  • Can I dry the atomizer faster with a hairdryer if i clean it with alcohol?

  • I use the alcohol myself and water rinse...I dry burn them to get some of the crude off em. When I first did this to my 510's, the paint peeled off the atty also, but no harm done, just a nice stainless look. Hasn't happened with any of my Ego atty's, but most are stainless to begin with...I've even tried oven cleaner, which I read about in a forum. Works, but nuttin' to write home about. It's the burnt residue that's hard to clean from the filament...Good Luck!..

  • Go to Walmart & grab a cheap Ultra Sonic Jewelry Cleaner... Fill it with Coca~Cola, place atty in basket & run 15 minutes... Heat large glass of distilled water in microwave & rinse atty... Blow atty dry with air compressor, blow dryer or slow dry on towel for 24 hours... LIKE NEW EVERY TIME!!!

  • Out of the videos about hot to clean those atties, This is the most easiest and simple. I'll try this tonight, Hopefully the burnt taste from my 801 will be gone too. Thanks Cozzcon!

  • "You can probably see this already starting to evaporate."

I can't stop laughing at this.

  • isopropyl alcohol is toxic. much better to use food-grade alcohol like clear vodka or everclear.

  • I cleaned a perfectly worling 510 atomiser in 99% isopropanol and afterwards it was completely dead and never worked again. What terrible advice and waste of money.

  • want about a can pc cleaner air duster

  • it dont matter if if water brings lime scale becues its life is one mouth to 6 weeks of aeGo-T Atomizer

  • I saw a vid where someone used a can of air to blow out the atomizer (Ego T) to clean it. i think thats a great idea. I have a nebulizer treatment machine so I thought hey why not try blowing it out that way. Yep it works. heck an old fish tank air pump with tubing would work. Beats soaking and waiting for it to dry. and no worries about vaping alcohol. Hope this helps

  • Just a question, isn't the dry burn method better?

  • I just got one of these today. The cleaning instructions I have also mentioned placing it in an ultrasonic cleaner for a few minutes. Have you tried the ultrasonic cleaner method by any chance or know of anyone who has?

  • Could I use a well suctioned vacuum cleaner on the atomizers if I want them to dry quicker? I tried that after washing with alcohol and water and got some decent results but ive yet to compare it to a new atty.

  • Thank you for posting this video. I suspected that this would be the best method and you seem to really know what you're doing. I've tried cleaning my atomizers with alcohol in the past and it definitely helped. I don't think I left it in the alcohol for long enough so I will try this again. I'll comment on my results. Thanks again.

  • I did this to the exact t of this video and both of my atomizers are dead, I am so disappointed and I still don't know how to properly clean these atomizers, I am sticking to my 306 direct drip, to hell with these tank atomizers.

  • Best way to use an ashtray at this point!

  • Last personal tip: A hair dryer works wonders for me. For some reason its better than 2 days of drying too. Some have seemed ruined after air drying, but I take a hair dryer to it for a few minutes and its back to new. Use tongs to hold it while drying. Also, dry burning has really killed a few atomizers for me. Honestly, all this fuss is why I stick to genuine Joye cartomizers (not Boge!) They taste better too.

  • Soaking overnight in pure vinegar works on stubborn attys for me. Heat it up for a faster soak. Try 15-20 mins. If it's still clogged/bad tasting leave it overnight. Then rinse with your normal alcohol or water and dry as usual. Remember to blow all the liquids through a few times.

  • I put alchahol into a tank and vape it to clean

  • @HelmzSea Goodness that is a bad idea.

  • @HelmzSea - that is a really bad idea. really bad for your lungs and body!

  • Just an idea.. Will putting your atty in a bag of rice work after cleaning it so it dries quicker??

  • its no longer winter and i dont have a way to 'force' airflow through my just-cleaned atomizers. (i dont even own a hairdryer) should i add more time (than the sugggested 48 hrs) to the dry out time after alcohol soak? i am a bit leery of sitting the atomizer on my computers fan vent as it seems like i could get some nasty dust particles etc into the wick. as of now i am sitting it on a paper towel on its side

  • Rubbing alcohol will make the black coating peel if you leave it on the outside loge enough. A better methof is to suck the alcohol into a 5ml syringe, and spray it from the contact side hole in a fast jet type speed, do this 5 times and the alcohol comes out clean, blow through it, let it sit 10 minutes, and its try, no need to let it sit for 48 hours.

  • what percent is the iso? I have 90% I believe.

  • Thanks so much for making this video. I've been having a problem with my Joye eGo and realized that I was flooding my atomizer. This is really helpful and I'll try it out.

  • By the way for the record everclear destroyed one of my ego T atomizers so I will be doing IP alcohol from now on.

  • Thanks for the video.. One question though, it it necessary to dry burn the atomizer for a final cleaning when the atomizer is dry or no?

  • If the isopropyl is relatively clean after using do you think it is okay to keep the solution, in a sepaerate container, for future cleans? Or even put it back into the isopropyl container storing the unused solution? I ask this as the isopropyl is expensive - £14.99 a litre ! Thanks.

  • @Greg121121121

If you go this route, i would pour the iso into another sealed container, and re use it maybe 3 or 4 times, or until you have sediment and such in it. Thats what i use to do with my 510 attys. With the Ego T, which i just got , the paint seems to be rubber based, and i've heard of them peeling. Im thinking 5 min iso bath, letting it run through, then repeat warm water. I don't want to remove the wick plate until performance drops to clean the coil. Good luck.

  • how long do you leave it in there?

  • Hi, really interesting your video. I recently bought two ego-t cigars. One of them gives me a good taste but the other change the taste of the liquids. What is happening? They are both new, they are identical and one of them produces a really bad chemical taste. Can you show me how I solve this issue?

  • uhh ya the rubbing alcohol totally made the ribber coating peel off my atty thanks bro

  • @bigd18784 Contact your vendor... that is bad coating.

  • @cozzcon i ordered it from ecigexpress they get all their stuff from joyetech directly. but ok

  • @bigd18784 Joyetech is one of the most consistent e-cig makers, but they still mess up sometimes.

  • @cozzcon Alcohol will make it peel! You dont need to soak the whole atty in iso, just suck some up into a 5ml syringe and blow it through the contact side hole like 5 times and you are done, this method also knockss off crud off the coil. And it cleans the crap out of the wick. Your method takes way too long. Iso takes 15 minutes to evaporate, not 48 hours!

  • @cozzcon I do use alcohol too and I had no problems with both atomizers from joyetec. I think our friend @bib18784 is talking BS or just got a weird lemon. This thing wont peel -even intentionally- without some effort on your side...

  • @code933k not true about the peeling. I keep mine in a cloth pocket in my bag & the black is coming off too. Looks as if it has been rolling around on rocks!! It still vapes, so I am happy!!

  • @MESALINDA52 You've got a lemon then, or just some thing _not from Joyetec_. I'm so confident with the eGo-T atomizer that I have right now, I soak it in alcohol for about 1 hour and then boil it in water 2 times, each one approximately 10 minutes.

It is the only way to get it completely clean (it still smells juicy even after that alcohol and first boil)

If you want me to, I'll show you actual pictures of that atomizer: the black rubber is intact -even the eGo-T white logo!

  • @bigd18784 ditto to the bad coating info that cozzcon mentioned.. My ego-t LR comes out of the alcohol bath just as good as when it arrived in the mail.

  • @bigd18784 This happens all the time for me, with any painted atomizer in my 2.5 years vaping. I have found that if I don't touch the paint a lot before letting them dry the paint hardens again and stops peeling. But for this reason, I buy steel or titanium colored hardware only. Also, I still get black flecks in my dirty alcohol when the atty is not black. So it is indeed dirt.

  • @mmmelaney probably because of how the oil from your hands can react with certain paints that are solvent based, have the same problems with automotive paint. a good solution is to wear latex gloves. stopped mine from peeling and i still buy the same attys

  • I was getting so frustrated trying to clean my attys, not getting a good pull, getting a horrible taste, etc, etc. I'm sure you have all been there. I tried this process, and it worked wonders!!! I did however, use vodka, but it's like getting a new atty!!

  • use a blow drier, it's much faster

  • hey just a question, does it vape good like in terms of vapor?

  • just purchased ego tank systems for me and the wife. I can only hope that after using them, our ashtrays look as clean as that one.

  • Would an alcohol like "everclear" work just as well as isopropyl? I don't feel like buying a bottle of iso if I have some everclear laying around. Thx for the video's coz.

  • @pr0n3 Yup... works fine. Also others have used distilled water or vodka...

  • @pr0n3 Vodka is used in e liquid recipes to desolve menthol crystals and ethyl maltol, I use 151 proof Everclear so yeah it would work great.

  • @cozzcon,

    Thanks for the post.

I will say that I'd be somewhat wary of using methyl, isopropyl, or any toxic wood alcohol to clean something I inhaled through.

I'd think a strong vodka or other "clean" spirit would work equally well, and without the risk of poisoning yourself.

  • Sorry Cozzcon, I ruined a bunch of finishes leaving them in too long so I wouldn't leave it soak more than 20 mins or so and personally I rinse with warm filtered water and use PGA (everclear or vodka) and dry it.

  • @cozzcon Why some poisonous spirits and not common ethanol? I'ts a lot less harmful to inhale, so no need to dry atomizer for hours afterwards.

  • Here's is the best way to clean atty's, and it's all natural and very effective. Use equal parts of concentrated lemon juice and apple cider vinegar. Very powerful all natural cleaner. An empty water bottle is perfect to do this with, you can clean ten or more atty's at the same time with this sized bottle, you can reuse the solution several times before needing to change it. Rinse att'y with water, blow out and your good to go!

  • Isopropyl alcohol is poison? I have heard of people using denatured... but as with all my attys run hot water through and blow them out then dry burn.. never popped one... no waiting.. and works EVERY time... including with these new Ego-T's.... With the method I use which I got from ecf... here is the link .. no need to jerk around with these things.. Highping atty resurection method...

  • @attractivefrenchguy Actually- denatured is just as bad for you. The idea behind the use of isopropyl alcohol is that it evaporates cleanly. As mentioned in the video you may also use distilled water. The cost of using isopropyl alcohol is really low though. I get about 8 cleanings out of a bottle, and the bottle costs less than $3.00, Considering I have 510 atties over 6 months old with no failures (I did lose one LR) the method measures as a success for my purposes.

  • @cozzcon I threw away 2 due to using iso OH.. left a nasty taste.... now if I use a Cisco or Joy LR atty.. I de-wick it... and mine last just fine blowing them out with hot H20 and using the method I sent you a link to... less muss and fuss... and even strong flavors dont linger in atty.. To each his own I suppose..

  • @attractivefrenchguy Sorry you had a problem. It's not religion. What works works for you :)

  • ...And sorry for the typos.. my fingers run faster than my mind, and they dont allways hit the right keys!

  • Great video, and great comments, thanks alot. My only question is: do yo clan the atimiser once a week or more?

  • how much more life do you seem to get out of your attys using this method?

  • used this method, soaked mine for ~ 30 minutes (forgot about it) and then rinsed it off in warm water to make sure I got the alcohol off. I wiped the outside down with a paper towel, and pulled off the black coating.... not a big deal to me, just a word of caution.

  • Great! Did mine exactly as described and all the black latex paint peeled off. Those are the "little black flecks" some of you comment about IMO!

  • @cabotdavis Actually, this has been reported very rarely. It happens when the coating on the atomizer was not applied correctly at the factory. Or alternatively with off brand atties for 510 or 901 systems. Sorry you had a problem. The atomizer will still function.

  • Pure plain PG works the best, for the initial flush and later rinsing. And for coil crud build up that alcohol won't touch, heating the PG (double boiler style) will do wonders. If you soak then a while then vigorously shake/agitate them you'll see lotsa little black flecks at the end.

And of course there are no drying issues.

  • @TheGusK do u remove the wick from the atty I used some pg liquid to get rid of a blueberry taste but have not been brave enough to take the wick out like Vicki does from cignots ego-t cleaning method

  • vodka works well also

  • @Jerodspc1 Vodka works for me to, and sometimes I clean my atty as well...

  • i find pure grain alcohol works as well which may be more expensive

  • Thank you for this video. This is perfect timing for me. My T-Tank system is setting at my post office right now and I'll be picking it up later this morning. I use alcohol to clean my atty's and was wondering how it would work with this system. Thank you for this great info & video.

  • Thanks for the video. I'll have to tweet and blog this one as there is not much info out on using the eGo-T yet. Oh, and if you use a shot glass, you will use much less alcohol.

  • @NicFitNation Thank you Mr. Thompson! It's a pleasure that you stopped by!

  • @cozzcon Just tried this method and It's vaping like crazy from the 1st tank! Thanks cozzcon.

  • FWIW- Humco pharmaceuticals makes an anhydrous isopropyl alcohol that can be ordered through your local pharmacy (if they like you, and they don't suspect you of using it for nefarious chem purposes), It's more expensive @ $4-$6 / 16oz, but if you're impatient its obviously quicker drying than 70-91% isopropyl. Everclear comes in at 95% and should be a slightly quicker dry than 91% isopropyl. Of course these options are far more expensive-unless you want to home distill & re-use the solvents :)
