marketing rule #1 never call your costumers consumers

  • Those games did look ok but nobody wanted to play a damn Atari anymore by 1987. Nintendo had more money, better game creators and got a few deals with real things like MLB.

  • "great graphics"

  • "Superb" sound effects?! Bullshit! It used the same freakin' chip as the 2600! :P

  • The Atari 7800 was a few years too late :/ but you can't deny it's not classic Atari AWESOMENESS!

  • ... taking advantage of its amazig graphics... haha, well
