The Mormon Crutch is indeed highly, highly organized: this enhances the "cult effect": not the other way around, as you have suggested. The LDS Chruch is, in fact, a "corporation of one": viz, "The Corporation of the President", with an efficient, communist-like system, with a tightly-wound hierarchy (think of a tightly-wound-up clock, here). Looking at the LDS-Church government, you see that it functions like the militry, or like a typical pre-1964 U.S. corporation.
@RhodesWC You have just done what a typical active Mormon does: you just "re-defined" the word "cult", to suit your own ideas.
60 years ago, in my neighborhood, in "middle America", the word "cult" was associated with "personalities" that had, as it were, a "cult following": they were "cults of personality".
Just as the late Jim Jones had a "cult following", so does the current president of the mormon church (as did the original "president" of the mormon cult of personality: Joseph Smith).
LOL, Historians trace the earliest Baptist church back to 1609 in Amsterdam, with English Separatist John Smyth as its pastor. HOW IS THIS ANCIENT HISTORICAL CHRISTIANITY!?!?!!? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints practices ancient Christianity that was practice by the earliest Christian Fathers in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD!!! The LDS church has Priests, Bishops, Apostles, and a Profit - in other words the true organization of ancient Christianity!!
All these thousands of EX-mormons who have excaped Mormonism and formed numerous revovery groups are all evil and bigots? - how about all the thousands of women who have been abused by Mormon idology - I will never vote for a person who belives he is going to become a God - Mormonism is a cult
i dont believe the pastor knows the term cult. "cults were small religious groups lacking in organization, often thought to lead to a high degree of tension between the group and the more mainstream culture surrounding it." in all cases the mormons do not qualify. they are not small, and are very organized. and if they are 'not christian' why would he include them in the mainstream. perhaps he should do some research first?
@RhodesWC -- As late as 2005 & 2006, Romney made jokes like this? "I believe marriage should be between a man and a woman … and a woman … and a woman," Romney quipped at the 2005 St. Patrick's Day breakfast in Boston. He made the same joke on Don Imus' 2006 St. Patrick's Day show. Romney's family tree has lots of polygamy. and his father was born in Mexico. He's currently trying to convince the Tea Party he's a good Christian who will reduce the debt.
Nauseating that religion keeps rearing it's ugly face in politics. I wouldn't vote for a man who thinks God lives on planet Kolob or who has to wear strange underwear. I wouldn't vote for Perry either if he thinks that having a prayer meeting and a fasting will help the economy. Is it possible to find a candidate who isn't crazy? Your religion should be like your anus; I don't want to see it, hear it, smell it, touch it or taste it. It's your's. Have fun but don't run for public office.
Pay attention...Christianity started out as a cult. A cult is by definition a group of individuals who exhibit a strong belief system that is contrary to the accepted or dominant social norm. Jesus and his Disciples started out under these circumstances, and were a persecuted minority because Jesus' teachings conflicted with the Jewish religious structure that was dominant at the time. The threat Jesus posed to the reigning power structure is what led to his arrest, trial and crucifixion.

wow so im not a evangelical mr. jeffress.. so does that make me apart of a cult???... i believe in God etc.. next time think before you TALK idiot!!... epic religion FAIL right there!!
@adore2B -- ROMNEY'S 2012 PLAN CUTS MEDICARE--Ron Paul’s plan cuts $1 trillion the first year and balances the budget in 3 years. The plan cuts by ending the costly unconstitutional foreign wars, and cuts foreign welfare, corporate welfare, and overgrown federal bureaucracy. These cuts doe not affect those who are dependent on domestic spending programs such as Medicare. Romney’s plan cuts Medicare, on which many elderly Americans rely.
So just what makes Mr. Robert Jeffress think that he has any right to “own” or define the term Christian, or to deny the term to others who worship Jesus as the divine Son of God?
Jeffress and other paid pastors of his kind (including those who belong to the Southern Baptist Convention that Jeffress mentions in his recent interviews) make a ridiculous argument when creating their own man-made definition under which a term such as “Christian” means “only those who believe as I do.”
Hey Jeffress. Your hypoctical and ignorant mindset that your "Christain" faith wasn't founded by man is a flaw that is glaringly obvious. Take a look back at history and study the council of Nicene, not one of their rules of Christianity was voted on by Christ himself. Civic and church officials of that council declared every concept that you say makes someone christian. Sounds like you're only Christian because a group of misguided Men said so.
FYI People call us Mormon's because we have a book that is call The Book of Mormon (because Mormon was the name of the person that got together all the information on it). We belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That is the name of the church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, so yes, we are Christians.
@chayotitoreed Mormonism is not a denomination of Christianity. Jesus came to North America? Did the son of God just realize there was a new world? LMAO Dude why didn't he stop slavery and the genecide of natives? How many wives do you have? Do you get to rule a planet when you die? I heard minorities get asteroids instead of planets. If I join I want a comet. I like to travel! LMAO It is not the book of Mormon! It is the Book of the Morons!
