Got to commend the ref Sid Davis - for the times he was conscientious and alert - always on top of everything that was going on throughout the entire bout.
How many times in recent years have you seen a knockout due to primarily body shots? This is very impressive. There are too many head-hunters in the sport now (thank you, Ali). They should watch this video.
@MrJerryw08 Yes because Palomino easily beat Duran and Benitez, both guys that Hearns destroyed, Oops!Palomino got his azz kicked by both of them, easily. That is a comparison that doesn't make sense. Palomino was a great fighter but Hearns in his prime would have beat him silly.
@Bxngexpert Benitez did not beat Palomino easily, Mr. "Expert." In fact, Carlos claims to this day he was ripped off in that fight. It was close but Carlos made the mistake of agreeing to fight him in PR, which was stupid. The crowd roared with every rally by Benitez and that made a huge difference. Duran, on the other hand, won all ten rounds against Carlos. And Hearns would have, indeed, presented a huge challenge for him.
@Kedbuka Oh man, not more of your "expert boxing analysis"!!! LMAO... After all ur Marg destroying Cotto in the rematch talk, u can not be taken serious. Shut ur mouth mija. I got something to plug ur mouth with so u can stop embarrassing yourself if needed.
carlos was a great fighter went 15 with benetiz, and 10 with duran and was right in both fights to the end. had 9 title defense when you had to fight the 1 contenders.
You don't see fights of this speed and intensity at this kind of weight anymore, sadly. Stracey showed class and grit in trying to come back in the eleventh, but it was clear from the start that this just wasn't going to be his night.
great british fighter.

This is one of the best American fighters ever. So underrated.I would have taken Palomino over Hearns any-day.

Great fight anyway. Can somebody write if Palomino was a mandatory challenger or was chosen for an "easy" defense?

@gianca60
I think he was thought to be a 'safe' defence because he had drawn with Hedgemon Lewis while Stracey had knocked Lewis out.

this Stracey had guts not like some of today's British fighter.

Palomino destroyed Stracey's body with an unbelievable body attack. John H was just overpowered in this fight.
