Well, Melodia of Melodia Designs was selling bell-bottomed bellydance pants when the BDSS came through Pittsburgh in 2004 and they've been considered standard tribal fusion dance costuming ever since.

Well, personally I think they look tacky. I guess I'm just old-fashioned.
I like bell-bottoms for street clothes, but they just don't look right as part of a belly dance costume. Like Corvettes and Mustangs don't look like Corvettes and Mustangs to me anymore...
