Nah, look harder with an open mind. After seeing these pics of Henry Cavill i can see why he got the nod for superman. I was sketical at first but now i see some close up pics in the suit and now i'm pretty convinced this will be a good look when the movie finally drops. No Brando Routh or no damn Tom Welling. They would've fucked it up even though for 2006 Routh was okay as superman(not today though).

I like Henry Cavill in the part -- physically he looks perfect, like the DC Superman I grew up with in the 70s - 80s. I can even look past the the missing red shorts! What I dislike are the muted colors -- the smokey gray-blue, the pinkish S, the dirty yellow shield. Superman needs to be brightly colored in bold blue and brilliant red! (At least they got the cape right!)

Can Superman ever be too hot?!!! OMG! You can't compare because its 2 different movies, 2 different actors 2 different story lines. Brandon's suit kept with the tradition of our classic Superman. Henry's suit depicts his 'Man of Steel' persona. When looking at Returns' suit, you instinctively know and scream Superman. When looking at Man of Steel's suit, you say break me off a piece of that(only coming from a feminine point of interest). I instantly thought Batman with an S on his chest.

I loved all the Superman movies, even Superman Returns (although I agree it wasn't too good but made me love him more), but I'm excited to see a modernized, more human perspective on Superman. He was always my fave superhero. Plus...the muscles they all had, from one superman movie to the next...damn. (;

Stupid costume design... Superman does not need body armour. His costume should not have wing engravings on it. Why on earth, if you are getting rid of both belt and trunks [they're not underwear idiots - the design motif was based on circus strongman trunks from bygone days] -- why do they still have a buckle, glued? to the from of his costume [that is just weird].
This is the suit Superman now wears. His suit doesn't have the red trunks anymore. Check out the comic book..........no trunks so that's why his suit in the upcoming movie has no trunks.
I love the Superman theme that you used for the video, but I think that if the producers of this new Superman movie want people to stop comparing all the new actors and films to the ones made with Christopher Reeve, they should stop using this theme in the new films. That would be a way to tell audiences, "look forget about everything you saw in the previous movies, this is what we have to offer you, just enjoy it..." As for Cavill, I will not judge him as a Superman actor until I see the film.

Brandon was a great superman or could have been with a good script and story.
It was a stupid storyline that killed the last film. Bad story writers to blame NOT Brandon, he did a great job.

I hate this shit, for one Superman shouldn't be more modern, and realistic, that defeats the whole purpose of the myth, Batman I understand, and in this real world, someone with time and money could actually do that, a realistic Superman please now they are stretching, I really wouldn't mind a different Superman if they did a different villain and not wear out the classic Lex and Zod scenario, how many times can we watch the origin story of Superman and not get bored? At least make newvillains

then again we have to remember everything modernizes and while having a bright blue suited superman in red underwear is classic it would also look kind of ridiculous following today's superhero appearance standards just look back at the original comics and how batman and superman looked and how differently the new movies have made them appear.

Otherwise, I'm digging the new look so far. There's a desire in Hollywood to make colorful superheroes darker (because if a beacon of hope like Superman needs anything, it's visual darkness... *lol*), so if it MUST be done, make the blue darker while keeping everything else nice and bright. The cyan mixed with dark crimson on Brandon Routh was just... odd.

AGAIN they miss the mark before a single frame is shot. SUPERMAN's appearance in almost every DC comic indicates he is simply "bigger" than your average Joe, thus why they can't seem to find a 6'5" "stud," & turn him loose in front of a GreenScreen is beyond me. We should NOT be seeing "Kal El" looking up at taller actors & other than a Darkseid or (fill in YOUR favorite large alien villian) he's invariably the "biggest man" in the room. Costume? Stupid costume design... Superman does not need body armour. His costume should not have wing engravings on it. Why on earth, if you are getting rid of both belt and trunks [they're not underwear idiots - the design motif was based on circus strongman trunks from bygone days] -- why do they still have a buckle, glued? to the from of his costume [that is just weird].

I love the Superman theme that you used for the video, but I think that if the producers of this new Superman movie want people to stop comparing all the new actors and films to the ones made with Christopher Reeve, they should stop using this theme in the new films. That would be a way to tell audiences, "look forget about everything you saw in the previous movies, this is what we have to offer you, just enjoy it..." As for Cavill, I will not judge him as a Superman actor until I see the film.

Oh God no, this new suit looks like body armour, and if there is one hero in the universe who doesn't need armour, it is Superman. They really should not try to reinvent anything about Supes, he is too iconic, the problem with the last film was the writing and direction not Superman. Nobody can take the place of Christopher Reeve ...he fit the part perfectly with his innocense look and his sense of humor....Sorry not meaning to put down anyone...But knowing in my heart...They are going to have a hard time replacing Christopher Reeve for the new Superman Character....as for right now, can not think of any that can do just as well or even better. @chicoboi500 Yeah that's what made the last movie so bad. They went out and hired a guy just becasue he kinda looked like the other guy then basically ripped off the first couple of movies totally. That's not the way to do it. The way to do it is to clean the slate and start fresh like they're doing now. This isn't the 70's and early 80's anymore and no matter how good the movies were they ARE dated now and it's time to move forward. Reeve wasn't the first nor the last.

Perhaps the reason for the change was homophobia (not sure where you get that from though), but at least if that's true it will have an opposite effect. I like the suit, but then again, I always hated the briefs, there was no point to wearing underwear on the outside so I never cared for them. Plus I heard this is supposed to be a darker look at superman, the comical bright red briefs would take away from that.
