I love your organ! ever thought about buying a rank or 2 of pipes off ebay and just making the console for them? it will probly cost more but it will be less work intencive. but i really do love this mini organ.
like basically do you need more than some basic woodworking tools to do these things??? chisel, plane( rabbit and long) , lathe??, drill??? very curious??
The 1/8" thick bass wood used for pipes cut with single edge razor blades and straight edge. A table saw would be nice for cabinet making. I don't have one so used a scroll saw with wide blade. Lathe and drill press not needed. Hand drill is good.
what about the things that capture the "signal" from the paper?? and how do you make the things that pull the paper throught the machine??? really would like to tackle this project. think maybe you could send me some plans??? or like lots of pictures and so forth?
hi- im wondering how hard it would be to build one of these things? did you make all the pipes? would you ever consider posting somekind of tutorial in building this? its so amazing!
Nice work!! I guess there are more of these homemade instruments around than one would tend to think. Mine spans three octaves and runs on a spa blower. My initial blower was a shop vac. The pressure is regulated at 14" wc. The late Gaylord Carter once played it.
That is a "A" Style mandolin constructed from a $99.99 kit (probably from China). The top is quarter sawn spruce. Maple back. I took time to graduate the inside top and back and believe it sounds much better than a regular 100 dollar mandolin.
Hmm.. I like the way it looks. I like a plain dark solid color not a sunburst or more than 2 colors unless its purple and black, cuz thats cool. But yeah i really like that one.
Thank you for that most beautiful of all comments! I viewed the video on watch making and was truly amazed. It is excellent to know good craftsmanship is still valued in this day and time.
Hope the Red Sox play well!! No plan for this machine. I learned a little about making a windchest some years ago and wood organ pipes from a previous kit project. Sure glad you enjoyed it! Bob
That would be a great line of work to be in if I were just starting out. Thanks for your prayers for making beautiful instruments!! Will keep trying. One day we will be together with Jesus! Amen. Bob
seriously you and your wife are 2 very cool "old" people. I wish I had that kind of patience and talent to build all these instruments. I especially like the Calliope
Hi, I'm using an old Hoover vacuum cleaner to supply wind to organ. The RPM's needed to be lowered with an electronic reostate. Also lots of insulation to decrease noise level.
I'm impressed that the noise level could be lowered that much, judging from the relative clarity of the instrument's sound in this video. and, I like the simple solution of adding the rheostat. Thanks for the explanation, Bob.
Hello Enrico!, The name of this song is TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME. This is a very popular old sports song in the USA. Sure glad you enjoy steam engines and trains. I do too.
