The Problem with all the kickflip how to's is they try to make the beginner learn them with foot placements that make them go really high. To first learn them is to best put your foot near the bolts and work your way to the left as you learn them

my kickflips i put my foot as far back as u do like you said for people learning it but when i pop it and flip it my board pops up almost verticle and i just bail because i'd just spear myself if i put my foot down, i think the only way to fix this is to slide ur foot farther up so it doesn't pop so high? but when i do that the board doesn't even rotate anymore, any ideas for help??

When people try to teach me to kickflip, they tell beginners to try to kick down on the side (AKA mobbing) to flip the board, and after a few of that, try to umm pop your backfoot and move it anywhere you want it to and let your front foot flick the corner, thats how some videos teach me. Try that :P
