  • i wonder if they've heard the cover by first aid kit

  • This is one of those songs like Heartbeats by José González that people just become totally quiet when it starts cause its so beautiful...

  • Funny watching this now...I seriously doubt he's living in his parents basement anymore! Fleet Foxes baby!

  • "dear shadow alive and well....you tell me everything true" is this a reference to a jungian shadow? Like prehistoric dwarf that guards the subconscious. I hope not cause I like the music and think american psychology is a load of crap that worships a couple dead guys' thoughts

  • @hulowi The Jungian Shadow is Psychodynamic, which is all a load of bull no matter where it's from.

  • Beautiful. Timeless. Transcending. I've found the peace I always knew was somwhere out there..

  • If you like him, you will be absolutely stunned by a Swedish duo called FIrst Aid Kit. Put this into the search bar:

Fleet Foxes - Tiger Mountain Peasant Song (Cover)

    by jagadambarecords

  • He is exactly what I pictured Jesus looking like.

  • For those who would care, what do you think of the band name, "Pinerain"? I just want others opinion on the band name.

  • @HapieHipie PeenRain sounds better.

  • that actually isn't a light from a stage-light shining on Robin Pecknold, its actually God's light shining on this one divine soul. Thank YOU Robin for giving my generation something to live for, with all the turmoil happening in my life and in others lives, you open up a door with an energy I can't describe. This music fits every moment of my life.

  • Dear Shadow alive and well,

    How can the body die

    You tell me everything

    Anything

    True

  • Holy shit I didn't know he was so young.

  • I want to marry this song.

  • If you like midlake/ fleet foxes then you might like British band called FOSSIL COLLECTIVE. They have a great vid on youtube called ON & ON - check it out xx

  • @midlakefan1979 dude every fleet foxes vid has a comment like this.... there not that good.... huh

  • @allendupras where not that good?

  • @groverws fossil collective.... there not THAT good.... they are good.... but yah

  • 9 ppl are on crack for not liking this song...

  • genius

  • Doesn't using youtube to criticize people who don't like this miss the beauty of the music and the unity it brings between us?

  • this is crazy good

  • @linnylolo and the beard is crazy delicious

  • By this time, 9 people do not possess a soul. Beautiful

  • the beard is the power

  • tears down my face

  • This song is amazing!

  • 9 people are idiots.

  • how come all the great musicians have beards...

  • @FireLitNite Power lies hidden in the beard.

  • @FireLitNite ya! dan auerbach, sam beam, seasick steve, list is endless

  • freakin great song. Saw the first aid kit cover of this song first. both are really good.

  • I think I am in love.

  • what is this song about?

  • Comment removed

  • 1:04

  • I don't know what he's done, he's turning himself into a demon

  • i cant find the word s to this and how it make and moves me to my core when music touches you in deep and invokes somthing raw can only be as holy and amazing

  • i love this man

  • Fleet foxes can touch my heart with their music and lyrics... <3

  • I second the indie Jesus. But I have totally fell in love with this band... They are cute in their own little indie way.. I love it! :D this song is my favorite right now..

  • Great voice, amazing songs.

  • Did they get the name "tiger mountain" from Brian Eno's "Taking Tiger Mountain"?

  • He is a gifted singer for his voice to sound this good live.

  • When you hear something this beautiful it captures all that is wonderful in this world and affirms all your wildest dreams.

  • whens their next album? i discovered non-mainstream stuff a few years ago, my other favorites are moby radiohead and mgmt...any other suggestions?

  • what camera was this filmed with?

  • love this

  • You lie about living in mom's basement man. Jeez.

  • @TheCrimper lol, doubt he lives in his parents basement either

  • @noblescott I actually believe him. I have read he suffers from a form of social anxiety. Just makes it even more amazing he does what he does.

  • @hitman212121 hmm, well that does make him more appealing in that shy artistic slightly autistic friendly friend sort of a way

  • wait a minute why does it say he performed it in november when this was uploaded in june

  • @Wcburg1 i think it means 11th day of 6th month, that's how we write the date in england anyway

  • @springbok93 and Australia and probably everywhere else in the world :)

  • amazingly beautiful.

  • i saw them live at lollapolooza in chicago 09 soooo goood

  • "Indie Jesus".. I think that might be my favorite comment ever :D

  • just amazing.

  • Fleet Fox deserves all and more. They make beautiful music that reminds me of music that died in the 60's. They recreate so much more and hit me hard.

  • @cavemanfarts Yo, Im just wondering what music from the 60s this sounds like. Everyone seems to say its recreating that old 60s sound, I think I listen to plenty of music from the 60s, but I haven't heard any that sounds like this. Maybe Ive been listening to the wrong music from the 60s. I dont mean to say anything negative about this band, I like them very much, but I'm just lost as to why when theres a good new band everyone decides its like the 60s or something.

  • @settler18 I know what you mean, but I really was reminded of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young listening to Myconos - the structure of the harmony, it's very legitimately, obviously similar and possibly influenced by Wooden Ships...have a listen and let me know if you don't agree....

  • @preparednessisall Yah, thats a good point. Crosby Stills Nash and Young are the best example. I hear their influence in some of their other songs to. I still think that its ridiculous that people say that they sound like a 60s band. They could just as easily be a 70s band, and there are plenty of bands today that could be 60s style or 70s style. But your right at about CSN.

  • Amazing

  • so sexy. so beautiful. want. now. hes only a year older than me too that's sick.

  • I have fell in love...

  • haha, indie jesus!

    but you're right though! :3

  • like a miracle

  • one of my favorite voices...

  • God, he's amazing

  • Indie Jesus

  • Only just gets the high note dunt he??

  • They are all excellent live. Robin is v. cool, mainly cos he seems to be very private & keeps it in his inner circle. It's the way to be. Love the fact he is only a young thing & seems very switched on. By the way I'm only 32 but still feel 21.....aaaahhhhh, if onleeeeeeee.....

  • ...wow... :)

  • I want him.

  • 22? he looks and acts 32

  • no way dude....cuz he has a beard?

Nah i dont think he looks 32 i could tell he was a younger guy. hes only 4 years older than me... thats pretty cool.

  • @FabledHero24 probably the lighting aswell. Im exaggerating a bit mind, he'll probably look exactly the same when he is 32, some people are just like that

  • @Chorleclips...this is true

  • ha, I'm always pretty amazed when I see people like him who have achieved a lot and are so talented and learn they're actually younger than me. but it's also kind of depressing. xD;

  • amazing....im new to the band...so any info on them would be sweet.

  • So many young people listening to this music, it's great :D

  • cool hair.

  • awesome!

  • brilliant band and song. I have the album

  • I'm a singer. This song came on my iPod in my car stereo on the way home from work today. I kept driving around town until I'd had a chance to sing it 3 times. I just wish I could do the guitar part justice so I could play it myself.

  • Its not too hard, I encourage you to learn it!

  • i am 16 year old and i live in greece so i'll never see fleet foxes live.

    that's surely more unfair

  • I am the same age as Robin, and i have a 16 year olds facial hair, and the voice of a one to boot. Not fair... so not fair.

  • just beautiful, he is so real and how he puts the lyrics together so well with his perfect voice makes me feel pure. and this is coming from a 13 yr old :)))

  • stating that you are 13 just made your comment less special to me. I am also 13, and it had nothing to do with what you were stating about the beauty of fleet fox's music. Being 13 does not mean you don't have opinions on things.

  • very true. awesome song as well

  • Fleet Foxes, it's real.

  • OH MY GOD! he is amazing live! u don't see many artists who are! sounds just as amazing as on the cd.

  • I think this is one of the if not the most beautiful song I´ve ever heard.

  • i forget the artist's name... but i took private art lessons some years ago and remember learning of one and how he used complementary colors such as blue and orange. Anyways, that's what the dichromatic scheme of this picture reminds me of. This song is truly amazing as well! Let's not forget that.

  • ooooooooooh so beautiful!!!!

  • ahhhh xxxxxxxxxx

  • beautiful

  • Man, he is so real.

  • I'm a metal head. but songs as beautiful as this get me everytime. 5*'s

  • I'm right there with ya!

  • at 0.55 a dude in the background says get your haircut.. wat a fucking idiot

  • What a song... god.

  • J E S U S

  • Saw them last night in concert, they sound great and a cool group of guys!

  • In Philly? I saw the same show, they were phenomenal.

  • This music is a quintessence of greatness!

  • I think I'm in love.......

  • this song is a damned addiction that will eventually land me in rehab.

  • you are phenominal

  • jaja...he is not left handed!!!....watch again mbrunnme!

  • not a left handed guitar.

  • hahaha

  • outstanding poetry touches the heart so definitely.

  • Only on occasion do I see, hear or experience something that reminds me there is beauty in people, there must be to create something so beautiful.

  • The song is partially about his grandpa.

"The Fleet Foxes chief songwriter Robin Pecknold told Mojo magazine January 2009 about this reflection on mortality and loss. He explained: "My grandpa had just died and I was thinking about him. He was such a sweet guy. And the underlying influence in all this is the old English folk songs that I heard in the Lake District because they're not obvious and the melodies are weird and sophisticated."

  • who cares, this song isnt only about religion. its about his soul, and his spirit. you can interpret a song in thousands of ways, just like you can interpret religions thousands of ways. to me music is like a religion. its cleans my soul and opens my heart. love like music is a universal language. just enjoy this mans beautfiul message.

  • jesus never even existed fuck the world taking a fairy tale more seriously than everything else. believing in religion is a complete lapse in the ability to reason. its illogical, irrational and unreasonable. with the thousands of religions there have been and as many religious figures especially with many seemingly being modeled after others such as jesus being modeled after horus. its bullshit dont waste your time

  • dude, i don't care if you don't believe in god, but taking away other peoples faith is the biggest dick move in the history of dick moves. Some people have nothing to live for but their faith. Religion isn't about the arguement if its true or not, its about believing in something that creates a better life for you. So you can live in a sad world where all you have to look forward to is death and i don't care, but don't call religion a waste of time or demean religious believers you arrogant pos.

  • I agree with Willm, but i also agree with DeadCamel....while its idiotic its neccasary for the weak minded and helpless to give them hope even if false

  • Reason and rationality are way overrated.

  • goosebumps

  • Seeing these guys live is a spiritual experience.

  • living legend.

  • spiritual experience...

  • I don't see anybody that dear to me. Dear shadow alive and well, how can the body die? You tell me everything, anything, true.

    Jesse.

I don't know what I have done, I'm turning myself to demon..

Such a beautiful piece of art.

  • Beautiful. Absolute beauty

  • I really like them, but I think I just blew out an ear drum.

  • Tell me about it!

  • heard this with rosie on triple J and I loved it immediately.

  • he looks like jesus....but better at singing id imagine

  • omg! have you seen jesus???

    XD

  • Yep, he said i was his favourite.

  • something about the wording of that reply tells me you didn't skip a beat coming up with it, though it could take some people hours. Well played.

  • the last of us who are actually to die

  • there's a club??

  • who else could totally see Kermit singing this?

  • ROFL. Haha...I think Kermit could legitimately sing ANYTHING that involves an acoustic guitar.

  • Comment removed

  • i lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve this song!

  • join the club

  • I have to admit it was 1/2 the first song in during SNL before I sat up and paid attention to the tight melodies and skill this band that was hearing for the first time showed. You rarely see four vocalists in a band anymore, and they harmonized well. I'll be searching out more of their music for sure!

  • I'll fight all you hippies!!! I'm a meathead!!!UUUGHHH!!!!

  • Well I hope they don't suffer that fate just because they were on SNL. They are one of just a handful of INDIE bands to ever appear on SNL in it's 35+ years. Fleet Foxes have had a major influence on the entire year of 2008, picking up numerous BEST ALBUM awards.

We'll see how they fair in their next album, but they don't seem like the kind of band that only has 1 or 2 good songs on 1 album. Every song on their eponymous album is amazing -- not just my opinion.

  • I love this band...They are so GAY!!!

  • What does that MEAN?

  • this sound isnt anything new. its a deep throw back to the 70s. the old heads now what im talking about.

regardless. good well done music this group makes

  • Indeed.

  • Apparently the old heads also have piss poor grammar.

  • of course they do, think of what they did other than listen to the greatful dead. . .you know what they say, if you remember the 60's you weren't really there.

  • Why do they cheer when he drinks water?

  • Like all good audiences, they appreciate a man who takes his hydration seriously.

  • hahahhahahahahahahahaa

  • Water is an essential element of earth, man. Every sip is an appreciation of earth and deserves applause.

  • this song is awesome - you guys crack me up!!!
