Far superior to anything done recently in this genre. And what a macabre scene at the ending! The wax carousel dummies matched up to the mill makes for a novel setting.
Heavens to Murgatroid! What a thrill to watch this today for the first time. Enjoyed it very much....a prime example of how a film can be chilling to watch but yet not have to resort to graphic gore, sex or violence to be entertaning. A wonderful production...especially the dubbing. THANKS so much for posting this delightful "blast from the past"! You've MADE my day & my weekend! :-)
a great horror movie for it's time and for today. i can see alot of resembalance from this in other films made throught the decades. reminds me alot of re-animator without the comedy
While doing research for a book, this title came up. I've enjoyed it....parts of it seemed to drag a little pace wise, but that's minor-good lighting and a well told story-thanks for posting this!
@360whiplash Why would it need to be re-made? The only reason why films (art) are re-made is because producers are so afraid to lose money that they don't trust new ideas. Re-makes are always a bad idea..It's like saying someone should repaint a famous artist's work...
I've read that Bava was in fact involved in this, although uncredited. According to a few reviews I've read, he completed the film when the original director was unable to. If anyone else has better information please let us know.
Thank you VERY MUCH for posting this gorgeous film. Absolutely lovely.

I feel really kinda bad for Elfy. I'm a guy so I don't usually talk about romance and stuff, but I'd say she is the biggest victim in the whole film.

No remakes. Leave this as a testament to times when movies were great. Thanks for the upload.

Wow, what a great flick. Super spooky atmosphere. That carousel was totally bizarre and absolutely creepy. Gotta go read the story...
Thanks for posting! I'd read about this during film research back in college but never caught it.

Many thanks for posting this surprising and charming gem. Much better shot and more atmospheric than some more celebrated titles of the time.

@360whiplash Why a remake? We already have this.

@360whiplash Oh really? See The House Of Wax as an example of why the original is often the best.
Really interesting movie, I remember renting it back in the 1980s VHS era.

What a fantastic movie.
Beautifully filmed, great sets and decor,
the use of vivid colours against the darkness reminds me of Bava.
And what a gorgeous leading lady in Scilla Gabel, ( great name ), she looks like a fantasy combination of Ursulla Andress and Raquel Welch.
All this and the barely concealed eroticism, ( did anyone else notice? ).
A hidden treasure, thanks for sharing, this is one for collection.
