I ride a 4 stroke, because I do trail riding, and their engines generally last longer (depending how you ride ;D) My brother rides a 2 stroke, because he is mostly jumping. 2 strokes are better for events where you want speed, or a light-weight bike. 4 strokes are best for something where you need a tough bike. They are both great, it just depends how you want to ride

Neither of the bikes suck. It just depends on what you do. If you do FMX 2 strokes are better because they are lighter and easier to move around in the air. But if you race MX or something 4 stroke would probably be better. It just depends on what you like.

For the casual have fun balls out rider a 250 2 stroke is way sicker to ride. You know why the whole racing community went to 4 strokes, because they are lazy and want the power now instead of riding with more poise and technique. Back when Carmichael, TP, Mcgrath, Bubba, everyone was on 2 strokes the racing was so sick because people didnt have the option to puss.

its not only about the rider and how the bike rides what about all of the maintenance in the 4 stroke race bike you need to redo the piston and the rings every 15 hours or 6 races and your going to have to take the whole thing apart by that meaning a top half and redo that shit. but with the two strokes you only need to re place the piston/the rings every years so do the money math wqhich on is more money efficient

That is way off. If you wanted to be an asshole and replace your top end early you would do it at 30 hours and the bottom end every 3 to 5 years. 2-strokes are way cheaper over all.

You do a lot more maintenance on a 2 stroke, but you are always fixing little things so each little thing is cheaper. You do less maintenance on a 4 stroke but they are more reliable, but when you have to do work, you have to spend more. It evens out.
