i was lucky to have grown up with the beatles and believe me we played every song every day. but they had to pick a single from each album to officially release. every song was famous, though. each album, when it came out, generated so much excitement and surprise and joy. the radio stations played their music but really they didn't fit into any genre or format. it was always, and remains, Beatles Music. it's so beautiful that i really think there's something sacred to it.
@callseba Thank you for your comments. I too grew up listening to them. Every song, every album were like a bright sunny day after a storm. There are a hundred favorites for me.
There are many hidden messages to hear in Beatles music pertaining to the truth of life. To learn how to perceive them, search for "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read through the section about The Beatles. What it says will blow your mind.
This great song wasn't even included in the original USA release of Hard Day's Night. My Dad had an original copy and this song wasn't on it - and it's among the best if not THE best song on the record.
@kissherlips1 It's my favorite song on AHDN (a record filled with great songs from beginning to end). Paul was still slightly behind John on AHDN, but was "coming up fast" with 3 terrific songs (this one, Can't Buy Me Love and And I Love Her).
Just one of all the diamonds in the Beatles ocean. So melancholy, so deep. This is why I thank myself everyday for discovered the greatest band in music history.
Part of the reason why you don't hear these songs on the radio is due to the fact that the Beatles produced so many awesome songs. They could dedicate a radio station to their music and you could probably play a weeks worth of their music and you would never hear the same song.
i love the bridge in this .if that's the proper terminology. "me i'm just the lucky kind..." that part. love the change and build-up to the vocal. so cool. all their songs had so many changes, cool hooks and riffs, and they invented so many little guitar licks that became instant classics, like the opening in day tripper, i feel fine, drive my car and countless others.
@1skullduggery how i agree--take"hello goodbye"-really its a daft little song but with all the background harmonies and general genius of the beatles, its an absolute joy--same as "got to get you into my life", so under-rated but the same things apply.
im from cincinnati and the dayton station WTUE 104.7 plays "breakfast with the beatles" every sunday morning 9 till noon. if they dont have something like that where you live mabey you could check out WTUE.com hope this helps any beatles fan who needs a fix
@theamazingsamurai Allthough good songs, the freshness has worn out of them. There are several other bands' songs that have gone through the mill as well.
@theamazingsamurai Sadly it's like that with many bands. The radio plays what people want to hear and most people only know the Beatles and bands like them for the songs on their "Greatest Hits" albums.
It wouldn't be such a hidden gem if people would learn to stop focusing on the the later "brilliant works"? The Beatles peak in 1966 and then their writing got weaker so Wings and most of John's solo records were no surprise. I don't get the White Album and Abbey Road was not much better.
@11xzxzxz I think you fail to realize The Beatles were 100X greater together than the sum of each individual. They fed off of each other and inspired each other to make great music. Peaked in '66? Uh, no. It sounds like you prefer early Beatles to later Beatles. That's fine, but one of the great things about them is that they constantly strived for new sounds. If you think AR is bad, you are in the minority. Solo stuff suffers because it lacks the other three.
@myrtlebox Jesus gestalt guy you are serious about the whole being more than the sum of parts and solo works suffers because it lacks the other three? Pure genius. When I wrote "peaked" it doesn't mean I don't like some songs from all records. Damn I'm in the minority in not liking Abbey Road? Dat hurts because I know the majority knows what is right. And I checked and messed up before .. AR is worse than The White Album.
@11xzxzxz White album > AR? Uh...okay...please enjoy it.
Your comment went to 'hidden gems'. You admonish people to "stop focusing on later 'brilliant works' " Who is doing that exactly? "Things We Said Today" & "I'll Be Back" are probably perceived as hidden gems since they did not appear in AHDN film and are tucked on the B-side of the album. Peace! ;-)
@myrtlebox AR? is abbey road and you used the abbreviation first. People should listen to whatever they want but I just prefer more of the middle and some of the early stuff. I don't like Maxwell Silver Hammer, Octup. garden, mean mr mustard, the end, oh darling , because , carry that weight. I like Come together and hear comes the sun but could not sit through this record. The White Album is somewhat better but doesn't interest me .. most albums before were good. Peace.

Me, a troll....? You ARE an intellectual light-weight, aren't you? (JUst nod your head, honey!)
believe it or not this was the first song by THE BEATLES i've ever heard in my life... and it's still one of my favourites and the lyrics, yes, things we said today, the lyrics is just beyong and over... young beatles were able to create the poem like this, isn't it amazing?? after all this years I LOVE YOU ALL - JOHN, PAUL, GEORGE and RINGO, and i will always love you... things we said today...
1:28 you can hear a mistake in Paul's vocal track when he says "on and on". Weird, I think the Beatles should of been edited more carefully but back then the technology was certainly not where it is now.
