Hey, wonderful patch you have there. Do you think that any wild blackberriy that has no thorns is probably an naturalized garden bush? I have access to a wild patch near me that has berries so good, they taste like a kind of blackberry strawberry cross. Needless to say, I have a couple of those rascals in my edible landscape.
I'm going to try my hand at planting/growing blackberries this spring. I've watched several videos and I liked yours the best. Very informative. Thank you!
Hey mister, Thinking about trying the Navaho Thornless. I heard they were really sweet. I like the trelis system. How many plantings do I need for a 20' trelis? I see that you can propagate b berries easily with cuttings, but how many should I start off with on a 20' trelis. thanks
Very informative: I actually was searching blackberry bushes to be sure that is really what is growing in my Georgia backyard. I asked my husband not to cut the plant down because I thought it was a blackberry vine. It had a white flower on it in the Spring. But now as it's gotten taller, and has no flowers on it, I thought it looked a lot like poison oak (5 leaves). Your photos reassured me that blackberries have 5 leaves, though I'm still not absolutely sure of what I'm growing. Haha!
@TCsgirl68 If they are berries, then they will soon start giving berries. The white blooms on mine are starting to turn to little green thimble looking berries. They will grow larger and then eventually turn red, then blackish. There are other berries that it could also be, like raspberries. Take some photos or make a video & put it on youtube & people will be able to help you by id'ing it for you.
