which university did you attend to do the 5 week summer course? and how was you able to do it. All of the courses I've looked at you have to have a high school diploma but I live in the UK so I'm not sure if I will be able to do the summer courses or the regular programs. If possible can you give me some advice? I am really wanting to go out and study in Korea so please help me^^
i was looking at SNU's site and they showed exchange programs, but they were only for students at other universities, not still in high school. through what program were u able to go to korea?
@puertorican0192 I took part in the 5 week summer program. I wasn't at university at the time so couldnt have participated in the exchange programs even if I had wanted to :(
@forevajazzy vegetarian was one of the first words I learnt in Korean. People are generally really happy to adapt meals to make them vegetarian and there are also lots of vegetarian dishes :)
LOL, I was listening to your awesome Korean really closely cause the volume was low.. then all of a sudden it was all *BAM* SOOMEUL GOTDO CHATJI MONTHAE NANEUN-- XDD
@ElleWhiteTV I know~ I was in a bar when I saw it playing on the background screen I was like "Omg must take a picture!!!' and sat there waiting for the map to come round again on the slideshow loop ^^
i'm jealous when im done university since im a sophomore in high school, which is in like 9 years, im planning to visit korea. I'm learning the language by myself and i never went to a korean class. :(
@Mysteri0uus I speak a little french~ I am (very) slowly learning ^^ It's quite funny ...I get confused between languages....I started speaking Korean in my spanish class last week and I was in paris and tried to say something and I came out with chinese ^^ Oh well~ They looked at me really strangely, then my brain decided to behave and the french came out ^^ lol~ I was in Korea for 2 months :) I can't go this year - I am still paying back my parents for last year ^^ hehe~~~
omg what is up with the map!! your trip looks really amazing! you seem like such an interesting person.. i hope i can one day travel like that, first i want to learn the language though because i am too embarrassed to go to a country and not speak their language
@eronprice I know~ I saw the map and was like....WTF? And had to take a picture! It was a truly phenomenal trip ~ i never wanted it to end :) coming back to the UK was like falling out the clouds :( You shouldn't be embarrassed about it - I made mistakes so much I got it more wrong than right! One american guy came up to me in Korea when he heard me swapping between korean and english and said " you're american right, where's Mc Donalds?" I pretended I didn't speak english....
@XXfireheartXX99 Haha~~~ thanks ever so much :) If you have any requests let me know - I won't be able to do it for a while - but I will try to do it if I can :) xx
@smileyweeds i know!! I went to a bar with some of my friends and the owners were running a slideshow in the background and this is one of the pictures on the slideshow that I took a photo of .... ^.^ It made me laugh~~
@iceannice my best advice would be to go to the SNU language school website and have a look there :) if you have any questions, feel free to private message me :) I am more than happy to help! ~Joanna x
@emtinort I'm still learning :) Yes it is quite hard in the sense of getting the level of politeness you use right - i have managed to accidentally insult people by using the wrong one although since im foreign they usually correct me and let me off ^^ I think a language will always be hard to learn but if you are really determined and passionate it becomes a little bit easier :)
omg you're so lucky! i also want to go to south-korea, but i don't know how haha. i'm not in university or college, so it's hard go find something. how did you go to there? (i'm sorry, my english is bad) ^^

@ChaeKyon Yeah it was really good~ I love taekwondo too~ im gonna see if i can continue doing it in england! Yeah~ we went to the DMZ on a school trip but we could only take pictures in certain areas- it was incredibly restricted. we werent allowed to point at anything and the north koreans were watching the whole time~ but actually, quite alot of people are able to visit the DMZ. Finding books can be really hard and very expensive (i learnt the hard way by buying them all to see what works!) but i can recommend some good less expensive ones :)
wow you don't know how jealous i am right now. i wanna have that experience too! T_T how did you do that? like how did you apply to a school there? is it easy or HARD omg hehe! was it scary cuz like you were alone and stuff.. but did you have friends already before you went there? man that's so exciting. i would have been a lil bit scared though if i went there along not knowing anyone XD!
@hzel011393 haha~ i can imagine :) yeah~I think you were meant to have a university diploma but thankfully, i did really well on my high school exams (only A's and A*'s) so they let me in anyway~!) I was the youngest person on my course :) It was hard at times because I was on my own and I am pretty young but it was a fantastic experience! I knew people from chatting on the net but I didn't get to meet them til I arrived (like 영준 and Nelly) but a lot of people, I met on my course! xx
@funkystar25 oh man i can only dream about this. you're so luck you get very high grades. so that means ppl who are like not so smart can't go in? T-T you need to tutor me, srsly. but do you know any other schools where they don't take grade as a requirment? just payment.. haha as if i'm rich. XD!! oh & this might have cost you a lot, didn't it?
@hzel011393 haha ~ no its just because i am so young. really, the course is meant for people who are already at university whereas i have only done one year of high school ^-^ but i think that because I had high grades, they knew i wouldnt mess around on the course and that i would study properly :) most universities require you to be at university to start studying on the summer courses - SNU was actually the only one i could find that didn't say anything about it :) Actually, it wasnt too bad!
@funkystar25 OOH i get it! it must have been nice for you being the youngest there haha! so are you going back next year? lol because of this i feel motivated already XD !! haha i'll try to get high grades and graduate already XD !! so were you used to the way of living there? kekeke~~
@hzel011393 ^^ haha yeah ~ there were alot of younger people there like 18,19,20 (but i was the only underage one...made going out ...interesting!! ^^) Yeah~ i really wanna go back next year or go to china ~ well have to see :D haha ~ its definitely worth going. It's not too expensive because the living costs are fairly low as a visitor (a meal is about 5000원 or 2.75 pounds) although living there permanently is like living in London~ expensive! yeah~ coming back to england is a killer!
@hzel011393 im still bowing to every adult i see and answering the phone in korean....i was in the supermarket yesterday and walked up to an assistant and asked for something in korean,,,,,he just looked at me like..."you're white...but you're speaking a language i dont understand!" so yeah ~ its a bit of a body shock but you adjust pretty quickly :D
haha yeah it was absolutely fantastic! You should definitely go if you get the chance~! Its actually my second time going :) I was lucky enough to go last year and stay with friends but this time I went on my own to study and work.....despite being only 17~! ^-^ If you do decide to go, definitely let me know!!
Seriously~ another video? I shall look into it ^-^ I might have to get hold of my friends photos too :D
Any difference from Korea and Tokyo? Me and my friends (were british) are planning to goto Tokyo but anything Korea has that Tokyo doesn't? Thanks!
