I actually found it hard to accept Alan Rickman as Brandon. Not in a bad way though. I read the novel long before I saw any adaptation, and Brandon is described as an honourable, and kind, and loving person. I'm so used to him as Sheriff of Nottingham ("Because it's dull, you twit, it will hurt more..!!"), that I can't see him as anyone else.
