im only on day 6 with my dog snoopy but he is already walking beside me with no hands..which is good. and i get the drive by petting too...which makes me mad. im trying to get a vest for training and no petting patch. it distracts the dogs when people try and pet or talk to the dog. also, how do you handle the situation such as the chihuala? just keep walking like you did? because my dog sees a dog and wants to go crazy and not listen. so how do i help him with that?
@melodyrain7 Try training your dog to touch your hand or watch you, and start out in low distraction environments. Then gradually work up to being closer and closer to other dogs and doing this attention command. I'd suggest getting an evaluation from a professional trainer. They can see all the nuances of what is going on with Snoopy and evaluate his temperament for service work, and help you train him to ignore other dogs.
I saw that other drive by petting also. Barkley lets me know when people are petting his behind by looking behind him, and going in front of me. Good job Ollie!

He does have to be a little pushy sometimes to keep filming me! He says he had to cut in front of someone on the escalator, but then his phone battery ran out anyway.
LOL! Missed that one! Hubby says people do drive-by pets all the time, but I've never noticed before. Guess it is easy not to notice since people don't really have to bend over that much to pet him, and since his body is so darn long.
