Fuck communism and socialism. I am from Russia, Stalin killed 30+ million of my countrymen, and we have spent the last 20 years trying to clean up what communism messed up. Liberty and small government is the only political system that benefits the people. Communism and socialism just give the government more power to corrupt.

@themetalgod21 Well he did what no other Soviet leader did, he let the Soviet Bloc go and brought freedom the the Soviet Union. Yeltzin is the one who ruined the Soviet Union, he disolved it and turned Russia into the disaster it was during the 90s, and from which it has yet to fully recover.

@dave19941000 Gorbachev destroyed the Soviet Empire.It lost it's super power status.However,with Putin at the helm Russia is on the way back do to the enormous natural resources.They put eastern europe and parts of western Eurpoe in the cold the other year when the Ukraine didn't want to pay it's oil bill.

Infact its population is in crisis because far no many people are leaving, dying from old age or being killed, and at the same time less people are being born then murdered alone. In this day and age the number needed is about 150 million. When I brought up the 2008 war of Russian aggretion I was talking about how, even with all the equipment used, the war was 7 times more expensive and longer then originaly expected (it was supposed to be only take 3 days).

@MrMcGale But it was Yeltsin, and President of Russia, as well as the Presidents of Ukraine and Belarus, which agreed to disolve the Soviet Union, Gorbachov had no say in it and was against it.

Obviously most communist countries haven't worked, and their are many reasons for it, they are often isolated, demonised, or just have corrupt authoritarian governments. It is not the nature of the communist system to fail, their are many capitalist countries that are or have been authoritarian and corrupt, with poor conditions for the majority of people, it's not the system that is built to fail, it's how it's implemented, we're in a global recession because of free market capitalism.
