It is a shame they're, note spelling, they're, it's not hard, it's a contraction (squashed together) of two English words....they.....are..... they're. There is over THERE. Their is belongs to them. They're is they are. FFS, it's not that difficult, especially for English speakers.
@snedie69er He didn't claim to be an expert... But what he said makes sense... They shorted the landing for one reason or another, so it had to be flared to increase stopping force...
@snedie69er He could be right, you know, it is a logical explanation as to why he flares like that. But tell you what, since you're such an expert, why don't you explain it to us?
@TheTriforcebearer it's a small landing maneuver that makes landings smoother, puts less stress on the front wheels and slow down the plane before fully touching down. when an aircraft is approaching the runway, it will be slightly pointing nose down. flaring means the pilots pull back on the controls, so that the nose points up right before touching the ground. in this case, the pilot kept pulling back for too long, causing the plane to wheelie for too long before all the wheels touch down.
It is an old aircraft that is why is been retired like 727 737-100 and 200 series the L-1011 The DC-9 DC-10 DC-8 they getting old and those airframe only can hold for so many cicles
It is an old aircraft that is why is been retired like 727 737-100 and 200 series the L-1011 The DC-9 DC-10 DC-8 they getting old and those airframe only can hold for someny cicles
I noticed that a lot of times when I see pilots land the A300 they usually have an extreme flare, to the point of you think they're gonna touch & go... Why is that?
@AirbusA330Pilot i was an instructor/check airman in that type for 7 years and it just looks like a lightweight landing to me... he did use aerodynamic braking which isn't recommended but certainly not by any means "insane"..
@AirbusA330Pilot maybe to someone who hasn't seen very much in this business. anyway, i'm pretty bored with the topic,, give it up will you please... I've got aircraft to fly not talk about, I don't know if you actually fly airplanes but you won't be calling this "insane" if you ever get some real experience. Good luck.. over and out..
@altazboy he i never wanted to start such a fight, I just mentioned my opinion.. but I can not unterstand how you call that a normal flare when the aircraft's tail is just centimeters away from touching the runway :S and one other thing to put straight: Ive got big experience about airplanes...
@AirbusA330Pilot I'd have to agree with altazboy here ... the aircraft is landing on 23R at Manchester, and there's a hump at about 1,500' down the runway. Viewed from this angle, it looks as though the tail is close to the ground, but it's something of an optical illusion.
i used to fly the &47-400 in to Manchester for a number of years, and it's something f an art-form to avoid the 'hump'.
nah that wasnt bad. Besides theres a piece of metal on the back of these planes that you can just barely see in this vid, that scrapes instead of the tail.
speaking of THE 757'S, due to a technical hitch with an airbus a-321 i flew on flight ZB595-Boeing 757-2T7-G-MONJ on Aug 19th on a delayed night flight from Faro to Manchester, a lovely flight indeed. i live the 757's and of course the sound of the engines when they kick in on take-off.
@DaddyElephant yup be happy fedex and ups are gonna keep the a300's in there fleet until 2020 and monarch are gonna phase out a300's and replace it with 777 and there gonna keep there a310's
@knaphilllee sorry but Mon arent scrapping their 757's in favour of 321's ...the 757's that departed were of high hours ....the 321's do not have the range of the 757's and will never be an ideal replacement for them. Out of the four that left the Mon fleet only two were retired from flying service ...the other two went to Fedex.
i love this aircarft. i went on the G-MAJS on the 5th and the 12th of september from gatwick and from rhodes. beutiful aircraft from monarch and airbus. i had the right amount of money i would buy G-MAJS. i luv her lol

Looks to me like he let his speed decay a bit too much in his final seconds before landing.... hence pulling the nose up so much during the "flare"

insane??? why??? looks like a light-weight normal landing to me..

@altazboy he pulls up the nose way too much so that he almost got a tail strike, and after touch down the nose came down very late
