This is not infinite speed, but it is a similar effect graphically and possibly even related within terms of what goes on in the game engine, seeing how it behaves in a similar fashion - only appears when unmorphed, and screws up the HUD. However, it does not for example allow you to collect items through walls like IS did. True IS is not possible in Prime 3 - something they changed for the final sequel "fixed" it.
I wish the beams weren't stackable, and that the little hazard meter was there from the 2 prime games before this one (it was just awesome for some reason).
OK, after watching the whole thing, I'm guessing the transparent polygon that Samus' visor and other hud effects are displayed upon got "corrupted" (he he he) somehow. Pretty darn neat. I guess you discovered it because you were trying to see if you could get through that gap?

Capoland this is the IS glitch. If you look around on youtube will find uses for it
it is also present in metroid prime 1/2
also you do not need to reset the wii

It's an XFB copy error. Common with the Wii's GX, or graphics, library.
Can be fixed with a patch.

That weird glitch is pretty common in games. It's in Wii version of Okami, for example.

Wow! I was expecting some kind of weird geometry or something to show up. But this, this is like something I'd see in an art museum.

Oh good God, I thought I was the only one who knew about this. I accidentally did this glitch myself back when I used to play this.
