  • My dad had one of these in the early 1960's. It was a 1935 model, in jet black with dark green interior. It was in really good shape. The crankshaft in these engines was supported by two main bearings, if memory serves me right! It's been years since I've seen an Austin 7 side-valve 4 engine.

  • oh my god such a buitiful car but he did have a bit of trouble backing up!

  • @jasonstretch

    Thanks!

Yes but I was terrified about the engine shredding to pieces. :) It has been dismantled again and runs alot smoother now.

The other car, the little green Special has been thrashed a bit harder. ;)

Naa jokeing too good for that

  • Hmm may not be the main bearings may be something like the flywheel being lose? The rhythm seems wrong for bearings... Thanks for shearing and good luck with her!

  • Thanks for the comment,

I have just stripped the engine down and the rear main was loose on the crank. Hopefully it will be solved with some strong loctite bearing. Otherwise I'll need a better shaft. :( The rear main was pretty bad aswell so we're fitting a NOS bearing in the process.

  • I am bu ying one of those hopefully
