  • Well, i know for one thing that i'd rather spit on Marois than on a fellow Canadian. Although, Harper's making that obvious choice a little harder these days ... Oh well.

  • I am a Canadian, maple leaf forever is my anthem and THE RED ENSIGN IS MY FLAG! GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

  • Nice song, but to hell with the monarchy. It's time we buried that pitiful relic and created a natural Canadian entity to replace it.

  • why USA have nigger,Canada have french man ? because USA has first choice

  • @patrickwoo1990 Fantastic grammar! Go back to the trailer park.

  • wtf this isnt porn ..

  • Thumbs if u are from ACS and find this song similar to our anthem :P

  • We need a Royalist Party of Canada to get us back on track with the Queen and to stop foreigners from making people paranoid. I live in Ottawa and people don't n talk to their neighbours, probably because they are all Indian taxi drivers...

  • @GrrrIamMad I agree with ya.

  • Yes, God save the Queen. May we regain the Crown of England for Canada before we all go to hell. Britain and Canada fighting together again for the Godly old ways.

  • god save the queen!

  • I always ask myself why this isn't our anthem I love it a lot but I guess its a bit long and repetitive

  • @fireflyergirl Because it's basically about the British army conquering Quebec.

I think it's a better tune than O Canada, but we needed something more inclusive.

  • @jarvy251

    This version is better

    /watch?v=d45zJSHHwS8

  • @fireflyergirl It was changed because the french quebec bunch didnt like it, now you are stuck with the terrible anthem you have now. If you are not impressed by the maple leaf forever listen to the bagpipe version, you could have had that as a anthem if it wasnt for the dity french surrender monkeys, keep going canada, love from a Brit.

  • @soulofthenorth -tis grand love it!!

  • This is good, but I for one like "O Canada" significantly more. Admittedly, we could have a better anthem... I certainly would not choose this for it though.

I thoroughly disagree with the French bashing going on here. I respect the Canadian French for their choices and identity. I do not necessarily agree they are a separate national group and I thoroughly disagree with separatism, but I'll be damned if I insult other Canadians because of the language they speak or the place they were born.

  • @TheLastCanadian Its a shame the French-Canadians dont think the same about English speaking Canadians...

  • @soulofthenorth You dont know what your talking about. I am a french canadian and I can tell you at least 75% of the french population is against seperation and have no hate against our english countrymen, the problem is that being an overwhelming minority, people usually hate the french in this country and blame them for pretty much anything. You come to my town where the population is 95% french and youll be treated with respect.I love my country and so do most of the french

  • @FacePlan That's the way it ought to be. I don't care what people say, I'm a firm believer in Canada :D

I'm taking French for that very reason.... though at the moment I suck at it xD

J'aprende francais. Anyhow, tidings from Alberta.

  • @FacePlan Not the French hating though, hahaha. Sorry if that caused confusion. Part of the problem is Canadian anglophones marginalizing the French because of some stupid misconception that the French want nothing more than to spit on us.

I figure if people embraced the idea rather than devolving into language politics, Canada might get a lot farther, eh?

  • dear youtube ads. WHen i'm listening to an epic song that's equivilent to canada's second national anthem I don't want to see an ad for green day, the epitemy of bad music.

  • Long live James Wolfe!

  • this is much better than oh canada

  • @horuz58 No, I like O Canada alot better, this is an imperialist anthem from a very immoral chapter in Britain's history that they're not all that proud of. It specifically outlines an ethnic nationalism, singing of Canada as a British country while never mentioning it's (then) French majority except in the context of subjugation and it ignores the Natives. It arose for a reason then, but O Canada is an anthem I can identify with, it's the anthem of a nation that includes and values me in it.

  • @Mehtaphorical Fuck the French and the indians. Rule Britannia!

  • Well even if the lily was added, the song would still be horribly orangist. Straight form the start, taking a barn-burner who bombed Quebec for three months to the rank of «dauntless hero of Canada» is an insult to my people. Wolfe's conquest is not a foundation act, but a destruction one. Concerning the Quebec Act, you know that it was mainly to buy the French and keep them away from the American Revolution that was coming, not a free humanist act. Just look the 1763 and 1840 acts...

  • @fleurdelys1241

How come Quebecers like you are always playing the victim game? You don't see the Southern Americans whine and moan about losing the Civil War. In fact, they embrace their heritage! Every year, thousands of Confederate war re-enactors in the US take part in battles and displays. They do it because they aren't afraid to admit they fought bravely but ultimately lost. That would never happen in Canada, because too many Quebecers like you want to stay victims.

  • @cashcleaner You're right about the Southerners, but I'm surely not afraid to admit we fought bravely though we ultimately lost. But if a popular american Anthem began with «Grant the auntless hero came and planted fim Unions's flag on Richmond's fair domain, maybe Southerners would not appreciate. God save Lincoln would not do better. It's hard to get over it when our governement becomes more monarchist than the monarchy itself. It only devides Canada more, and they know it.

  • @fleurdelys1241

That's actually a pretty fair answer. Nice. :)

  • @fleurdelys1241 SALES ROSTBIFS, VOUS AVEZ SACCAGÉ L'INDE MAIS VOUS NE DÉTRUIREZ PAS MON PAYS...JE LE JURE !!!

  • (cough) Excuse me, I have something to say.

If you have come here just to insult Canada, incite dissent or complain about the monarchy, push off, you bastard. Don't comment if you don't want to be hated. But this is YouTube, and there will always be a troll.

  • It's strange that at the same time Anglo-canadians glorify and like this song, which is explicitly racist against the French, and at the same time invent humanist purpuses the the Conquest and pretend to like us. Then they call racist bastards Quebecers who notify that paradox. The French Revolution did not burn half French villages to ashes like Wolfe did in New-France. It's easy in 2011 to say that the English «saved us» form a revolution that was not predictable at the time.

  • @fleurdelys1241 In 2011 we have the benefit of historical hindsight. Unfortunately, it was war, and the British did burn crops, but Quebec did not suffer under British rule. In fact, British favouritism towards Quebec in the Quebec Act contributed considerably to the American Revolution.

  • @fleurdelys1241 This song is also not explicitly 'racist'. The author, Alexander Muir, wanted to include the 'lily' as a reference to the fleur-de-lys, but was opposed by French-speaking Lower Canadians.

Still, I'm sick of ignorant English Canadians attacking Quebec. This is YouTube, though, and the idiot speaks loudest.

  • @Gustaveleloup I only attack the Quebec government, and the hardcore separatists. I'm from Newfoundland, and We're all still sour from Quebec claiming Labrador as it's own and exploiting our natural resources without any discussion with us.

  • Comment removed

  • @Gustaveleloup Quebec is a piece of crap as it divide us. We can be french speaking and pround canadian. I lived all my life in quebec and really, I had full of the victimisation non-sens. Lets all unite to achieve our goal: The colonisation of the north, and real Canadian independance: How can we resist the american if we are at each other's throat! Ouer queen should be symbol of the cooperation that brought this country to life. For queen and country!

  • @cripto136 Labrador should not be a territory. The Inuit have Nunaviasut, which is essentially a co-equal Territory within a Province, which lies from Nain to Sheshatshiu(and should encompass the Northern Quebec Coast). The main reason Labrador can not and will never be a territory is because since the majority live the same way and claim themselves to be Newfoundlanders first, Canadians second, they would doggedly attack MP Penashue(already a traitor by NL standards) for allowing it.

  • @TheRimDoctor Well, I dont like separatists, may they be Quebecers, newfoundlanders or Albertain. We are one country and we need nm division. Dont let harper's policy divide to rule!

  • @cripto136 Separatists in Newfoundland have a valid point in separation, however, given the fact that our referendums in 1948 to join confederation were biased by Joey Smallwood giving free bottles of liquor to anyone who votes confederation. But anywho, Harper is a nut. Fun fact, he is undermining our senior support system. Right now when a female spouse dies for an elderly man, they lose the wifes pension, their drug cards and are forced to live under the poverty line to save money.

  • Plains of Abraham Sept13/1759 should rap that up! And any other comment from anyone doubts our history they can get on the boat and go back to their motherland.

  • Then you can go straight back to the U.S. my dear loyalist, I will stay in my motherland. I have no doubts that your vision of history makes Quebecers foreigners in this country. The truth however is quite the opposite.

  • Shame you still don't have the flag at 1:56. Nevertheless I was proud to sing along. Respect from a young Briton.

  • Wish someone would translate the french posts to see how bad Quebec is slagging the rest of Canada... again...

  • It's called Google translate. It's not always accurate, but it's what's available for free.

  • @Glaxist Some francophone type was saying that the Quebecers were enslaved. Not exactly spot on, is he? The British allowed the French Canadians to maintain their language, religion, culture, civil law and ultimately freedom. The British Conquest actually saved Quebec from Francce's implosion and Revolution. They could've turned out like Haiti.

It must be remembered that not all French Canadians or Quebecois are seppies. They are Canadian too and I am proud to say that.

  • It actually skips the second verse.

  • God save the Queen happy remembrance day

  • Beautiful music, God bless Canada and long live the Queen!

  • Fantastic!

  • God save the Queen and long live the Commonwealth.

    And wherein lies the hypocrisy?

  • @ignorantpom

  • @yvonkcaouette

I'm sorry but babel translator can only go so far. I have no Idea what Albert Einstein has to do with the Queen, the British Commonwealth or 'the Maple Leaf Forever'.

    Good day, sir.

  • @ignorantpom

Yes but ze sir, he love you mec !!!

  • written by a scottish guy who hated irish fuck scotland and canada

  • @Patrickf1916 love your comment! gives everyone another reason to ridicule you irish!

  • Long may Canada be loyal to the queen and long shall Canadian soldiers be cannon fodder for the great British Cause!

  • @wank0r I think you mean American Cause.

  • Written by a good Scottish Protestant

  • I don't know why we have to have O Canada. The Queen is our Sovereign.

    God Save the Queen.

  • @LivesForJihad we should get rid of you

  • @greenapplefever I second that.

  • @LivesForJihad Guy, I agree with you. Partially. The Monarchy is just there as a figure head so I don't see any reason to get rid of them though. Also, why is your name LivesForJihad? Do you want a Jihad?

  • @coessen I have this name as a joke...it is mostly satire against radical Islam. I hate Jihads...

  • @LivesForJihad Oh, okay. Good to know.

  • @LivesForJihad Did you do it to troll? I don't understand the concept of trolling or what the fuck delusions of grandeur goes through the minds of people who troll for fun. At least YOU got the name, and not someone who actually believes in that shit.

You know you're from Canada when you're apathetic to just about every extreme political ideal around. Pretty much the only thing that keeps us from assimilating with the Americans, who take things far too seriously.

  • @TheRimDoctor It's not trolling...thats too harsh of a term. Trolling is being a dick for no apparent reason.

I would say my motivations are more for satire/freedom reasons. I dunno how much you follow the news, but Muslims REALLY hate it when anyone depicts ANYTHING concerning Islam in a statical light. I picked this name to stick it to the radicals to simply tell them..."I will draw what I like, say what I like, and take whatever name I want because freedom tells me I can."

  • @LivesForJihad I am usually on top of the news 24/9. Anywho, I'm not sure where you're from, but as a Newfoundlander, I grew up to be as kind as possible to everyone. I don't like doing anything that would anger someone because when you grow up in an outport, there's no point in making someone angry. If you're in Toronto, you can piss them off all you want and never see them again. If you're on an island in a town with 200 people and the only connection is the ferry...

  • @LivesForJihad ..you become very apathetic to the stuff going on in the rest of the world. We all know what's happening, but we just don't care. Would explain why our Conservative party is farther left than our Liberals and are one of the most rational provinces in the country. We would rather sit down with a cup of tea and a pack of smokes than go into the Health craze the rest of the continent has been running since the late 90s. Anywho its the internet. Piss the bastards off if you so desire.

  • I can play this on clarinet it's REALLY easy.

  • glad to know my school anthem was adapted from a song singing about a maple leaf.

  • when was this song written? Cape Race is on Newfounland which was not part of Canada until 1949.

  • @SantaFe19484 This was written in 1867. I guess Alexander Muir was just referring to all of British North America as Canada.

  • listening to this anthem is the closest i ever get to feeling like i knew my paternal grandfather. he fought in WWII, and would be over 110 if he was alive today.

    god bless you, harold.

  • Honestly, I think this should be out national anthem. Much more patriotic than O Canada.

  • @Canadian737 *our

  • That Ensign was never the official flag of Canada

  • Honestly...wth with all the anti-muslim crap?

They are people too you know. Would you like being treated like that?

  • Sounds alot like the Australian anthem

  • @Lazonya777 In what world?

  • Correction. In 1867, the United Kingdom was a parliamentary union of England, Scotland, Wales, & Ireland. Irish Home Rule became an issue in the late 19th century. The divide between Northern Ireland & the Republic was a much later development again.

Back on topic, I sometimes wonder what Canada would have been like had we gone the route of legislative union instead of a federal system. Our history of federal-provincial spats and regional identities would have played out differently.

  • @MrZadokthePriest With all due respect to our friend @hecdc from Ontario, the provincial governments are the only thing that have kept some of the provinces from being raped by Ontario and Quebec. Example: Trudeau's National Energy Program: The "Blue-Eyed Shiek", Premier Lougheed shut him down and is a Western hero for protecting regional interests when Trudeau's goal was only to ensure cheap oil for the East... "Let the Eastern Bastards Freeze in the Dark" was a popular statement back then.

  • @Glaxist Please don't get me wrong. Federalism is not altogether a bad thing. It is what it is.

Parliamentary union was seriously proposed at the time the provinces were negotiating union. Had Canada gone that route in 1867 the country's history would have been radically different. The presence of provinces and strong provincial capitals, including Toronto, has skewed developments. Perhaps for the better. Perhaps for the worse. Who knows?

  • @NateC0le Bravo.

  • A lot of men died in one of the finest small armies in the world thinking that the Red Ensign was their flag.

  • This is better than the current one.

  • I'm glad to see no french comments on this great song!! It's important the world knows english is Canada's official language and french is the political tool used by a single Province to try to rape the rest of us. >:) How's that for a troll??

  • @Glaxist the frenchies can stay in qubec its the cali of canada any way

  • @camerl2009 Go die. Quebec is the gem of Canada.

  • @Glaxist Fuck you. Everyone should be forced to know both English and French you dumb tool.

  • @MajBlood we already are, hence the resentment toward the very small minority of french in Canada. Like latin, french is a dying and irrelevant language... thank God. Please, separate and do the rest of Canada a favour.

  • @Glaxist I am a French Canadian, born and raised in Montreal, but I am no separatist.

We are just as important to Canada's history and heritage than you are.

It's insulting to be discarded with the words you have spoken.

It's unfortunate how the rest of Canada is ignorant enough to believe we're all fucking separatists.

I'm french Canadian, but I was not raised to speak french. Don't put down my people because we had shit politicians in the past. Okay?

    OI

  • @Glaxist The true enemy are the godamn foreigners who aren't of British or French descent. They aren't Canadian. Contrary to popular belief, our culture are Mounties, Maple Syrup, the Frontier, and the Queen of England. These muslims, asians, and in general, foreigners are destroying our nation.

  • @Glaxist please don't be like that, our country is great because of French and English Canada co-existing together. Do you know the maple leaf is originally a french canadian one? Did you know that our current national anthem was written by a french canadian many years back?

May God keep the True North, Strong and Free.

  • @hecdc No, our country is great in spite of french and english. Have a walk through a federal government office some day... competence does not matter, french language skill does. You Quebecers love status quo because it's such a huge advantage for you. No apology from me for stating plainly that the emperor has no clothes, and french in Canada is costing us efficiency, billions of wasted tax dollars annually, and is brutally divisive. Quit threatening to leave: as Nike says, Just do it!

  • @Glaxist I am not a Quebecer, I'm born, raised in Ontario, the mother province of this great country.

You make a good point about efficiency and money wasting, thats why I also think it is ridiculous that we have 11 governments alongside the national one.

lets abolish the darned provinces and have one national government, one flag, one charter, one anthem, but two languages :) God bless.

  • @hecdc Now why'd you have to go and be polite? I can't get wound up and argue with you when you're nice.

  • @Glaxist because we are both Canadians concerned about our country, each in his own way.

  • @hecdc Incidentally, that was what Sir John A. Macdonald, the first prime minister of the Dominion of Canada, proposed during the Confederation Debates of the early 1860s. He favoured legislative union over federalism after viewing the disaster unfolding south of the border in the American Civil War. His model was the United Kingdom with its common parliament of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

He compromised so as to get a deal: better to have a half loaf than no loaf.

  • @MrZadokthePriest I honestly think its high time we amend the darned constitution and have one national government, the provinces divide Canadians in a horrid manner..

  • @hecdc The decks are too stacked for Eastern Canada... it would never be acceptable as the West, the North and Atlantic Canada would be immediately forgotten in the rush to pillage their resources. Even as it is, there is mounting disparity and hard feelings. How is it gas is cheaper in Ottawa than in Calgary? I guess it's all the oil in Southern Ontario...

  • @Glaxist I completely agree with you, western alienation has been a long time coming and Alberta was once turned into a trough for pigs in Ottawa and Toronto, my native city.

But instead of threatening with secession to destroy this great country, our brethern in Alberta must have the courage to stand up for their rights without calling for Quebec to leave or for the West to secede.

because i firmly believe a stronger West is a stronger Canada :)

  • @Glaxist Nous?

  • Sing A-C-S Forevermore

    Our A-C-S Forever

God save our land and Heaven bless

    Our A-C-S Forever

  • I know the tree well that he used for the inspiration. All to naught if the politicians do not back our troops, our history, and our peoples. britishpeoplesleague

  • I see that Canada had different flags in each of the world wars.

  • Return the Red Ensign! Britain needs Canada more then ever!!

  • ACS says hi

  • Everyone knows this is the true Canadian song.

I now officially denounce the official recognition of O Canada as a measure to please Quebecers.

  • Shouldn't someone choose this as anthem?!

  • I hate "O Canada" This anthem is a lot better. Even better yet, we should have "God Save The Queen".

  • @SpencerM1A1 GTFOSVP!

Look we're a great country and this is a great song, but it pains me to come to this page and see a bunch of stuck up imperialists hating on the french and other races. I honestly thought that it was just the Americans who did this. but clearly you guys proved me wrong. Please go back to Britain or better yet, go to the USA and join in their gigantic patriotism.

  • @NintendoSpoofer most Brits aren't imperialistic either. To be honest, a lot of us are so ignorant we don't even know what the British Empire is/was, so plenty of us wouldn't have a clue what all this is about. Mind you, it's not really their fault, it's the politicians.

  • @robsargent4 I don't blame the british. I like the british. I'm sorry, my comment came out wrong, I just meant that if they truly are so convinced that we should be like an unborn fetus of Mother Britain, then they shouldn't be here.

I don't mind our connections to the British Empire. We ARE still part of the common wealth, but we don't limit ourselves to JUST the queen. We are a nation of many colors, so get used to it ( @SpencerM1A1 ... Yes I mean you!).

  • I don't think anybody is implying that we be an "unborn fetus" of the British Empire, anymore than we are an "unborn fetus" of our parents by keeping our surname and family traditions. The fact of the matter is that we ARE children of the British Empire just as much as modern day Brits, Aussies, Jamaicans etc... and acknowledging and promoting this part of our heritage only promotes our national identity. Canadians of any "colour" are as much subjects of Her Majesty as English Canadians!

  • @NintendoSpoofer Don't mind if I talk about my own country (Canada) do you? I am allowed to comment on the anthem, I am allowed to like the classic "God Save the Queen". My apologies for being loyal to my Queen.

  • Comment removed

  • @NintendoSpoofer then tell Quebec to quit trying to fuck over the rest of Canada while isolating themselves more and more. They are trying to force a dying culture and language on the real world... hello... Latin all over again. French is redundant in Canada and more and more in the world.

  • @SpencerM1A1 Haha you have to be kidding

  • @SpencerM1A1 fuck that we are no longer under british rule we should forget about brit's and the queen

  • @camerl2009 Please, if you live in Canada- do yourself and us a favor, and throw yourself under a bus you republican bullshit eating fag.

  • @Purplecatsoup30 im a conservative for one and im glad we are no longer under british rule

  • @camerl2009 you can't even spell, let alone handle grammar correctly. go away and finish grade 8 then come back and talk to the grownups. if you have graduated highschool, it must have been in quebec.
