  • Rest In Peace Walt~~~

  • Hey tlmurray68. Your beautiful story is a song in itself. But remember you and I are the lucky ones. The ones who got to experience a love like that. Yes brief, but still something that left an impression on us for the rest of our lives. Here's to songs like this allowing us to ride shotgun on a time machine that has express travel plans down memory lane........

  • Walt Gaines went home to be with the LORD today after a long illness in Los Angeles. Keep his wife Barb in prayer and the family. He is free now! FOR REAL!

  • This song brings tears to my eyes, it is so beautiful. It is a shame that guys today can't let loose and be free to express their real feelings for a lady. If only he had been persistent in his pursue of me we could have had a big time love. oh and by the way he was a marine and from the land of liberty.

  • this is THEE song!

  • In 1963 my marine took my hand and lead me to the dance floor in the base club, he held me tight and me just melted together he was too shy to tell me how he really felt so he was using this song as a vehicle to let me know. I was to shy to know so we lost each other but today I realize that he really did want to be with me, ah the pain of love lost.....he haunts me to this day by the way he was from PHILLY.

  • Are You feelin Me Yet?

The kids today can't even imagine the romance of yesterday!

Love, love, love it. I have them all but this is one that escaped me and am so happy to have stumbled across it. It brings back such fantastic memories!!!

  • I'm sorry to hear that, this comes straight off my 45 rpm, and sounds pretty good really, maybe a CD would be better as it's mastered perfectly isn't it? I hope you find one, try searching with a search engine for the music store near you or online etc? Hope you find it. JOHN

  • I'm only 18 and i love these songs!! Oldies Live Forever!

  • I love this song!!! This and "The Bells" are my favorites by them. I agree with you MowtownMagic1959; they are VERY underrated. I was born the yr. before this song came out and I have seen VERY few photos or shows with them on it and this was the ish and STILL is!!! How many shotgun weddings were because of this song (smile)??!!

  • Love these comments, I was always an Originals fan (since the 60's!!) have you heard my other uptempo track I put on YOU TUBE by them, it's called "Suspicion" from 1965 and was very popular here in the UK. I thought they sounded like the Isley Brothers on that one, really brilliant, just type it in the search on here and you'll be able to hear it :-) JOHN

  • Thanks for the info. I had no idea they had other songs besides "Baby, I'm For Real" and "The Bells". Those are the only songs I heard growing up as a kid.

  • Yes, you can click on my name on the right-hand side profile and see all the Motown I've put on here, about 221 so far I think? they are all ones I really liked and lesser known but just as good. :-) JOHN

  • I don't think any film of them exists as far as I know kgbronx631957 it was so long ago now, but they were a very great favorite of mine from the 1960's as was all the other singles I've put on here. Many thanks for your comment. JOHN

  • Hey Motown Magic, there was video posted of them singing this on some show, and shockingly enough all four of the singers in the group shared lead vocals, it was funny, because all they all sound so much alike!

  • I'd have liked to have seen this video NJNupe1911 as there is very little video or film of The Originals in general but I thought they were very underrated and unique back in the 60's as did useverlastin too here! Thanks to all for commenting. JOHN

  • Hey NJNupe1911

Sending you a shout-out from LadyHW Silver Star AKA (29 years strong)

    Skeeweet

  • Hello beautiful, you know what they say.."Pretty girls love pretty boys"...Yooooo Yooooo thanks for the love and now i'm showing it to you back! Have a great day and great week! May you enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!

  • That is so sad. I would've loved to see them because I was always curious about them. It just seemed like they had those 2 monster jams and just disappeared. I hope they have some photos somewhere, but back then, they weren't think about saving stuff for the internet. Google or Motown may have something, provided something was saved.

  • Come on now! it was so long ago! It's really that they were so unappreciated! It's sad that they wre but thak God for youtube! It really gives us some wonderful moments to remeber if the really great acts who were so underrated but brought to life now by their families and friends. (IT's a shame if no one can find film!!!

  • Thanks for your comments it's nice to see that things about the old Motown artists crop up now & again more recently, and the music pops up in movie films quite often, I'm glad to see that here in the UK they had Gladys Knight telling us on TV about tour dates in London & cities with the Pips, so she is still going like Martha Reeves & The Vandellas! JOHN

  • I love this song. Although this is the original, I think the best version was done by Esther Phillips from her LP 'From a whisper to a scream.' I hope somebody posts it because it really is beautiful! Makes me think of loves lost......

  • This song was written by the great Marvin Gaye!!

  • Yes, and he was their producer too.

  • And he played drums and sang background too!!

  • and piano...it was actually the first project after he took, off 4 years, right b4 what going on

  • thats my granddad hank dixon yeah yeah

  • Wow, that's your granddad??? You should be very proud. Your dad and the Originals were an incredibly talented group. In my opinion, they were one of the best R&B groups coming out of Motown...

and romantic lyrics - a stunner of all time.

The magic of clean smooth oldies that warms your heart is priceless !! Today's music is
