Can't agree more with Cameron, in Belgium, there's a free school system, operating next to a state run (local council schools and regional schools). These free schools are predominantly Catholic, and they get grants per student. Many small communities benefit from these small scale schools, with genuine atmosphere, they are the backbone of many village's social networks, built around the community schools. In the end they cost less, and provide better education than state schools.
