This song was cool when I was a kid, all over the radio. This song has aged really well. Not too many songs these days that are this cool. I am lucky to have had this song growing up. Good time to be alive.
wow..long long ago when i was in my teens..listening to this song...sooo many memories of growing up ..one of ther best songs they made..thank you baby....
Man what a great song, so many memories and the band is the best with the brass, David has such a voice with loving raspinous. Keep putting these unique songs up. Thank you, Thank you Baby.
I was like -25 years old when this song came out, but i love Blood Sweat and Tears, beautiful music. And JESUS that guy can belt, and people say some of the people nowadays are good vocalists? horse shit
the only reason im listening to this great music is because somebody much older than me introduced me to it. whatever will happen to these golden introductions when baby boomers check out completely? i dont want it to happen.
Great song and great memories, years later (1981) I had great fortune to see DCT team up with Roberta Flack in a live concert in memory of John Lennon,
the band is of course KILLER! but i have to say even at that? the vocals make this one for me and i USUALLY don't go like that, but let's face it DCT is just so damned great you just can't ignore it.
60otaku3 Another one of your classic uploads! Thanks for sharing this song it really means so much to me. I dedicate it to my wife of 34 years. Every time I hear it makes me reflect on her,on us and all the memories of our life togheter...sweet and sour
@60otaku3 thanks for the upload Otakusan, and all your others... this song take me back to certain place in time, winter of 69.. I miss your videos of the southern Honshu but others have copied them on here... Domo Arigato
fabulous song--sensous, tuneful--and Mr. Thomas's searing yet intimate voice is one for the ages--that edge he puts on it is umistakably his. They don't make well crafted sincere songs like this anymore.
Where have all the singers gone with their rich deep authoratitive voices? (Jerry Fisher, Gary Puckett? I guess Celine Dion qualifies...) So many songs out there are just so...wimpy...
@goawayou1 Jerry Fisher was running a bar (and still singing) in Bay St. Louis, MS last I heard however Camile may have changed that. The Dock of the Bay was the name of the bar....I was there 89-92
This was a good time in history; I graduated high school in 1970 (Gainesville, Florida) former classmates include Tom Petty, Steve Stills, and Wayne Casey/KC and the Sunshine band.......yes, these were great times that we will never see again.
My music teacher in elementary school, Ms. Cooke loved this song!! She would play this song and would be swoonin!! I was in the 4th-5th grade at the time and it wasn't until I got older that I understood why she felt the way she did about this music. I absolutely love it!!
Great memories. I’m not going to bring up specific times because I don’t know any of you people and it wouldn’t make any difference to you anyway. But great memories.
This was one of our songs--my first love. It was '69, and anyone from that time period knows that rock 'n roll music was the backdrop of our lives. Though Steve and I broke up in '73, just 2 months ago he found me on facebook. As if time stood still, all those old feelings have been rushing over us. Life is grand, at any age!..."thank you baby, thank you baby"
Search for Beirut-Scenic World and Elephant Gun, among others. I think we still have good music these days. It's just the over advertised crap for the masses what makes this time look bad.
this song has brought back so many memories. This was "Our" song back in 69-70. Mark was in the military. He didn't tell me that he was coming home! Instead he called me when he got home playing this song! I should have hung on that one! I miss him! If it was only possible to turn back the ends of times.
@Sweetmelissa528 Well, I was 6 years old when this song came out. My Mom used to play it EVERY WEEKEND when she cleaned the house, Vacuuming, mopping the kitchen, & bathroom floors, YES this song takes me back!!! WOW the memories....
Im a 23 asian male and alot of my friends and new people i meet are surprised i love classic tunes like this. What can i say? To me these were the golden years of great music of all genres
David Clayton Thomas was the voice after Roy Orbison. I saw B,S&T's IN '68 when I was 13, and again at a trade show in '83, and his charisma had not diminished. Great post and all the others you post are as well.

@Nancytube2 Yes of course every Generation has it's UPS n DOWNS right but as far as Music .... Those were the days ... Compared 2 da crap we have now ... Lady GAGA Britney PlayBack Spears ??? LOL
@ivan01943 semmed being the main word. shit wasnt tht much better, everyone was high, probably ddnt know what stds were, black ppl were getting beat down and everyone was shitting there pants cos they though they were gon get nuked. if a guy had aids in the 60s they probably wouldnt have had a clue wat it was.
@PlymouthVT It's a generational thing. what our generation is now feeling, is what our parents went through back in the day.
Today we say: "Justin Bieber...Lady Gaga.. what is this????"
Back then, our parents said: "Look at these girls with the long hair. What are they called the Beatles...?"
A generation before that, Opera lovers probably said: "who's this kid from Jersey, Francis Albert whats-his-name? You call that singing? Listen to Enrico Caruso...now THAT is a singer!!"
@monsta64 I agree! Its always funny looking into what people thought of the music that was emerging. Jazz was the music of the devil, then became accepted as America's music. Rock N Roll was the music of the devil in the early 50's because of all the sexual references, then became embedded as "the good old days" of America. Hard Rock was even worse than Rock N Roll because everyone was on drugs. Rap was a stupid genre that was going to fizzle out.
@monsta64 Each gen thinks the next gen's music is the pathetic. Eventually becomes embedded in the culture. Although I do have to say each generation has less emphasis on actual musical ability. Jazz artists didn't even need music, they could play by ear. In the 60's and 70's there were certainly very talented musicians, but less on skill overall. Today they don't even need to be able to sing thanks to auto tune. Next gen will probably people just stand around while music plays in the back
@BioPhreak We've already reached that point. Turn on a drum machine and recite some semi-illiterate rhymes along with it and you have rap. No talent required, just the ability to speak and write fourth-grade level poems.
Respond to this video...Thanks in part to the pursuit of capitalistic ideals in music, greed has robbed music of its very soul. Purpose & meaning has been replaced by how many units are we selling? That was the case in the past as well, but the industry as a whole was @ lest more exploratory, & less processed. Now its all about nursery rhyming & false bravado.
@vgraham44 Could n´t have put it better myself. There is only one word for music in the year 2011,cr+p.All backing by computers, listen to BS+T on this disc they were all great musicians. Now all the female singers do is a striptease showing of their silicon assets, it is all marketing, the start of the rot was a group called the Spice Girls, there was only one who could sing . Apparently the so called "Posh" spice mimed the hymns at the Royal Wedding , old habits die hard I suppose.
@PlymouthVT Youth will always have it's own music. But I'm with you on the fact that OUR generation had the best of everything. The talent spectrum was SO broad! BS&T's and all the bands you mentioned were from a time when MUSIC mattered! Before wanna-be record company clowns in suits told people "what's good" and made music into a talent-less vortex!
I wish there were more people like Ahmet Ertegun who created Atlantic records. That man was a genius may he rest in peace!
@PlymouthVT I just can say to listen the ones who are not in mainstream, and oh boy, you can find the best music you can hear in the world! for example: The Horrors!
@PlymouthVT the 90s dropped the ball....if u go back and look at the top songs in the 90s u can see where it all turned to crap....they just didnt listen to their forbears and its kept going down hill since....lucky we have places like utube to find all these great tunes from the past..
@mustwinder Laura Nyro actually wrote the song "And When I Die" so when she does the song, it's not a cover. (laff) Another not-so-well-known fact: Laura Nyro almost became BS&T's lead singer after Kooper left. Interesting facts I got from my friend Koop.... No, not Al Kooper... another Koop. Heh heh. This song was written by Brenda Holloway, her sister Patrice, Berry Gordy (yes, THAT BG) and, uh oh... forgot the last author....yeesh. Sorry. Originally recorded by Brenda. Cheers!

What a great time it was to be a teenager and a musician. 1968-70.
You had Deep Purple,Chicago,Yes,The Allman Bro's,The Doobies,Poco,BS&T,
Santana,The Who,Beatles......on and on coming out of the radio..
Compare today to the utter crap that goes for music now. WTF happened?
Thanks for the post. Brought back very good memories.

Next gen will probably people just stand around while music plays in the back
BioPhreak 11 months ago
@BioPhreak We've already reached that point. Turn on a drum machine and recite some semi-illiterate rhymes along with it and you have rap. No talent required, just the ability to speak and write fourth-grade level poems.

@tdelamont 150% correct.

Now its all about nursery rhyming & false bravado.
vgraham44 10 months ago

Cheers!

@mustwinder Haven't checked on who wrote it, but another cover of it was done by Laura Nyro, a great vocalist from the same timeframe. Enjoy.
