that actually isn't a light from a stage-light shining on Robin Pecknold, its actually God's light shining on this one divine soul. Thank YOU Robin for giving my generation something to live for, with all the turmoil happening in my life and in others lives, you open up a door with an energy I can't describe. This music fits every moment of my life.

I second the indie Jesus. But I have totally fell in love with this band... They are cute in their own little indie way.. I love it! :D this song is my favorite right now..
Fleet Fox deserves all and more. They make beautiful music that reminds me of music that died in the 60's. They recreate so much more and hit me hard.
@cavemanfarts Yo, Im just wondering what music from the 60s this sounds like. Everyone seems to say its recreating that old 60s sound, I think I listen to plenty of music from the 60s, but I haven't heard any that sounds like this. Maybe Ive been listening to the wrong music from the 60s. I dont mean to say anything negative about this band, I like them very much, but I'm just lost as to why when theres a good new band everyone decides its like the 60s or something.
@settler18 I know what you mean, but I really was reminded of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young listening to Myconos - the structure of the harmony, it's very legitimately, obviously similar and possibly influenced by Wooden Ships...have a listen and let me know if you don't agree....
@preparednessisall Yah, thats a good point. Crosby Stills Nash and Young are the best example. I hear their influence in some of their other songs to. I still think that its ridiculous that people say that they sound like a 60s band. They could just as easily be a 70s band, and there are plenty of bands today that could be 60s style or 70s style. But your right at about CSN.
They are all excellent live. Robin is v. cool, mainly cos he seems to be very private & keeps it in his inner circle. It's the way to be. Love the fact he is only a young thing & seems very switched on. By the way I'm only 32 but still feel 21.....aaaahhhhh, if onleeeeeeee.....
@FabledHero24 probably the lighting aswell. Im exaggerating a bit mind, he'll probably look exactly the same when he is 32, some people are just like that
ha, I'm always pretty amazed when I see people like him who have achieved a lot and are so talented and learn they're actually younger than me. but it's also kind of depressing. xD;
I'm a singer. This song came on my iPod in my car stereo on the way home from work today. I kept driving around town until I'd had a chance to sing it 3 times. I just wish I could do the guitar part justice so I could play it myself.
just beautiful, he is so real and how he puts the lyrics together so well with his perfect voice makes me feel pure. and this is coming from a 13 yr old :)))
stating that you are 13 just made your comment less special to me. I am also 13, and it had nothing to do with what you were stating about the beauty of fleet fox's music. Being 13 does not mean you don't have opinions on things.
i forget the artist's name... but i took private art lessons some years ago and remember learning of one and how he used complementary colors such as blue and orange. Anyways, that's what the dichromatic scheme of this picture reminds me of. This song is truly amazing as well! Let's not forget that.
"The Fleet Foxes chief songwriter Robin Pecknold told Mojo magazine January 2009 about this reflection on mortality and loss. He explained: "My grandpa had just died and I was thinking about him. He was such a sweet guy. And the underlying influence in all this is the old English folk songs that I heard in the Lake District because they're not obvious and the melodies are weird and sophisticated."
who cares, this song isnt only about religion. its about his soul, and his spirit. you can interpret a song in thousands of ways, just like you can interpret religions thousands of ways. to me music is like a religion. its cleans my soul and opens my heart. love like music is a universal language. just enjoy this mans beautfiul message.
jesus never even existed fuck the world taking a fairy tale more seriously than everything else. believing in religion is a complete lapse in the ability to reason. its illogical, irrational and unreasonable. with the thousands of religions there have been and as many religious figures especially with many seemingly being modeled after others such as jesus being modeled after horus. its bullshit dont waste your time
dude, i don't care if you don't believe in god, but taking away other peoples faith is the biggest dick move in the history of dick moves. Some people have nothing to live for but their faith. Religion isn't about the arguement if its true or not, its about believing in something that creates a better life for you. So you can live in a sad world where all you have to look forward to is death and i don't care, but don't call religion a waste of time or demean religious believers you arrogant pos.
I agree with Willm, but i also agree with DeadCamel....while its idiotic its neccasary for the weak minded and helpless to give them hope even if false
true, spacey. This song is beautiful no doubt, but when I figured out the majesty of the subject matter, I'm truly overwhelmed by the insight into death and mourning. At 22, he says!!
