Why do these Pride fighters have such explosive careers, and then fizzle when they hit the UFC? Such as Wanderlei and Crocop? Pride fixed their fights.. this is why they were never sanctioned. Sure, from an age perspective, they were relatively young but they were in so many fights that they are old in terms of fighting age. You must believe everything that Chael Sonnen says - even he doesn't believe everything he says. Pride was never sanctioned because they don't have athletic commissions in Japan - its a different culture over there. If Wanderlei's chin wasn't shot, he'd still be a force.

Wanderlei or Vanderlei is the most respected and hated on fighter in the UFC. He should just be given a shot at Anderson Silva because he would knock out that arrogance from Anderson Silva. I train my similar to wanderlei in his chute boxe/Pride FC/ Middleweight Champion days because that aggresion is needed now.

Bull. Pride was also loaded with talent then. Pride fighters that are losing now - Gomi, Big Nog, Herring, and Wand- were already showing signs of wear and tear before ever making the change. Lil Nog, Rampage, Hendo, and Anderson Silva are doing pretty well in the cage. Once Shogun's leg healed, he had little trouble making it straight to the top...sans steroids. Wand was done when CroCop kicked him in the head. Damn myself for arguing with MMA noobs on youtube!

Wanderlei or Vanderlei is the most respected and hated on fighter in the UFC. He should just be given a shot at Anderson Silva because he would knock out that arrogance from Anderson Silva. People don't give Wanderlei and some other Ex Pride legends their repsect like Dan Henderson once he left the UFC and went to Strikeforce. I train my similar to wanderlei in his chute boxe/Pride FC/ Middleweight Champion days because that aggresion is needed now.

yea silva is only 33 and that might be prime for some guys but u have to realize the WARS this guy went through while in pride .... he was on a 22 fight winstreak (got robbed in 1st mirko fight) and while at 205 - HE WAS FIGHTING HEAVYWEIGHTS!! look at his 2 fights with Crocop and Fujita - not only that but Chute Boxe wasnt what u call a easy camp to be a part of - they used to knock each other out in training

@UPaYBacK when he fought cro cop wanderlei weighed in at 223 pounds and mirko weighed in at 218. Mirko is one of the smallest heavy weights of all time and dismantled silva. I love silva too but get your facts straight.

Bull. Pride was also loaded with talent then. Pride fighters that are losing now - Gomi, Big Nog, Herring, and Wand- were already showing signs of wear and tear before ever making the change. Lil Nog, Rampage, Hendo, and Anderson Silva are doing pretty well in the cage. Once Shogun's leg healed, he had little trouble making it straight to the top...sans steroids. Wand was done when CroCop kicked him in the head. Damn myself for arguing with MMA noobs on youtube!

@SothisAmon right but because there is a better talent pool in the wieght class doesnt count for bieng out of your prime.He used to be the best because there was less skilled fighters and unknown skill now the wieght class is so stacked to be the best is a hard challenge..

@dietermauer The real diff. is in pride you had to fight agresive or you lost money .
also the fans did care if you lost or won long as you put on a fight.And pride didnt kick you out if you lost.
Ufc is more counter fight more staliing and more tatical and if you loose 2 fights in a row your gone you also didnt loose money for stalling..

I have to assume that anyone who doesn't notice the difference between Wanderlei now and the Wanderlei of 2003 doesn't really understand combat sports very well. His ability to take punishment hasn't been the same since the second Mirko fight. his speed, reflexes, hyper-aggression and recuperative powers are not the same. Also, the notion that MMA has made quantum leaps in the past 5 years is Zuffa hyperbole.
