  • I listened to some Scottish guy at the U of Oregon in the 80s talk about the hammer. He always said the most important thing to do was to "drag" the hammer when you turn, he would say it like this, pardon my bad words, "for fucks sake, drag the ball wee laddie"....he was a great coach.

  • I walked on to my college T&F team in 1984 without any throwing experience and threw the hammer for three seasons. I picked it up again at 39 in the Summer of 2000. I have trained seriously for the last six years on the hammer and weight throws.

So, I guess I have almost 10 years worth of cumulative throwing experience. It takes time.

  • when did you start throwing? good stuff btw!

  • It´s a lifelong sport the hammerthrow...and thats great, you coach very well Rande.

  • Some people can coach but can't perform. Some can perform but can't coach. A few can do both. Most can do neither. I saw you post on The Ring. I plan on checking out all your vids, and I hope to compete with you some day. I'm currently a M50-54, but I don't know what you are.

  • Great stuff! Excellant lifting. Check out my vids... more to come soon. Happy throwing.
