The problem is not if Smyrna was or was not greek. The problem is that my ancestors were forsed to abbandon Asia Minor. And that is very sad. For both Greeks and Turks.
I know you cannot research yourself but smyrna/izmir was only 50% greek in 1918.
in 1700 it was 25%
in 1800 30%
between 1800 and 1900 greeks grew to 50%. because of the greek immigration from the agean islands. nobody was living there for 3000 years. between 1200 and 1400 there was no city of smyrna it was a village and castle.
