  • you take over the song and your not in tempo .... your not relaxed and your noy getting into the song man ..... nice bass guitar though... practice getting into what you play is a craft you must master

  • 0:19 flirting with the camera? :D

  • I have 3 Jaydees on the way and am excited to get them...2 coming from UK

  • sweet Jaydee, and looks as good as new, always have had a soft spot for them since i seen tony franklin play a fretless one back in the day..fair play mate great job...look after the Jaydee not so many around..

  • @ridgebackdk Thanks, man. It's an '87 that I refurbished using new parts from John Diggins. I had heard Tony Franklin's fretless Roadie and loved that sound. Don't worry, my Jaydee's aren't going anywhere.

  • @Mowac Jaydee's ??? you have more than one,,,ya swine lol...:) fair play to ya..wish tony would go back to the jaydee i think his one was just amazing..never liked fender to play on but sound fine except the fender fretless sound gutless to the mighty "jay" once again wish you many happy years together..sounds fantastic..

  • Good job. It's hard to follow mark king. It's like a drummer trying to play like Neil peart.

  • @rushrules1968 Not exactly.....Just for the record, Mark King was a drummer before he even started playing the bass and that's why he had a leg up on his bass playing style. Mark has said in countless interviews that his approach to playing bass is like drumming on the instrument.

  • super ! hammmmaa!!!

  • well done mate, more power to ya......

  • this song is soooo damn hard to play. good try tho. i cant believe how mark can sing and play so well this one. such an amazing bass player.

  • That's a kick-ass Jay Dee bass!

  • its all about puting your soul into it, bro

  • That was so cool. I love it. Well done!!

  • Nice job ;-)

  • look for some primus - tommy the cat live spring break 92, check out the bass solo

  • Love Claypool. We more performers like him. That's one reason I like Mark King...(it would be nice if he knew how to play that bass ya know)

  • I bet you get monumentally pissed off about people commenting on how mark K sings and plays amazing bass at the same time!! well i just appreciate your amazing style, talent and dedication and tribute to ur (obviously fave band) keep it up brother, well played!! 5 stars!

  • It's all good......just doing something I enjoy with no regrets.........Best Regards

  • well played....but he sings it at the same time..!

  • He sings and plays at same time?..........really? ....ya don't say now?

  • dont get out your pram mate, i wasnt having a go at you...lol...you play this fantastic.....well difficult...what i meant was how good is mark king coz he actually sings while playing this tricky shit...good vid...wish i was as skilled a bass player as yourself.. x

  • It can't get any better!!!

    GREEEEAAAAAAATTTT!!!!!

    5 STARS +

  • well done! That really is a though one to keep going for 4 minutes or so. Lovely looking bass too!

  • I can't imagine how Mark King keeps up the pace on 'Eyes Waterfalling'.........and singing at the same time! You talk about a challenge now...............The tempo is even faster on that song.

  • nice 1 m8

  • Thanks mate

  • But you've missed something!

Mark King play and sing at the same time in this song!!! ;)

  • Sorry mate...I'm not the crooner like Thunderthumbs.

  • hej, what about the end...

  • That's some A+ playing on a beautiful bass. Nice job!

  • Thank you my friend.

  • wow! if you could sing along...

  • Got to give you props for that amazing talent you have. Watched it three times! I used to play but injured the nerves in my hands from boxing. Not to much sensitivity in them now

  • Hello.., what tipe basses you used? Sorry for my langguage. Thank you. Oh.., btw nice playing. (^_^)

  • very nice well done

  • Man as far as I'm concerned I haven't seen or heard any mistakes!!! Your playing is unbelievable!!!

  • Many thanks kind sir.

  • such a lovely guitar,latter I will see rest of your vids,tnx...

  • Like it a lot !

Quite hard to stay in time because it's fast and you have no pause.

    Good job.

  • All those triple-pattern notes make this a busy tune on bass.

  • good job dude! no offense though but your technique sucks :/

  • How so?

  • Thanks for the first part of your comment...as for the second part.....it still sounded the same regardless of my technique. That's like telling a right-handed guitar player that he needs to play left-handed.

  • Wow Fantastic..... Great Job. I love it!!!!

  • I cannot do this or anything close. I am retarded this way.... :(

  • If you really want to play it.....then you can....I couldn't play anything at all on a bass 2 years ago. If your motivated enough, you can make it happen.....it may not happen overnight.....but if you want to play it bad enough...it can happen with lots of practice..that's the only way. Thanks for checking out the video.

  • hahaha

  • so cool, wish i can do this....:(

  • My advice.....if you really want to......you can....practice,practice,practice. Mark King has said that the best way to play something really fast is to learn it very slow first. And then build up your speed.

  • Pretty good - but how does Mark King do all this stuff AND sing?! Go figure! Gorgeous bass by the way..

  • Simple...He's nothing but pure talent who multi-tasks playing bass and singing together very well. Much like Geddy Lee of Rush. Now talk about a multi-tasker!

  • my fave L42 song. great job!

  • Thank you sir.

  • Thanks for the comment on my Wings of Love vid! You have a really really nice bass & tone.. and great playing by the way! Keep it up :)

  • thanks man ,,, by the way ,,, we all make mistakes ,,,,try to take your mind off it,,

  • Excellent! You are kinda cute as well. :)

  • Thank you......You're cute as well my Croatian cutie!

  • I this it's great.

I like that you chose the Prince's Trust performance with the quicker tempo than the studio version.

  • Well, that was fairly horrid typing.

    I THINK this is great!

regarding the Prince's Trust concert, it's my favorite recording of the song. I absolutely love the tempo. The original sounds slo-mo in comparison.

  • You're right......that's exactly why I chose it........because it has a faster tempo than the video. Good catch!

  • Seems like you might be fond of Mark King? :-)

    clark

  • Who me?....Never heard of him......[cough(bullshit)cough]

  • My friend that is BEAUTIFUL playing ..!! beautiful Jaydee too!!!

    Corrine :-)

  • Thank you...

  • Really enjoyed that. Thanks !

  • Nice

  • nicee!! ,. u ve got to teachm me ;:D

  • Jaydee's looking and sounding well , nice collection of basess you got on vid there , the rush song on guitar a real treat too !! top bloke

  • Thank you my friend.

  • yeah come on in this nik .......

  • Please forgive me but I haven't a clue as to what you said.

  • very well done

  • I love the bit about with mistakes every vis I have ever posted has em mate lol. By the way nice playing and nice bass.

  • very good!big slapping!and a nice cat;)

  • Mowac you play nice the bass and you technician is very nice too! thanks from Ecuador, the middle of the word. I like that song.

  • Many thanks to you and all Level 42 fans in Ecuador.

  • Thanks mate, It is so much easier to play now that I've had that long-awaited work performed on it. The neck needed to be leveled out as it had a high spot on the lower register around the 4th fret and I got it refretted after that. This bass plays a well as it probably did when John Diggins built it 21 years ago. It's listed in the serial numbers section on the Jaydee website.

  • its a really nice JD and looks still very good at its old age. nicely played aswell :)

  • Awesome bit of playing mate, well done, bass sounds fantastic too!

  • Thank you sir.

  • oye ese slap al final se alarga a 2/2

    atte:genezi

    salu2s

  • I don't read spanish so I hope that was a compliment.

  • Apparently it says.....

"slap hears that in the end is extended to 2/2 atte: genezi salu2s"

    Mmmmm, an interesting observation? WTF?

  • Well done mate, isn't an easy song to play.

  • I've seen your videos mate...None of the L42 songs you play on there are easy. My hats off to you sir. I thought this song was one of the easier L42 songs to play once you get the double-thumb thing down.

  • Oops there is a cat on the "stage" :)

    Well played mate

  • Thanks mate....The cat is my bass technician.

  • I do beleive that your playing along to the Princes trust concert where Sir George Martin commented that 42 were so damn good.

  • Yeah.....I like that version because the tempo is faster on that one and watching Mike Lindup do his frontman stage act is hillarious.

  • Nicely played again mate, love that jaydee sounds amazing.

  • Thanks mate.....It feels like a new bass since I had the fingerboard plained level again and refretted. Made a world of difference. I may make a short documentary video about the Jaydee explaining it's features and history. A lot of people have presented me with many questions about Jaydee since I own 2 of them.
