Persia was practically the center of Ummayad and then Abbasid Islamic dynasties, which meant that many Arabs migrated and traveled to Iran and the Persians to Arabia. That went on for close to 300 years. That's why today physically there is no difference between Iranian and Arab. Afghans are an Aryan people who lived in remote parts of Persia, isolated from Arabs or invaders, that's they are lighter than Iranians. Afghans actually resemble aryans with exception of pashtuns(not aryan)

Dari is spoken in Afghanistan. If you knew some history you would realize that not only is Farsi a modern subset dialect of Dari, but it's actually considered the "poet's language" in Iran. There always seems to be some sense of superiority with Iranians, when there really shouldn't be.

ppl have begun to use persian and iranian interchangeably. but there is actually a difference. persian is an ethnicity of the aryan race, usually signified by ppl who speak farsi. ppl who qualify for that are most iranians some afghans. and ppl from tajikistan. there are obvioiusly other places in the world where ppl's native tongue is farsi. but iran, afghanistan, and tajikistan would be the top 3. iranian is obviously a nationality. for example ethnically i'm persian, but nationally i'm afghan

Dari is spoken in Afghanistan. If you knew some history you would realize that not only is Farsi a modern subset dialect of Dari, but it's actually considered the "poet's language" in Iran. There always seems to be some sense of superiority with Iranians, when there really shouldn't be.

ppl have begun to use persian and iranian interchangeably. but there is actually a difference. persian is an ethnicity of the aryan race, usually signified by ppl who speak farsi. ppl who qualify for that are most iranians some afghans. and ppl from tajikistan. there are obvioiusly other places in the world where ppl's native tongue is farsi. but iran, afghanistan, and tajikistan would be the top 3. iranian is obviously a nationality. for example ethnically i'm persian, but nationally i'm afghan

That makes about 34 million Iranians that aren't Persian. These other ethnicities are Azerbaijani (16 %), Kurds (7%), Lurs (6%), Arabs (2%), Baluchi (2%), Turkmens (1%). CRAZY. haha Afghanistan has about 12 million persians with a total population of almost 29 million.

The BBC Persian website is called BBC *Persian* for good reason; it's the English word for Farsi.
Whether Iranians call themselves Irani/Irooni/Whatever is completely up to them.
