I know this is a different universe. However, it is difficult for me to comprehend how humans were not capable of producing weapons or machines powerful enough to combat enemy forces in the future. In the Halo cosmos, it is around 500-something AD, and humans are still confined to metallic projectile weapons and terrestrial vehicles. In the Terminator cosmos, humans possess at least phased plasma weaponry, and combat machines like the T-1000 which are completely liquid metal. (next comment)

@Thedoctor19000: (continued comment) : Also, in the Terminator cosmos, the war between humans and machines all occurs on the surface of Earth, and concluded in 2029 before there was temporal paradox. In my opinion, if there was an army of T-1000's, then Skynet might have obliterated any legion of Flood forms encountered by it. However, the Flood do possess technology that can distort the cosmic fabric of the universe -- that needs to be accounted.
